  • GOOD BYE LA VAGABONDE. Wow, what a journey it has been. She's shown us many beautiful countries and taken us to places we never thought we'd visit. But best of all, she's been home. It was an emotional few days, but the excitement for this new chapter in our lives kept the tears from falling. See you later lover. Hello France!! Stay tuned.... a huge thanks to Port Whangarei Marina for being legends and especially to Brad for helping us out portwhangarei.com

Now Elayna and Riley, we follow you on new adventures on a new La Vagabonde

I found your CZcams Channel by accident. I have been watching for months now. I am from the Oregon Coast and spent some time on the water commercial fishing. The sailing thing, WOW What a switch! I am very interested in seeing your Catamaran adventure. What I like is the honesty of your videos. Keep up the great work!

The saddest thing. I punched in the name "La Vagabonde" on "Marine Traffic's" website and find La Vagabonde sitting high and dry in Whangarei Harbor, New Zealand. Then I saw this video. Tears are flowing for the good and faithful boat "La Vagabonde". But it is on to new adventures for my favorite sailing couple. I am eagerly awaiting the video's of the new "Cat" and all that room it has!. I will need it's hull no, so I can track it and live vicariously though it as well as through Riley and Elayna.

I am also excited for you. Following you two has been a pleasure for my family and I. I am not sad that you have moved on to another vessel. La Vag will be fine. I know you will take care of her. The adventure was always with the two of you. Those of us who have watched you sail freely from your first vids will always cherish the old boat, but we will also move on with you. There it is. With you. We love you guys, and we will look forward to new seas, new waves, new wind, and many more adventures.

What an emotional episode, even for those of us at home. I felt it from the meet and greet on. Must be both wonderful and daunting that you touch so many lives with your videos. Still amazed that over 3 years ago an Aussie wandered into a bar in Greece and talked the most beautiful, smart, strong and adventurous girl in the place to go off with him. Well done. Sorry that an old guy in Salem Oregon will probably never get to a meet and greet. Till the next time then, be safe.

It is rather odd how one can become emotionally attached to basically a piece of machinery. It has happened several times to myself. Our Cessna 172 then our Beechcraft Bonanza. We took so many vacations in them, flew to funerals for family members. It was emotional to get rid of them because of all the happy and sad memories we had with them. You all are lucky that you have videos as you do. We didn't have things like this back in the 70's and 80's. Just 35mm pictures.

It's amazing how you get attached to a boat. When I was a kid we had a little Catalina 27 that we kept on a lake. When I turned 15 & got my drivers license my parents would let me & my girlfriends go to the lake alone. It was about a 2 hours drive from home & we did maybe 2 weekends a month & I spent 3 months over one summer living on it when I was 16. It was my first taste of living away from my parents but it still wasn't my primary home & I still got so attached to that boat.
That was over 30 years ago & I still have fond memories of that summer. lol I look at photos of old Catalina 27's & I am amazed I lived on that thing for 3 months. I wouldn't do that now but even that little 27 had a stove, oven, icebox, sink, a bathroom & a comfy bed. I bathed in the cockpit so I had everything I really needed. That boat was part of my life, at the stage of my life when I started to become independent & I remember it very fondly.
Boats have a way of doing that, of becoming part of you & I guarantee, you will forever look back on your time on LA Vagabond with fondness & you will always miss her, just a little. Best Wishes & Fair Winds for the opening of the next chapter of your life.

I am pretty sure that the colourful (yes we spell colour with a U in Canada) dinghy sailboats at the start of this video are Australian-made Access Liberty sailboats. An incredible little keel boat designed for disabled sailors. I chaired a disabled regatta few years ago and we had 10 of those boats come all the way from Australia to participate in our event in Toronto Canada back in 2009.

Sure Deal Antares, Fountain-Pajot and Outremer for me are the top Ownership Catamarans. I really like the (liveaboard) layouts on the Lagoon and Leopard but I feel they would be much better for Chartering. Price, Performance and the Weight are important to me. They are all capable Blue Water Catamarans. It's all about what works the best for you. Performance wise the Outremer is at the top of my list. Most likely will go with Fountaine Pajot. We shall see. Cheers!

Daniel SouthFlorida - I'm going to take a much closer look at all 3 of the brands that you've recommended. I intend to buy my cat in the next 18-24 months. Price, performance and weight is important to me also and I think that you're saying that these 3 brands provide the best balance for your needs, including value for money.
Is it easy to get parts all over the world for those 3 brands? In regards to maintenance and re-sale value are these 3 similar to the Leopard and a Lagoon?
Thanks for sharing your insights I appreciate it!

Sure Deal Fedex is my parts delivery service as it is for many others. Gotta get in there and do the research and see what is best for you and your needs. I would imagine any Owner version is a better resale than a Charter version. They both have their pro's and con's. There is a Catamaran out there for everybody. Check out Just Catamarans and The Catamaran Company in Fort Lauderdale. That is where I began my research and of course youtube after I attended a couple boat shows. Happy Hunting. Cheers!

Great video, sad to see the last of La Vaga. The funniest thing though... you zoomed in on the white board message and I saw my mouse pointer zoom across my monitor. But it looked funny, so I moved my mouse around, it looked fine BUT it was in another part of the screen than where I saw it go. WTF? I then rewound the video and THAT'S when I noticed the FLY on the wall in La Vaga! Damn thing flew across the image as you filmed. Gave me a good laugh, made me think I was seeing things! Well done guys! that must have been hard, but you have so much to look forward too. You started down a path that you could not see the end of. And you still have no idea where its taking you. But you are enjoying the ride. which is all that counts.

La Vagabond will always have a place in your heart. The new boat will be more comfortable. The sailing will be a little different but you sailed a fairly light boat three quarters of the way around the world. I expect you will have little problem dealing with the change. Best of luck and fair winds in your new adventure.

Congratulations you two. It's Steve here, the Actor from Melbourne. I've watched every ep you've ever put out into the world; Purchased Elays album and we've even exchanged a couple of messages here and there (Admittedly before you became super famous-I understand it's much harder now). Thanks for everything. This goodbye ep literally made me cry. I hope too have my own channel in time. With you all the way. Love Steve.

I would like to know the reasons for some of the thumbs down. It is totally beyond me. These two young people are living their dream and taking all of their viewers along with them for the ride. What can be wrong with that. Is it jealousy?
Keep pursuing your dreams guys. I love your work.
    Greetings from Sydney.

Hard to watch your ship dissappear in the rear view mirror. I nearly cried the day my little 17 foot powerboat went down the road on a trailer without me. I can't imagine what it must have been like for you guys. Looking forward to watching the next chapter of your adventure unfurl!
