if you're here because you didn't give zoom permission to access your files and now you cant download it, this worked for me; system settings, privacy and security, files & folders, installer should now be showing with a minus sign (-). select - then try to download again, Thanks to the person who added this in the comment first, hope this help someone 😀
Thank you! This didn't work exactly for me, but it provided me to try something else.
If you are on a Mac and have the message, "The Installation failed. ⚠ The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
Try this:
First: Uninstall Microsoft 365 apps from your computer
Second: Re-download the desktop apps
Third: Go to Apple icon--->System Settings-->Privacy & Security-->Files & Folders-->Installer-->Toggle ON--> Then Save Preferences and Restart your Mac.
I just wanted to let you know that this worked for me. I got an error saying I couldn't update my Microsoft 365.

Please help me fix my laptop. Its a macbook pro 2011 yeah its old but im still using it. So i reboot it and deleted all files in my drive then when i tried to reinstall it it always say "error occurred while preparing the app" I tried everything update the date, repair but still not working. Please help me i badly needed my laptop i will be taking my board exam review this month, I don't have any money. Please i really need some help😭

Did not work for me it is not on the app store
I tapped don't allow how to allow it
system setting > privacy > files > remove it. then click installer agains should be able to allow
