@@TrevBarnes what ranges instrument should be in and why, your personal eq process from start to finish. I’m watching your videos because I’m really astonished how you can go from idea to finished product so easily and efficiently and effortlessly- while I sit here and cry at my computer for months and pretend I know what the ratio button is doing.
And while I’m here, a video on compression. I’ve watched tons of videos and even years later it’s still a mystery; “it glues things” “you want a fast attack” etc. I’m getting convinced compression is like a bay leaf: everyone uses it but no one can clearly articulate what it does or can spot the difference if it isn’t there.
End rant - thanks for all your videos! You’re the only notifications I have on, not kidding.

How did you make that pad and twinkle synth in Retro Synth? I loved those sounds!
I just realized part of my screen is cut off for the WHOLE video lmfao. For my retro synth I usually set the semitones +12 to give it a light octave, but keep the blend closer to the original osc. Drag out the release and decay and add a Burt load of reverb. I also usually add a touch a chorus and vibrato to give it that 80’s warble sound

This is how my experience is like when I sit down to make music, except the only thing is missing that everytime I stand up to get another guitar I immediately have to go pee.

As far as I know it’s only in logic. It’s been a long while since I’ve been in GarageBand, but I know they have a few of those 80’s sounding kits
@@TrevBarnes Yeah I noticed there's LinnDrum, but yeah GarageBand is quite limited compared to Logic!
@@kylohertzpiano it’s a good entry point if you’re thinking about getting Logic. It’s been my favorite DAW compared to Pro Tools, Studio One, Reaper, and Luna. In my opinion, it’s worth the investment

I’ve used 4 daws in my life, Logic, ProTools, Studio One, and Reaper. For what I do, Logic has been the best DAW hands down. Theres something about it, the user interface, the included sounds, the ease of use, it’s been my favorite by far. I try to think of daws as “what is going to be the quickest way to get my idea onto this computer”, and because of what comes with Logic, it knocks it out of the park

I would say playing keyboard is important for production in general. I've had the same small 25 key midi keyboard since I started producing, it allows me to do Midi drums, keys, etc. I would say a keyboard is necessary for what I do.

If you just click on the individual instrument in the DMD, a library should pop up on the side of the screen!
My biggest question is, why are you not recording your pc audio through your software..?
I do, everything goes directly from Logic to OBS. At the time of recording this video the setup wasn’t the best, but now it’s pretty seamless. I may do a setup tour to elaborate

I want this without the plug ins!, I am new to Logic and it took forever to download their sounds…what can’t someone show what can be done with them? But everyone wants to showcase plug ins . I guess they are fishing for sponsors, fair play to them, but it is a tad disappointing when you have so many stock sounds…
I mostly use stock logic plugins, especially virtual instruments. Especially in this video, I’m pretty sure like 99% of what I did was with stock plugins. I think the important thing is that plug-ins are tools, have expensive or stock plugins doesn’t matter. I use what makes me happy, some cost money, some are stock. It’s all about what I just personally enjoy.
