      @@Brandon-of3ij that sort of take on anything at all makes ne wonder why someone would even put out a (nonreview) video. I find that funny as I have been. Long time user of Fuji cameras from the gfx 50s and then to the 100s. I moved over to Hasselblad X system All amazing but then there are a barrage of anti-(non)users with very strong opinions with zero reference to skill or usecase that makes any sense that tends to fuel ignorance and fanboy-isms that like to compare cameras to each other that are like chalk and cheese 🧀 . This was a very good real use review. The most annoying thing is that 99% of the people saying nonsense about the XH2S are those that don't own the camera. I have used it for more than 4 months as my run and gun camera and can say it performs way better than my A7SIII in every area, which I can't honestly remember the last time I even used it.

Now I'm impatiently waiting for my X-H2 to be delivered. Being able to reap the benefits of a stacked sensor at this price point is just CRAZY! I like that you have a pragmatic approach to gear, especially for gear that is put through the wringer and not treated like a baby coz let's face it, when we're shooting we don't have the time to baby our tools. This thing can stand toe-to-toe with anything out there as a workhorse camera. When I first felt it in hand, I already knew it will continue the X-H1's cult status, and after seeing how it performs, I have no doubt about it. From the X-T2 Fuji already had a pretty damn good camera, and every iteration of their pro bodies after that just improved on what we wanted and how we wanted it (case in point - the X-Pro 3). Now they're just honing in on perfection.

The one thing I was quite pleased about was something you really stressed...the price. It's the same way I felt two years ago when I bought my XT-3. It was the best camera for the money. Or, at least based upon what I could afford. I won't be able to afford either new XH camera any time soon. But, at some point there will be a used market when the next new thing comes along. It will be precious in the coming days and weeks in order to get my mind clearer on the next step I'm gonna take: I have a X-T4 at the moment, mainly for sports photography, it's a great camera, I love it, but when it comes to AF on action it's not as reliable as I'd wish it was.
    So I'm now in between the "upgrade your gear by downgrading to old flagship cameras" philosophy you talked about in another video (Sony A9 II comes into play here), and the chance to switch to the X-H2s, which would allow me to keep my beloved Fuji lenses with me (16-55 f/2.8 + 50-140 f/2.8) and saving a huuuuuge amount of money.

      I never said the camera was a mistake. I said the marketing was a mistake. I think that’s where Fujifilm falls short - they use marketing as a chance to wow people into making purchases when most people prefer real information to help with buying decisions now. If they took the time to explain what a stacked sensor has the ability to do for you I think they would see a bigger draw.

    I love the camera, I have made similar videos. Some people still complain about the price, but they seeming forget a lot of the spec, and that it is stacked, and that stacked sensors are more expensive to design and manufacture. Yet still they say but what about the R6 etc etc. I'm like stacked.. + everything else like 4k120 no 4k 60 crop, weather sealing. I sold my R6 for this camera, I mean there is nothing on the market at this price point that matches this spec for the price. It is truly amazing for the camera for the price. In my opinon it is the best camera out right now, in terms of practicality and room to grow and spec. The results speak for themsevles, and it can contend with the likes of the Sony A1, R3, Z9 in everyway.

    Awesome coverage Brother. I have been going down this rabbit hole 🕳️ to get real life understanding of this Camera. I Shoot Luxury Weddings currently using 3 - S5 II & 1 -S5 IIX very happy in this area. But I am a Wedding Photographer first and use a Canon EOS R, again happy in the output but really was to upgrade this Camera. Hence, My dilemma.. heavily invested in Lumix S glass & Canon L Glass (EF Mount) to share with my LUMIX Bodies… but not sold on the Sony A7IV or Canon R6 II rush. Since I have good video coverage, I would still like another Hybrid to replace the R… Photo but 5th Video Angle if need be.
    Stubbornly I don’t want to learn another system but I’m lending toward FujiFilm but the FujiFilm users are like, “I wish this wasn’t changed from the other versions” or “this takes so getting used to” 😅 puts me off some.
    I love how your Boy said Tracking down the isle for Weddings was spot on….
    And for me this would be a gimbal cam outside of Photography but then it looks like I’m wasting all the capabilities of this Camera versus throwing something less expensive on the gimbal 😅 So on the fence since this upgrade will cost me about $1500 after I find a good buyer for the R.

    Nice review. Now that the X-T5 is announced, we know their strategy a bit better. Presumably an updated X-Pro is coming as well. They muddled the waters a bit with the X-T4 as a hybrid video camera, now they've gone back to their roots to make the X-T line the Photographer's camera, and the X-H line their high-end Hybrid do-it-all camera - after all, that IS what the H stands for. I totally get that the stacked sensor of the X-H2s is better for action shooters, be it sports or wildlife, and the deeper grip suits larger lenses. Though that is an area where Canon and Nikon are still king in long lenses.

    • @DeeRosa
      @DeeRosa  Před rokem +1

      Yeah - they sure do have more for the lens mount in canon & Nikon but honestly I use the same focal lengths regardless so I never feel like I’m missing out. As I’ve said many times in this section I think it’s easy to ASSUME I’d want 3 or 4 different king lenses but to swap bodies and lenses means you’re missing action and long lenses don’t help when you have action at home plate, at the goal, or in an endzone. Sports is more than long focal lengths but marketing made people believe otherwise. The focal lengths Fujifilm has actually are great. I’m never wanting.

      @@DeeRosa Didn't think you were, but good to know, I use an X-T3 myself, and would love the new X-T5, and the X-H2/2s sounds incredible as well. But I see the latter as more videocentric, and to me they're starting to look more like all the rest, namely Canon/Nikon/Sony, so it has less appeal to me. I like the styling of the silver X-T line; I had all-black Canons in the past, the silver Fujis give me good analog Pentax vibes, and I expect Fuji's film cameras were similar..All the others are fantastic workhorse cameras too, but doesn't speak to me, The other thing that attracted me to Fuji is that they are the only ones taking APS-C seriously, with Canon it was a gateway to selling more expensive full-frame, and all the quality lenses were for full-frame, so why bother with APS-C? It's no coincidence the only lenses I have left for my Canon 80D, which doesn't see so much use now, are Sigma lenses designed for APS-C. I fall in the category of "serous enthusiast", so price and size is important to me, as is styling. Unfortunately my budget doesn't stretch to any of the new cameras ATM.

      The camera is smart but it isn’t a human and doesn’t know without a doubt where you’re any to go - the tests CZcamsrs do where they show tracking on subjects that are running free from obstruction are bad examples of how real like situations work.
      I shoot C-AF in Single Point mode and track by following the subject by just following; it allows me to jump from one to another, get unique shots thru a large number of players and also allows me to avoid the camera getting focus on someone who isn’t my main subject due to proximity.

    Sports photography is almost as difficult as wildlife( birds in flight) photography. My question is ; what lens do you use for low light events like nighttime games ? 50-140 is a cracking lens, but much too short for sports or wildlife photography. Do you use the 200 f2 ? It’s out of budget for 99% of people, and there is no other mid priced long zooms available. I think that’s holding back a lot of photography enthusiasts. The X-H2S looks fantastic, but it’s held back by the lack of serious glass available.

    • @DeeRosa
      @DeeRosa  Před rokem +2

      They 50-140 isn’t too short for sports; maybe for wildlife but for sports it’s not only essential but for 90% of moments it is perfect. That’s why a shot list is so important. You position yourself where you have the best chance for impactful images but even with a longer lens you can’t guarantee to get THE shot.
      I do use a 200 f2 or the Sigma 120-300 if I’m shooting on DSLR but both of those are not as reliable due to the focal length only being usable in areas where the most impactful action (goals, TD in end-zone, at bats, under basketball goals) isn’t happening.
      That’s why they only account for 10% of images and are just used if I need a specific image of a specific player or moment for a shot list.
      I don’t understand the gripe of serious glass - if you shoot wildlife I completely get it. But I’ve shot sports for 7 years now with Max Preps, PBR, MLB affiliates, USL, MLS and I’ve always relied on 3 focal lengths for 90% of my images and EVERY other sports photog would agree - 70-200, 24-70 & 50 equivalents. I’ve shot that with Canon, Nikon, Sony and now Fujifilm.
      Shooting sports on assignment is just so different because it’s hard to understand how CLOSE you are to the action and the requests for images are way different than you’d expect. So the 50-140 (70-200 equiv) is the ONE lens every sports photog NEEDS and will stay glued to one body at ALL times to be successful.
      The XH2s is great regardless but I think the desire for longer glass is always gonna be there for everyone with Fujifilm and hopefully Sigma or Tamron beings that. But until then I have to admit that I don’t even grab the longer telephoto lengths more than once or twice a season due to the fact that it is TOO long.

    Yup, took till last week to realize the X-H2S had a stacked sensor. Their marketing emphasizes video, so didn’t pay much attention to the specs. As a 95% photographer, this is the camera of my dreams.
    I am à Sony shooter, but added the x-H1 camera a few years ago. I unfortunately sold my multiple X-H1 bodies and 3 red badged zooms to buy a few GM lenses for an European trip last summer (2022).
    I missed Fujifilm colors and the reality was that Sony really hasn’t been great about releasing cameras with faster sensor readout since I purchased my A7RIII.
    Unfortunately the one innovation (A1) is really out of reach financially.
    The X-H2S is exactly the camera that I have been looking for. I just placed an order for a X-H2S along with a 23mm 1.4 WR.
    If it works as I anticipate, I will be relegating my Sony’s to Landscape duty, and trade gear to get another X-H2S.
    I am very excited about testing the X-H2S as soon as it gets to me.
    Nothing wrong with either system. Even though I have been a Sony shooter since the first generation (2014), the 3 recent years of using Fujifilm has left a pretty lasting impression.
