I'm a millennial and we had a few of these already.... with Dialup, DSL, Fiber, Myspace, Facebook.... now OpenAI and I can sense the excitement in your voice. In 10-20 years kids are going to look back at us and laugh thinking why would you watch a movie or play a game someone else made up. You prompt your own movie or game and you're in your own imagination

I think it’s 1 to 2 years away. This kind of stuff scales and evolves in months, not decades.

it took me time to realize but the future of this tech is probably even more insane than that since it understands 3D space accurately presumably so it means that this tech in the future might one day be able to run completely in real time making it possible to be experienced in virtual reality googles (by also splitting the same single image into two different image angles for 3d depth effect), it's so remarkably advanced and revolutionary that I think we still don't fully grasp how powerful this is going to be in the future, who knows it might even replace game engines at some point and do magical things in real time.
We cannot even begin to imagine what will happen in next 3 - 5 years. Who knows what they already have available. I have read somewhere that Sora is 1 year old, i mean these videos and that they have only released it because of gemini 1.5 .... now, for my understanding this is bigger breakthrough than atomic bomb...

Our liver will be changed in unimaginable ways. This technology will be used in unimaginable ways.
What i fear is that not all of those advances will be in our wellbeing, meaning that each and every one of us could be in AIs sandbox, and we would recieve only information that ai think we need.
So essentialy making a slaves out of all of us.
While people who do own this technology will be rulers of the Earth.
Not so differently than today, but on a much larger scale..
And i am frightened and exicted at the same time
@@whoswho6641 Right who knows, I feel that now the speed of progress of developments in the AI field is going so fast to the point of feeling that months in the AI field are almost like as if years passed by in terms of technological progress that happens in other fields, so it was so wild and crazy and unbelievable to see Sora's abilites and videos all of a sudden out of the blue so to speak since such tech level of coherency and resoultion I expected to see only in like 4-5 years or even more than that and it already is here and existing, this tech feels like something so exotic in nature and futuristic as if someone invented a time machine that works in real life and then he/she shows us that it actually is working and that it is real and it shocks us all, it's that crazy.
I think just like you, our lives are probably gonna change a lot because of all of this AI revolution (and Sora :) ) and advances in robotics + AI, 5 years in the AI field is way more than just 5 years of other fields so who knows how far they would come by then.
As for AI owning us and our lives well, it might happen but it's up to all of us to not fall into being a slave of the AI and these companies that own them.

I think these videos will be subtly watermarked pixel by pixel, which is apparently the case for all the Gemini (formerly Bard) produced pictures. But you're right, the casual user or viewer will probably not know that.

In a about a year I won't be able to tell if a video with you talking like this is real or AI generated. That freaks me the f*ck out!!! Our reality is about to shatter completely. The possible consequences of this are scary. It's both fascinating and deeply disturbing at the same time. Where are we headed?

My thoughts are that we need a definitive way to differentiate an AI video or Image from a fake one. Now I have no doubt that the high levels of government wouldn't be fooled for a minute on thr things an average person creates. I am a doctor and have already had a problem with someone creating an AI generated image of my prescription pad and fax it to the pharmacy. Of course they used a fake name, but by the time I found out, they had filled the script 9 times. For SORA, I'm happy for my side hustle ETSY business, but the black hats are sitting up nights with sleep deprivation trying to figure out things they can do and get away with, and how long can they keep getting away with it before they get better with controls. How long will Midjourney keep allowing people to generate a picture of Joe Biden and Taylor Swift making out? Yhe AI designers are going to be playing a game like "Whack-a-mole" where they fix an issue and a black hat finds a way around it

... I think we'll see more of it because now people don't have to worry about what they look like and what kind of environment they live in. Just create a (subjectively) attractive version of themselves in a (subjectively) beautiful environment, presenting whatever from anywhere with music and narration in ways they haven't been able to until Sora.

And as this is generating Art,I have to say that artist live exactly for the process of doing Art,it's not just to create that sh*ty content.
