Israel is not a theocracy. It is the only country in that region where all religions live and work together in peace, and enjoy equal rights and freedom. At first I was stunned that the Yale Atheists, Humanists, and Agnostics would have a problem with Ayaan Hirsi Ali speaking there. And then I remembered the "No means yes" chants at Yale in 2010. Appearing erudite, enlightened and respectful of women in public, but underneath something quite different. Now the Yale AHA association has a problem with Ayaan Hirsi Ali? Shame on you. Sorry, but you guys have some explaining to do. You are worse than the Muslim Association, at least they don't pretend to be something they are not.
Richard Dawkins has no problem with Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Do you have a problem with Richard Dawkins too? In what universe are you allowed to call yourselves atheists, humanists and agnostics.
The first step in renouncing religion is understanding this simple fact: criticizing and questioning religion, whether one religion or religion as a whole, is not blasphemy. There is no such thing as blasphemy - you have to be allowed to criticize publicly the set of beliefs in a religion without viewing this as blasphemy. And calling the criticism "disrespectful" is just a euphemism for calling it blasphemy. Until you understand this you understood nothing about atheism, agnosticism or humanism.
This is what happens to the student body when having money becomes more important for getting accepted into a University than being smart. Welcome to Yale University!

And how would you characterize the aggressive Arab war against Israel of 1948, and the additional aggressive Arab wars against the Infidel state of Israel of '67, '73? Not that I would support either. Just saying. The Hamas Covenant calls for Israel's "obliteration". That could make the settlers a bit touchy.
By the way, the reason the occupation is so reviled by Islam is that it is an Infidel occupation. When Gaza was occupied by Egypt before the '67 war, and the West Bank by Jordan, we didn't have Hamas calling for THEIR obliteration.

Israel is not a theocracy. It is the only country in that region where all religions live and work together in peace, and enjoy equal rights and freedom. It is a secular country where all people have a voice, not just Jews, and with diverse populations serving in their Knesset. It survives through grit and determination in the knowledge that Israel is their ancestral homeland. And it is a Homeland worth defending.
