- Learn how to replace the engine air filter in your car. The truck used in the video is a 2001 Mazda B3000 aka Ford Ranger. This process will be similar on most cars and trucks. In this case no tools were needed. Sometimes you might need a screw driver. An air filter should be replaced every 30-50k miles based on how you use your car.

Having literally zero experience with cars, I really appreciate that you have simpler videos like this explaining how to do or use things other people might consider really easy! It really gives me a place to start so I can learn more about cars and eventually fix mine on my own.
I am glad the videos are helpful!
@@chrisfix it helps me to
@@chrisfix love your omg 😱😳 bless you
How are you doing 5 years later?
@@chrisfix These are great. I always new that paying for a body to replace your filter was way over priced.
I’ve done this a hundred times as a mechanic but i can’t just seem to stop watching chrisfix
Haha thanks for the support!
@@chrisfix Hey Chris, would you do a vid on troubleshooting a tachometer + speedo that don't work correctly?
Damn bro you used to have much lower energy back then
Alex Fishman subscribers /money from monetization / more confident will make you feel better and more energized
MWN Nazi money from monetization is almost non existent nowadays
Ijnat what? Man this guy probably making 20 to 30 grand a month just from CZcams at least maybe even more, not to mention sponsers....you living in a different world
MWN Nazi How'd you get these numbers? People keep giving me these crazy numbers and I don't really know how they get it.
Ijnat crazy? Well yeah they are fucking crazy but that's the real shit, most of the youtubers with 1m subs and lots of views are making 30 grand there's a guy that is making 500k dlls a month
This video is catered for beginners. This simple maintenance is very easy to do. Imagine how much a shop will charge you to do that. They will use the cheapest filter they have usually. Same goes for oil changes. I do all that myself. Have a happy holidays Chris to you and your family! I hope you take a good rest today.
Video so old theres no "Hey Guys, Chris Fix here".
HEYY GUYYSSS
He’s slowly evolving his intro.
pre youtube bux and after
And no gloves! 😱
Chris, you are the man man... I'm cruising in my sports car and because of you, I can continue keeping up with it
Thanks is great to hear! I am glad you are learning a lot!
Short, simple, and easy to follow. Thanks for the video.
Would love to see "How to change your cabin air filter"
Check out ChrisFix instagram he actually made a short video on it about a week ago
@@Russian_polite_man even a cars owners manual is easy to follow on how to change that out
Just look behind your glove box, it should be there, really easy to replace. You’ll have to just detach your glove box, there’s a couple clips.
This is the first "hey guys" intro. I'd like to see someone do a compilation of how he gradually goes from no energy to the Chris fix we know now!
Thank you! I had no idea where to begin. You are very clear and direct. Some people who already know this stuff just breeze through, skipping details that a newbie needs. Thank you!
I'm glad you learned everything you needed to know!
Watching these videos has opened my eyes to how much we get ripped off at auto shops! I can't believe how simple these fixes are. All the years, time, and money wasted. No more!
This guy really didn't want to make that video but I'm very glad he made it anyways. I have probably watched all your videos (it started with the crown vic) and now I have my own car and I'm ready for the first performance mod thanks to you
This is much easier to do than i taught it would.Thank you for the helpful video.
Damn it's hard to talk to non car guys in a way that they understand! Good job man.
I super appreciate the video! Today they quoted me $377 to change my air filter. I’ve never paid so much. Glad to see it’s easy and I can do it myself. Thanks again! 😊
Dam what car drive that they gaved you that price? 🤣
Just how in the hell you get the tips for 377 with lmao
WHAT
That’s insane
This is robbery
And they wanna charge me $100 to do this ? 😫 how do I like this video a million times
I know right!!!!
Thanks for the video! I’m a 22 y/o female who is going to be attempting to buy and change her own air filter rather than paying $40 for the auto shop to do it
Davina Marie Good luck :) I did the same to my vehicle which was very easy.
It is very simple and easy everyone can do it 😄
Thank you I touched my car under the hood for the first time ever I put a quart of oil in and changed the air filter and cleaned the mass airflow sensor of my 1998 Ford Explorer sport it was very easy but you gave me the confidence to actually start next up is a super flush of the coolant following your video on it of course
Thank you so much! Dude at a local shop tried charging me $40 for installation
Thank you so much. Just subscribed to you. I loved the way you describe and explain things. All the best
And I almost paid 120 just to do this thankfully I came across this
feodufg3r4weozjmkdwopsqkf3 And it takes literally 3 minutes

Easy to understand tutorial. Thanks!
@chrisfix Thank you for taking time to give step by step instructions 🤗💗🤗
Chris fix is the the dad I always wanted
That looks really easy! Thanks!
Old videos are just as good and helpful as new ones. Maybe except for a so wobble camera :)
Thanks Chris! Your videos have been a great help to me and working on my first car, thanks again God bless!
I'm glad the videos have been helpful! Thanks a lot!
No prob! Yea, it's an easy thing to do to maintain your vehicle!
Like it. It's was easy to follow. Will be watching more videos from you.
Thanks. Pretty simple and laid out :)
Can you do a video on how to patch small cuts/rips on leather seats? Been binge watching your Awesome videos man very helpful!
Always a good idea to upgrade even if it's a minor one. Maybe make a video of using a throttle body/air intake cleaner..?
Super simple and quick tutorial perfext
Really good representation buddy really appreciate it
thanks I'll be trying this soon.
Thank you so much for details steps
Here we are… I’ve looked at all the videos and this was the first “hey guys” opening.
You should do a video comparing regular air filters to k&n or “performance” filters to see if they work or not, nice channel!
I was always curious about those "filters." I guess I'll stick with the Dooxi "air filter." :-)
@@kathleenspears3952 I’ve heard there actually worst for your engine.
@@kathleenspears3952 unless if your using a performance car just stick with oem
Awesome! Glad it helped!
I really like the lower energy Chrisfix.
Great video as always. Lately, I have been binging your work. Not gonna lie though, I was honestly expecting you to say you were gonna hit it with the soap and water, when cleaning out the area haha
Thanks. Just what I needed to know.
Not true man... Some people are just learning. You have to start somewhere!
ChrisFix how do you clean the case that surrounds the Air filter without damaging anything ? For lack of a better word , how do you clean the external housing unit of the air filter 🤔?
Neli Crawford You don't :D
but if you really want to then use a wet towel or something.
ChrisFix
@@MamaKenya He made a video on how to detail your inner interior.
The filter you changed looks pretty good compared to when I changed mine.. I Just changed my air filter along with my oil the other day.. it was basically pitch black
Great videos Chris. Would like to learn if high performance filters increase performance.
Chris can you maybe make a video on how to progress from little/ easy things to do such as changing a wheel and changing air filters to progress to harder things to do mechanically... Such as steps to take to become better with cars etc, top tips & just how to start confidence building with car maintenance :)
Shelbb Lee just watch his videos
Maybe he should do a playlist "from easiest to hardest" with his already made videos !
"A JOURNEY of a thousand miles starts with the first step".
Some Chinaman
Hey Guys, Chris Fix half asleep doing the easy stuff. Haha. We appreciate everything, easy and hard.
Can you remake this and give visual examples of what should be changed and what is ok? My trans am has an air filter about a year old and the edges of the filter are dark grey-ish but not really sure if that warrants changing or if it can be left alone for another few months. I like how you did the engine coolant vid with that dirty and clean fluids look like, was hoping you could do that for these air intake filters too.
Cool idea!
+ChrisFix we love you kindly regards from The Netherlands!🛠
thanks man. cali has these wildfires got ash all in my filter
hey guys.... Chris fix here :(
Thank you. Life saver
Good Video 👍🏽
This is the dirtiest I have seen a Chris Fix engine. It looks like it belongs to one of us lol
Good looks bro
I appreciates this video thanks!
THANK YOU!!!!
One thing I learned the hard way was to keep the engine air filter clean or it can affect your Mass Air Flow sensor. I use software called Automotive Wolf to monitor all the maintenance on my vehicles and I used to have it set to replace the filter once per year, now I have changed that requirement to every 10000 miles.
This is awesome. Thanks!
Thanks!
It looks like this might be the first video with the Hey Guys intro. Lol
In cleaning out dust, you could use a used dryer sheet. Very effective.
dude your videos inspired me to fix my own car, but i have some questions, can you make a video where you explain what everything under the hood is? and my check engine came on with no flash or noise, but when i took it to auto zone the machine popped up with an error. what does that mean?
thanks
Cool video since... Keep going.
Hi Chris, thx for your effort man , I was thinking about changing my Normal filter with a Cone filter , I have a stock Nissan sunny N16 2005, do you recommend that? it will be great if you share your experience about Cone filters.
This was the video that started it all..... HEY GUYS CHRIS FIX HERE 😱
Hi chris i love your videos ... they really help me.since i dnt know much about cars. I wonder where u like to buy your car parts if u have some websites where u can buy and get decent prices... and one more thing i live i california i u can make a video and how to prepare of get your car ready for smog inspection things that could help the average person like me... yo get my c ar ready.. thanks and godbless keep up the gd work...✌
Thank you!
lol this vid just reminded me... i bought a filter for my mazda 3 and have yet to install it lol... need to get a cabin one too, guess ill get it this week and find some nice day to install it :)
+Sammy Morini Awesome! It is super easy!
ChrisFix yea! at least for the engine one... like man i read on the mazda 3 forums that the cabin air filter is accessible via a door on the passenger side, which is easily accessible after disconnecting the fuse panel under the glove box... like who the heck designed it that way??
...unless you know a simpler way? haha :)
If it was a linginfelter car from the beginning it will be more valuable. If it is a custom engine put in after (not matching numbers) it is only as valuable as someone is willing to pay for it. Dont worry about value, just enjoy it!
hi Chris! i recently bought a K&N filter for my PAJERO SPORT, after watching videos and reading comments about the oil ruining the MAF sensor, im having thoughts of re-installing back the paper filter,.. hope you can enlighten me sir on this matter if its really worth it!
Thanks buddy good job.
Thanks!
Did you notice any improvements with acceleration, hp and mpg?
I didn't know you were a latino bro. Thanks for your videos.
Lol Chris ! your air filter is new !!! you dont need to replace it , here in my country we replace it when it turn all black xD
ALMOST the "HEY GUYS!" I know and love!
thanks so much, we appreciate.
kayiwa samuel No problem! Glad the video was helpful!
Hey chris, looking back from now, what would you recommend for a filter. I daily drive my F150 no off roading but i do drive down a dirt road to my home.
Project Farm did a video on these filters. Filtration, Static Pressure, Micron Measure, HP, and a few other things were part of the experiment
I changed my air filter went through all t connections to make sure they were secure even changed the mass air flow sensor and the check engine light is on what do you think it could be
Hey Chris, it would be interesting to see a video about performance air filters and air intakes installation!
Definitely!
@ChrisFix will you be making that? I'd love to see it. I have the Outlander SE 2016. Poor gas mileage. Poor acceleration. Current filter is original. 2 years old.
Added the K&N cabin filter, iridium spark plugs, transmission oil was changed 2 years ago, muffler was replaced last year. A full tank is giving me half the miles. Added like 6-8 of those fuel cleaners, one seafoam one that you suggested in one of your videos. Going to Jiffy Lube soon to clean the Fuel Injection soon but wanted to see if there's something else I can try. You're the expert, they'll just rip me off.
Do you have a performance air intake system like k&n or do you think it's unnecessary?
do you like the k n filters
Hi Chris, what air filter brand would u recommend for a 2018 Nissan Rogue??
Thanks dude
Chris, are you still using this Spectre filter? How is it holding up?
Yea, just have to be careful when cleaning them but if you do it right, you should have no problems!
Which filter you recommend dry filter or oil filter see K&n don’t trap dirt very well any brand you recommend thanks
Would you recommend K&N air filter on a 2019.Rav4?
Chris, can you do a video on broken or non working power windows?
I know this is a old video Chris but I just put in a k&n air filter on my silverado and then took it for a drive. I noticed my oil pressure is now 60-70 psi when I'm driving. Is that normal?
I love being able to learn how to manage my vehicle with simple tasks like this! It will help save me from scammers since I’m a woman 😅
Thanks!
I read that K&N filters allow more air (less restricted) but they also allow a lot more dirt into the engine compared to paper or foam filters. I have been using K&N air filters for 16 years on 4 different cars and trucks. I haven’t noticed any problems with them. My main question is wouldn’t the oil filter catch anything the K&N air filter misses? BTW; thanks for making the most helpful videos I have ever seen.
+Ken Mitchell The oil filter will catch stuff that gets by the filter the problem is if it gets in the oil, odds are the damage is done. The debris gets between the piston and cylinder wall and causes microscratches. That being said, under normal driving conditions, just like you, I never had any problems. If you live in a dusty area, it might be better to use a regular paper filter.
I actually got a job in a garage with no experience, just from watching chrisfix, and listening to car talk.
Thank you!!
Fran Mineo You are welcome!
It depends what you do and what car you have. For a daily driver, nothing special car under normal conditions I say why not. If you have an expensive car or a special car or something like that, I get wary but who knows. I am trying this out on my truck and I go offroad. It is similar to a KNN... Who knows lol...
Could you make a video on how to clean out a clogged A.C drain? I tried with an air pressure hose and a long sturdy wire to loosen up anything but it didn't work.
You are a pro
Lingenfelter made some bad ass parts for the TPI Vette
I love it when I click on a car how to and it pops up with pretty much my make/model of my car
Yea man! They made a 250mph Vette before a 250mph car ever existed! Sick!
ChrisFix 😍😍
