  • Hey everyone, welcome back to Dailydownshift! Today we're installing what is probably the final piece of protection that the G87 M2 desperately needs. The oil radiator is completely bare and exposed on the underside of the M2, M3 and M4 which could cause a major catastrophe to your engine if the radiator is punctured while driving. This has already been documented on several vehicles, including multiple M2's just shortly after they were delivered. Long story short, a puncture while driving will result in the total write off of the vehicle as the cost of replacing the engine plus labor is very significant. This product not only protects the oil radiator, but also looks incredibly sleek, is lightweight, and serves the purpose of reducing lift and creating a low pressure airway. This should theoretically result in added performance, especially in racetrack setting. Enjoy the video!

    Couldn't be more thrilled with this product. Super lightweight, great protection and nice performance gains in terms of aerodynamics and heat dissipation. If you're interested, feel free to use code "Dailydownshift" for 10% off the product. If you have any questions about it, do let me know!

    Def a good peace of mind mod to do… maybe not necessarily in carbon. I’ve seen some just add the wire mesh to the existing plastic and it works as well (more money to spend on visible carbon pieces then!)
    Looks great though and nice angles showing the install!

    It's my understanding that the rubber lip is meant to create negative pressure for the oem configuration. With this new configuration, I highly doubt you need it, and perhaps should get rid of it

    how are you liking those race ramps? I do not have my G87 yet but when I do, I was wanting to put on the R44 Front splitter on myself and was thinking about getting those race ramps as they are the only ones that provide a low enough approach angle to not scrap the front end of the car. Is there enough clearance to also install side skirts? I have a right angle drill so I am hoping there is enough room to get underneath there.
    Also, really love your vids and enthusiasm. I subscribed some time ago and have learned a lot from you, thanks man.

      Race ramps have been good to me. Definitely enough room to do basic stuff like front lip, radiator etc. Side skirts should be just fine, especially if you aren't lowered. Thanks!

      @@DailyDownshift I will be a little as I will get the MP HAS kit which will lower the car 10mm. I would hope that would be enough. I know some people on Bimmerpost said they got their cars lowered the whole 20mm. If it is too low, I may jack to car up and put some wood or something underneath the red tires. That should give me 2 to 4" which should be enough.

      @@ronin120 Oh yea, if you put a wood block under the rears and go up the race ramps front first, you'll definitely have enough room.

    • @DailyDownshift
      @DailyDownshift  Před měsícem

      The metal ones I've seen either completely restrict airflow or have massive holes that allow rocks and debris right through.. (mishimoto, turner, TRE etc). Let's not even begin to talk about the added weight of going for a steel option or the fact that they don't offer any performance. This option is expensive, but absolutely the king of skid plates.

      there was a guy on Bimmerpost that got his engine totaled while he was driving his new car home from the dealership (just bought it). A rock hit his oil cooler and he did not stop the car in time as he did not know anything happened until his dash lit up saying low oil pressure. BMW did not cover the engine. So yeah many have not had this issue happen to them but I bet they would be singing a different tune if it did.
