I found a new doctor's office in 2021. I'm still working on getting healthy, but have learned a lot from the doctor and also Dr. Mercola, Dr. Jason Fung, etc. My doctor told me, no more snacking. Eat only full meals. I'm supposed to finish eating by sundown... to help with my sleep. IF in the 8 hours or less - I'm usually 6 hours of an eating window. Sometimes, I only eat 1 meal a day (OMAD]. I have lost 34 lbs. But I'm even more interested in feeling and being more healthy. We bought a near-infrared sauna... that's helped my arthritis, skin, vitamin D, etc. Also, I'm working on eliminating seed oils... which are pretty much in all processed foods... just like you mentioned with your mayo, I've switched to an avocado one from Costco, Chosen Foods, when I saw that Duke's, my old favorite, is using soybean oil! Disgusting. Another area that I'm working on learning more about is "natural flavors" as an ingredient and what all can be in that category. Thank you for emphasizing exercise...I greatly struggle with that lifestyle change so that encouragement to do better with it is appreciated! It's encouraging to know that we can make good positive changes that work and not resort to medications as our first line of defense in aging and poor health. I will add, not buying all the processed snack foods and candy has helped the purchasing of better quality food and eating less quantity... the endless snacking/grazing is gone.

Love this! The key for me is eating Whole Foods…real foods. I like to look at the nutrient density of things like berries, dark leafy greens, organic produce, etc. I think this is what you do as well. It makes such a difference in how I feel, plus the added benefit of staying lean. Love that you shared this! Our health is so important and we have to be our own advocate.

It is so important to think about how we fuel our bodies with nutritious foods instead of calorie intake.

You are so right!!! I found IF 2020 and it truly has changed my life. I have gone from a very sickly 240 lbs (Registered Nurse), very stressful career to 165 and now in my retirement career of teaching high school. This works for me. I feel vibrant and alive. I use healthy supplements too. My skin is beautiful. Thank you Beth for bringing this content. You’re never to old to unlearn bad habits!

My parents were health conscious, but back in the 70s the "experts" said to go low fat. We had no butter, no olive oil, and everything we ate was steamed. My parents were slim, but I believe the lack of Omega 3 fats was very harmful to all of us. I am finally feeling better now that I eat salmon and grass fed butter, and sardines. No more depression!! No processed food, and I also do intermittent fasting. The results are magic! Thanks for this great content!!

I just want to also say, I found a program at the age of 58 and I had tried EVERYTHING (well, I didn't know about this program, but I tried a lot!) For 10+ years I would gain and lose and gain and lose and there was no solution in sight. Coming out of COVID I found a 10-week program and in 10 weeks, I lost 30 pounds. Two years later and I've kept the weight off - a lot of principles like Beth shares, but I like that I eat my own (home-cooked) non-packaged foods - I learned so so much and regained hope and vitality and confidence! Thank you Beth for sharing what is working for you - REAL solutions for ordinary women over 50/60!

I did something similar in 2023, only with a personal trainer and nutrition package - combining exercise and eating to a macros diet - and it changed my life. The thing with programs like yours, or a trainer like mine, is that it has an increased chance of success when you’re accountable to someone. It’s an entire education in learning how to eat healthy, and build muscle to support our bodies going through change of life. I thought I was getting osteoarthritis too! Nope, just menopause and suffering the effects of inactivity.

This is such an important reminder how important it is to take care of ourselves. Eating healthy and working out is what we should all be doing. I do my workouts at home and I also walk in my neighborhood. I have microbiome issues, so I should avoid things like dairy and gluten. I find eating out is the most challenging. Thanks for your inspiration.

Thanks so much for this...I've been looking for an organized, whole foods plan that includes exercise and this one checked all the boxes, so I went ahead and joined for the 6 weeks. Many people feel constrained by specifically planned meals, but like you, I love having something to work from otherwise I tend to lose focus and then my momentum.
The nutritional profile of Faster Way is excellent - whole foods, clean and dairy-free. For me, eliminating dairy will be a first... I've always resisted it, but am now willing to give it a go. It might just be the thing to help me break a plateau that's lasted nearly a year now.
I can't wait to get started. I need to lose about 15 lbs. and get more exercise into my day.
Thanks again for sharing this resource! Kind regards.

That's true, but...treat your body to a few healthy foods, sometimes mixed in with the not-as-healthy, and it knows what to do. You will notice a difference. A positive difference. Your body is unique. Unlike anyone else. So in baby steps, go forth, trying to eat healthier when it's possible. Kale is the most nutrient-dense of dark, leafy greens. By a mile. So if you eat, say, a cup of raw kale with whatever the meal, it'll help digest that way better than without kale. And you'll stay fuller longer. Learn to shop for and properly store your healthy food. It goes far once you learn. This is all for you. Invest in your body. It's with you til the last day of your life! Truly hope this encourages you to try healthy eating, beginning with small steps ❤

I agree Beth, FWTFL is a very healthy & balanced lifestyle program. I saw pretty quick results especially when I took my measurements after 6 weeks. I wondered if you have suggestions for doing this program with a spouse who isn’t interested in participating? We are newly retired and husband likes to go out to eat. He would frequently ask in frustration, where can you eat? I quit after following the program for 8 months and bing stuck with only 10 pounds of weight loss even after several coaching calls and adjusting my macros. I’d like to return to this lifestyle but I’m hesitant because of my husband. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Hey Beth, I’ve recently been fine tuning what I eat. I learned that although the Kraft and Hellmans mayo says it’s made with olive oil or avocado oil, these still had soybean oil and canola oil. This labeling can be deceiving. So far I have only found two brands that use 100% avocado oil and those are Chosen Foods and Primal Kitchen. I was unable to see the brand you had and thought you might want to check the ingredient list.

Beth, if you are watching your sugar intake, you must forget about the oats. Trust me. It spikes blood sugar so high, you won’t believe it. I didn’t until I started testing myself an hour after eating oats and it went up to 154-160 mg/dl. I got myself CGM, Libre sensor and it verified. In case you’re watching your sugar intake because of diabetes, pre diabetes, oatmeal isn’t doing any favors. You can check with glucometer, one hour after and you’ll see and even after 2 hrs, will stay up ⬆️

@@laura24590 I rely on my glucometer. You may test if you have one. One hour after eating and you’ll see it will spike. Unless you do not have insulin resistance or aren’t pre diabetic and of course not on med. I’m pre; so I religiously rely on glucometer and CGM like free style, libre.

Hi Beth, thank you for a great video. I have just realised after watch this video that Hubby and I do intermittent fasting. We usually have our evening meal around 6pm the we don't eat until around 10am the next day so we must have that right, After having health issues this last couple of years I have altered a few things diet wise. Cut down on sugars and soda, we only eat lean meats anyway and I don't eat much in the way of desserts so I'm kinda doing something right. My problem is trying to build the muscle which I've lost and I'm wondering if it's because I have a Thyroid issue. My doctor say my Thyroid is neither under or over so I'm not on any meds but I do wonder if that's the reason I can't build muscle. I will have to go back to him and check. Thank you again for this informative video and you are looking great. Kind regards Julie 🇬🇧 ❤❤

Hi Julie, I’ve been listening to a lot of videos recently about muscle building. Apparently as we get older 🙄 we produce less of the hormones needed to build muscle. One of the most important things is to eat plenty of protein - you need 1g of protein for every pound you weigh. Dr Mindy Peltz has some great utube videos on this if you want to do a search.
