  • A second weekend of prolonged heavy rain has brought flooding in areas across the country. The Environment Agency said it expected "significant" flooding to continue into the next week. (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News...)
There are currently 409 flood alerts across England, Scotland and Wales, with 339 flood warnings.
Six severe flood warnings are still in place - meaning there's a danger to life - four on the River Teem and two in South Wales, including the River Taff at Pontypridd.

@@millomweb well we don't know the circumstances, people could very well have been out for a little bit and couldn't get back to their homes, hence why they contacted the guy in the video. There is a multitude of different reasons why people couldn't get their pets. They must have good ones if they cared enough to ask someone to go get them.

@@Thyalwaysseek This is because of climate change. It is the government's poor response to climate change emergency that has let the public down yet again. Most people still have barely grasped the changes and speed of the climate change emergency. Most brits do not poke fun at these issues it is just they are not aware of the severity of Abrupt Climate Change. I knew about these changes 10 yrs ago because a single article caught my eye and I researched the issues extensively out of fear. It was just chance that something caught my attention. Most people are still clueless but this is not their fault. It is the government's failure to bring awareness to the wider public. The government has also lied and played down these disasters in the making just as energy companies have played down the dangers we are all in.

Weird they think that's a lot of rain there. Here in Texas we sometimes get that much in an hour (the 150mm amount they got in 2 days!). In 1993 we had a storm with 200mm in 1 hour. Our "drainage design storm of record" in the county I live in (central Texas) was from 100 yrs ago when we got 950mm (near 1 metre!) in 1 day! Imagine what that would do to Wales & England! They should tear down all homes in the floodplain and move those people to higher ground. I do love Britain though. We have our share of people living in floodplains here too.

These houses aren't built on floodplains though, they don't usually flood this much or this bad. In my hometown the river has burst its banks and has far past the usual area. This is not normal and this is far worse than usual.

Boris Johnson got the votes he needed from the people in the North, fact is he could not care less, its not London. he will give all kinds of reasons for not going to see the folk in the flood hit areas, lets hope the gov now makes sure the people get the support and help they so much need, its a real nightmare to have your home under water and the long team mess it leaves and the fear it will happen again.
