- A second weekend of prolonged heavy rain has brought flooding in areas across the country. The Environment Agency said it expected "significant" flooding to continue into the next week. (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News...)
There are currently 409 flood alerts across England, Scotland and Wales, with 339 flood warnings.
Six severe flood warnings are still in place - meaning there's a danger to life - four on the River Teem and two in South Wales, including the River Taff at Pontypridd.

Fair play to the ones rescuing dogs, very admirable. My greatest respect to them.
Can't believe pet owners are leaving their pets to cope on their own ! Such people need fining or jailing.
@@millomweb well we don't know the circumstances, people could very well have been out for a little bit and couldn't get back to their homes, hence why they contacted the guy in the video. There is a multitude of different reasons why people couldn't get their pets. They must have good ones if they cared enough to ask someone to go get them.
My heart goes out to them!!!
Until the public take their heads out of their phones, look up at the geo engineering going on daily in our skies above our heads and start asking questions, this will continue
The rescue teams do an amazing job, so lucky to have these resources in the UK
How horrible. My prayers to those affected by Storm Dennis.
People always act surprised but you can hardly be surprised...
Actually when the Met Office puts out severe weather warnings most Brits make fun of it proclaiming the Met are just exaggerating and it's just "normal" weather...so yes these people, who normally post a garden chair falling over meme when these warnings are issued will be surprised and probably made no contingency plans to prepare for these floods.
@@Thyalwaysseek people should be fully aware when they buy a property in a medium- or high-risk food location - being prepared would be useful, i mean at least put your valuables and your pets upstairs, surely?
@@MostlyLoveOfMusic Should the fact that a house has been built on a flood plain or in a flood prone area not be in the searches done as part of due diligence before deciding whether to go ahead with a purchase?
@@Thyalwaysseek This is because of climate change. It is the government's poor response to climate change emergency that has let the public down yet again. Most people still have barely grasped the changes and speed of the climate change emergency. Most brits do not poke fun at these issues it is just they are not aware of the severity of Abrupt Climate Change. I knew about these changes 10 yrs ago because a single article caught my eye and I researched the issues extensively out of fear. It was just chance that something caught my attention. Most people are still clueless but this is not their fault. It is the government's failure to bring awareness to the wider public. The government has also lied and played down these disasters in the making just as energy companies have played down the dangers we are all in.
@@MostlyLoveOfMusic It is hard to be aware of the risks when the dangers are forever expanding because the rate of change is so fast.
Those poor dogs and cats 🐶🐱😟
I though dogs can swim or it's the cold and got stuck and died?
@Marilyn J I'd like to see such pet owners jailed for animal neglect.
RIP to the dog that didn't make it x
The dog is now working in No 10 with Boris on a secret plan...
We are only a small island, stop cutting down trees and digging up our countryside ...our island can't cope...when will governments learn...

so that's why I heard the heavy rain out my window
It's amazing how many people come together in times like this. community spirit in action in emergency situations. I think Ciara and Dennis came to relay a certain message.
When material possessions are destroyed, we have each other, in unison we shall overcome.
This is nothing compared to the coronavirus storm that is coming
Need to start dredging rivers again
The Flying Yorkshireman if they let trees grow around the river there literally wouldn’t be flooding. Dredging is far too expensive and awful for the environment. Letting trees grow is the easiest thing to do, all you do is wait.
I guess you could say Dennis the Menace paid the area a visit. Hope the drainage system is well there, blessings to all!
My heart with England
could you send a quart of that rain to austria, we need it badly
Sure, fam
I'm in western Lithuania and here has been almost continuous rain since the middle of last year, a lot of very thick clouds coming from many aircraft that don't go away, turn the skies grey.
How much Will the eu pay in emergency funding ? ....oh, thats right
£0.00
Why need emergency funding when you have extra funds going into the UK that previously would go to the EU!
@@romainvicta3076 Do you think UK have the extra funds? More likely will start borrowing www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-01-10/-170-billion-and-counting-the-cost-of-brexit-for-the-u-k
@@romainvicta3076 Because the UK didn't actually pay all that much to the EU (tinyurl.com/y7raf8eu). The economic cost of Brexit has cost us more than we have ever had to pay the EU in the past 47 years that we've been members.
@Cyndi Rothrock yeah thats the joke, the EU used to give us money in the case of emergancys like this, but not now we've left.
So much devastation...our hearts go out to Britain...the whole world is falling apart right now.

i'm sure a more acute infrastructure get get made - inner rivers have an overflow to larger rivers that connect to the sea - i'm guessing some well placed drainage/over flow systems could really help? maybe not everywhere, but in a lot of cases...
Sad for soo many.

Floods and fires. Welcome to the future...
Start digging reservoirs, save all you can.
Then throw all the politicians in
Yes, just yes!
@@joeking1019 that's not right. Don't throw them in. They really dislike fast action. Lower them down slowly.
@@carusmike and several times?
@@joeking1019 your comment made me envision a bunch of politicians crammed into a giant tea bag slowly being dunked into dirty reservoirs...and I like it
Thanks for failing to mention Wales in the title.
They moved people out as the water receded? Why not before the flood?
These are two story houses but yall left your pets on the first floor knowing theres even a small chance of flooding? Im sure Im just naive but it... seems silly.
I see not one senior minister has visited the affected areas..........again?
Government and Council are a business they dont care they not going through any of this they never do.
it really makes me greatful that i live on quite a big hill. feel sorry for those near rivers and lakes
Those poor people and pets. May the Lord have mercy.
@Alfred Wang lol.
I find it very "interesting" that since the UK left Brexit they are now being hit with these 2 Cyclones that merged into 1 Major Cyclone and are now getting catastrophic flooding?? Can you say: Weather Modification/Manipulation Device
They will blame the EU for the floods, and will still expect EU emergency budget 👏
Between this and the coronavirus UK is going to have a really bad year.
Not really, we left the EU things are looking up..
Yep it's not a great start to 2020, let's hope things get better m8.
Where's Boris?
Where are the funds promised! Why have the promised changes not taken place? Not being funny but every time that this country has a bad storm the government promise help, that is forgotten shortly after.. The weather is definitely getting worse every year we get flooded
Anyone remember Yorkshire getting flooded just before Christmas 2019, they were promised help.. they are still waiting ....
They want it that way, it's the excuse for global warming and all the taxes they are trying to impose.
Why have the rivers stoped being dredged?

Climate. Change.
Unfortunately. Floods or any kind of bad weather doesn’t happen here. So people are becoming selfish and mean. They have no reason to help anyone of their own will.

No sanbags or flood barriers no fight it was obvious week ahead that storm will be coming no river monitoring systems and text emergency messages!!
Land sliding could be prevented if you still had the forests.Forests stop the power of the storms, hurricanes and absorb more water.Where are your forests and why nobody plants trees? Also a good ideea is not to build houses near rivers...

Weird they think that's a lot of rain there. Here in Texas we sometimes get that much in an hour (the 150mm amount they got in 2 days!). In 1993 we had a storm with 200mm in 1 hour. Our "drainage design storm of record" in the county I live in (central Texas) was from 100 yrs ago when we got 950mm (near 1 metre!) in 1 day! Imagine what that would do to Wales & England! They should tear down all homes in the floodplain and move those people to higher ground. I do love Britain though. We have our share of people living in floodplains here too.
These houses aren't built on floodplains though, they don't usually flood this much or this bad. In my hometown the river has burst its banks and has far past the usual area. This is not normal and this is far worse than usual.
That's news ABC.
I couldn’t care if a human drowns...do not let the dog drown!
Boris Johnson got the votes he needed from the people in the North, fact is he could not care less, its not London. he will give all kinds of reasons for not going to see the folk in the flood hit areas, lets hope the gov now makes sure the people get the support and help they so much need, its a real nightmare to have your home under water and the long team mess it leaves and the fear it will happen again.
