- Sometimes opinions change, and in the case of these LEGO Star Wars sets I used to HATE them. I explain some of my subjective reasoning as to why I ponce thought sets like the 8087 TIE Defender, 75151 Clone Turbo Tank, 75096 Sith Infiltrator, 75199 General Grievous' Combat Speeder, 75182 Republic Fighter Tank, & more! Comment some LEGO Star Wars sets you didn't used to like but have since changed your stance on.

What’s a set you HATED when it came out but now LOVE!
The £650 millennium Falcon
Ask MandR what happend to best monthly Mocs
I did not like most clone wars vehicles, but I've come back around on many of the republic's vehicles.
When i was a child a got the barc speeder with sidecar and i didnt like it because i hadnt seen clone wars so i got rid of the captain rex
Th first order at st, jk that set sucks
Lego Star Wars fans: we want clone wars sets
Lego: they want another Luke’s land-speeder
True
Very true
“What are they smoking in Denmark?”
@Conor Garcia lmao
Deathsticks
If I only had a dollar every time I thought that.
@@martinsuper4545 we’d be millionaires
That made me laugh so hard
To answer the question of what they're smoking in Denmark: deathbricks.
@Conor Garcia How many lines?
Me looking at meh LEGO sets: Disgusting, what idiot would actually buy this
Me after getting that same set for a gift: Hehe, thing go nyoom/vroom
I actually destroy them for parts whenever I do get them as gifts lmao
Feel ya
Used to hate how the First Order snowspeeder looks, until I got it for christmas and realized it was quite fun to build
@@voctur same! It’s a really cool build in my opinion
Yeah i never liked Vonreg Tie Fighter, and when I got it for Christmas I was like, alright, this is cool....
Then I built it and it's probably my favorite set now lol
"meh"
As a proud owner of the 2020 AAT I have to say that the playability and minifigs of this set are amazing ! Sooo the joke at the start hurt my feeling a bit ngl
It goes pretty well with the recent Republic fighter tank too, they're not mirco vehicle small or huge but like the perfect scale to eachother
I prefer the 2009 its bigger got more playablity more accurate and the same coulour scheme as 2020 and has 7 mini figures 3 b1 battledroids 2 super battledroids with rocket arms 1 phase 1 clone and yoda
I modded mine to be more in proportion and it looks fine and I really like it now.
i dont own it but i actually like it
Nah it’s so innaxurate it’s unreal
Im just sayin, he cares about the proportions of the aat, but doesn’t care about the proportions for the fighter tank, the most recent one is so much more accurate in design and proportions, and on top of that its mini-figure scale, maybe slightly smaller in the area where the figure sits, the 2009 republic fighter tank is like almost 3 times the size that it should be, and not to mention it’s proportions are off like crazy, plus all you get is two clones, TWO in a 50 dollar set, versus the new aat where u get 4 better figures, and u can make some simple mods to the aat now by just removing some parts and its accuracy increases significantly
@Venator Bricks The 2009 AAT is way more accurate than the 2020 AAT.
With the republic fighter tank, it's about the scale of the set. With the AAT it's about the proportions. There's a difference. And the 2020 aat is not fixable with a few mods. Nearly all the proportions are wrong. The top section is way too big, the mid section is too boxy and is missing the strip, and the bottom section is also missing a stripe and isn't deep enough, not to mention the whole thing is undersized.
@@gbrow1604 nah but you miss what in sayin, you can modify the top and the cannon with pieces from the set to make it more accurate. I think the 2009 AAT is better for sure but that fighter tank is way too big and disproportionate.
@@aidentorres5174 I'm saying that modifying the cannon of the AAT barely makes it more accurate. And the proportions of the fighter tank aren't way off. The top section is just a little too tall. I know it's very oversized but that has nothing to do with proportions.
The number of times I've said this.. he totally ignores how much more accurate the new republic fighter tank is than the old one. He also points out the flatness of the new one, but if you look at pictures or play SWBF2, they are pretty dang flat! Lol. He also is fine with the size of the 20th anniversary and 501st AT-RT sizes so I guess the takeaway is M&R doesn't mind if something is massively over sized, because that somehow doesn't impact accuracy.
Maybe mandr doesn’t like the tie defender because Cory destroyed it in his vlog with the basket ball 🤔 edit:sorry it said blog it’s auto correct but you know what I meant
Funny you mention that, I just re-watched that vlog yesterday!
which vlog was that one? must've missed it
yeah well maybe
How do you hate the tie defender
@@bummer8631 OK THATS ENOUGH
MandR: This set is so overpriced it’s so stupid!
Also MandR:
*A fine addition to my collection*
I’m gonna be honest, the armoured assault tank was actually decent and it was pretty worth it. I mean, cmon, you get 4 mini figures including a 332nd trooper and an ahsoka fig.
i love it tbh
Yeah but that's the only reason it's good...
I buy it
Yea I agree but i didn't buyed it I still don't know why xD
Yea the set itself I really like to
7:04 Lmao!!! That is the best quote from Ryan I have ever heard and is probably the BEST quote about anything Lego. It makes me laugh every time I hear it because I can relate it to so many sets.
I didn’t even hear that at first, lmso
Why is Luke's Landspeeder here? How could anyone at any point in time hate Lukes landspeeder? It's so good that they keep making it again!!
bruhhhhh Its a good set but it comes out too often
@@officialbomber6065 bruh
When he said the 2020 AAT I was so shocked for a second
No one will ever like the first order at st
Edit:
nothing to see here
Yeah. Just no
I mean moc builders get some nice pieces and first-order officer uniform
I actually really like it, especially because it has captain phasma in it
Minifigures = good but the only ones you can use outside of TLJ Mocs are Phasma and BB8.
@@FatallyYours230 I actually like it too. It’s not minimum playability due to the laser things, and the staff that Finn holds is quite nice. A feature that most don’t know is the circle thing that goes by the laser things can rotate up, preventing it from shooting.
Ryan: the aat is horribly inaccurate
Ryan talking about fighter tank: I don’t care about minifig
inaccurate and minifig scale is a complete different story. For example inaccurate is the lenght of the aat gun, that is oversized. Even if the model was minifig scale, it would still be inaccurate because of that.
@@tigerbesteverything literally like a two minute mod to make the cannon the right length. Can even use the original parts from the set.
@@tigerbesteverything you know you can just remove two pieces and it's a perfect set?
@@tigerbesteverything exactly. He doesn’t like it because it’s completely out of proportion. The 2009 one is way better, and eleven years older. Although the minifigures are more detailed now, I prefer the selection of the 2009 one (although if they had replaced yoda with another battle droid or clone trooper that would be perfect) because it’s just much larger than anything Lego would do now.
@@bean_boy752 @Dakota McDermott you know that's not the point... If the set by default is inaccurate, modding change nothing to that fact.
I modded the AAT so the barrel is shorter now, and I actually really like it!
same i love it now
All the Rebels sets, really disappointed I missed them
I worked at Target when they went on Clearence. I got the separatist shuttle set with Admiral Thrawn for $17. One of my best finds!
The twilight was used a lot in the season 1 of clone wars😂
@Conor Garcia To this day I regret buying the Malevolence instead of an AT-TE. I have no idea why I bought it over the AT-TE. It's not a bad set by any means, was a fun build with some nice figures, but I love the AT-TE, and now the only way to get one is by dropping like $300+ for one in good condition.
@@MaJo-zx8zj With the 2022 AT-TE; do you still regret your decision? Because personally I think the Malevolence is better purchase from back then
**Seeing the tie defender in the thumbnail**
Its treason then
What’s the average temperature of a Tauntaun?
Lukewarm
I have seen that one before but it’s pretty funny
I want a remake of the twilight that looks a lot better and bigger so maybe we could fit anakins Jedi star fighter inside
Question for Mandr: What are Lego sets you used to love but now you hate?
The New TIE is really growing on me. I was not pumped on it, but after building it and seeing it next to my Falcon and other ships, it looks right. I’m also really interested in getting a few of them and building an interceptor and advanced model in the same scale.
It’s the other way around for my 2020 AAT
For me its basically every single rebels set, especially the Imperial assault carrier. But now that its been in mando and just that I appreciate rebels more its grown on me.
For the Twilight, I found it half-off at the LEGO store, and I had no interest in it, but my mom was like, "it's a big set for half-off so you should get it," and I guess I did or something, even though I didn't want it, but after building it and having it in person, it was actually pretty cool. It had some cool play features like the door in the back, the grappling hook, the escape pod, etc. It was also much larger than I thought it would be, which was pretty cool. I do kinda wish I got the AT-TE instead, but I learned to not hate on the Twilight too.
I have always loved the little clone tank. I still love the clone tank. Or 'IFT-X' for my fellow Battlefront veterans. It scales really well and the proportions are almost perfect. The only downside is the lack of laser turret but I can get over that.
Pirate Tank is definitely one for me, I was sick of that obi-wan figure and it wasn't going to boost my clone army but now its one of my most wanted sets
I used to hate Luke’s Land Speeder because of how much times Lego has remade it but I love it because of the Memes
For me it’s the Episode 1 AAT that came out a couple years ago.
Pretty good scale wise and the gun was actually well proportioned.
5:14 I was surprised to see this set on the list, but I agreed with your arguements. I love this set purely of nostalgia. I remember building it at my grandparents' house, and this set is kind of a symbol of my grandparents' house, which I love.
I wish I would've gotten into Lego Star Wars a lot sooner. I felt it when you mentioned the ARC170. That set is on my wish list, along with the Republic Gunship, Drop Ship, AT OT, and the buildable figures
That fighter tank is properly minifigure scale. The other one was laughably oversized.
Nah, the older one was minifigure scale, or maybe very slightly oversized. The newer one is way undersized. There should be room for two pilots in the cockpit, besides the gunner in the hatch and an astromech. Look at that new version, no one could possibly fit in there even if it were hollow, nor could they look out of those tiny windows.
Mandr: Luke’s landspeeder shouldn’t be remade every year
Also mandr: iTs a Go0D sEt
I think you can have good sets but that doesn't mean they should come out every year.
@@brickblastproductions6498 yeah I agree lol
I turned my grievous speeder into a droid gunship lol
The republic gunship is so nostalgic for me, my grandpa got it for me before he passed a few years ago. The minifigs are really good too
Whenever I get a notification MandR uploaded a “hate” video: Oh no, here we go again.”
I love this channel!
At 3:07 the set at the right was my first lego set that my dad got it for me and he passed away 1 months ago.
I remember getting the tie defender from my parents when it first came out, I really liked it, IMO it’s one of the coolest tie builds
I don't understand why mandr doesn't like the AAT I know the top is too big but I did a very simple redesign using only the pieces from the set and it looks pretty good and I can guarantee that if he tried he could make the AAT look great
7:11 I found like 6 of them at my local jcpenny for retail price
I thought they are bankroupt
Yeah i found a few of them at jc penney too
CocoforCoacaPuffs not YET they are gonna go out of business soon tho I’m sure
Well you do get Luke Skywalker with the poncho in the landspeeder!
Just picked up the Fighter tank set in this video, glad I did, I’ve come around to it as well. I like that Clone Pilot fig.
Used to think the blue Tie Fighter was lame when I was little because of its look and minimal functionality but now I like it more because of its uniqueness. I really want that Cad Bane figure bad... and Tie Defender set
Also Grevious Speeder. Never got those😢
I’ve never really “hated” a Lego set, but I guess I didn’t like the BTTF Delorean, Age of Ultron Hulkbuster, and a lot of the Jurassic World sets. Most can agree, the Delorean is pretty blocky and ugly with a bumpy hood and no windows. Hulkbuster I always thought was too big compare to the hulk bigfig and some of the Jurassic World sets were inaccurate with vehicles that weren’t in the movie. However, I actually like the Delorean, it’s highly detailed in the back, the doors open upwards, and the wheels go down. The Hulkbuster grew on me because of it’s unique, bulky, mech design. The Jurassic World theme, while still inaccurate grew on me because of the colorful and fun builds with some decent minifigures, and great dinosaurs. The Jurassic World theme is now my one of my favorite Lego themes now.
The 2020 ATT is not bad. it’s a toy, r y a n, not a display piece. If kids can play with it well (witch they do) it fills its purpose as a 7+ Lego toy. Overall, it’s not perfect or the best, but it dose not deserve the hate u and other creators give it.
Btw love ur channel lol
yeah but ryan can hate it if he wants
I’m the same on the TIE -D. At the time it was very fringe, but its becoming more Canon, and it’s only a matter of time before we see it in live-action. I wish I had one.
Honestly, for me as a kid, it was any Clone Wars related sets (which ended up being the ones I got)
I still liked having them and had fun building them but I didn't fully appreciate them back then, I had wished i had Anakins starfighter from RoTs or something. My sets just ended up in pieces and I just built my own little vehicles with them.
But getting back into legos as a adult (and now being a fan of Clone Wars) I am so excited to look for my old lego sets I had as a kid. The two I really want to find are Anakins Y-wing with Ashoka and the Magna Guard starfighter. I can't believe I had these super awesome sets and I instead just scrapped them for loose legos.
It's shocking to me that the Duel on Geonosis set (with Poggle the Lesser and Dooku) is the only Geonosis set that has part of the Geonosis landscape/factory.
I’ve always loved all of these. Not denying that. Aside from maybe Grievous’s speeder.
The turbo tank is so good. Cheap and came with a bunch of figs. Some really good ones. I’m glad you came back around Ryan!
Your vlogs just helped me get through two days of building the ninjago city gardens
We really need a new TIE Defender. And also a new The Ghost
@Blake Larson just imagine one that’s scaled up a bunch, with maybe an actual interior, and similar in scale and price to the modern Falcons. And minifigures, it could have like a new Ezra, a new Sabine, Hera, Zeb, Rex, Chopper, and Maul
@Blake Larson I do actually have the old one. It’s nice for the time, and lack of reference material, seeing as it came out before the show. But it’s really due for an update.
When I was younger I decided to buy general grievous speeder. And I could’ve got the moss Eisley cantina and I also bought some of the leftover money and got fake Lego figures now the I am really a collector and this is one that I look back on and say why did I do it why did I buy this
There's alot on this list that I actually highly value because of the minifigure selection, specifically the ones with the prequel Jedi Masters. Lego rarely does the background Jedi characters that the EU brought alot of life to in the Star Wars Republic comic series and the Clone Wars Multimedia Project from 2003(ish)-2005(ish) so its really cool to have background characters like Quinlan Vos and Aylaa Secura in the updated "movie" look.
I bought the Republic Fighter Tank as it was in scale with the mini figures cause of the 2002 video game: The Clone Wars. So I was looking at it from that point of view, as opposed to the larger sized one they made for LEGO that wasn't seen in the show.
The pirate ship just looks like a giant turd
I’m surprised the 2010 Freeco speeder wasn’t on this list
Why would he ever have hated that?
@@SelvesteSand he has said before that the freeco speeder was a set he used to hate
I love Cad Banes speeder. One of the sets I vividly remember getting on Christmas
I always loved the twilight. It’s such a strange and unique set and I used to spend hours looking at it in the catalog as a kid so I have a ton of nostalgia for it
So if you like these which ones do you truly hate? 🤔
The 2020 AAT
I used to hate the mandalrion at st but when I got it I loved it
Haven’t even opened that one yet
I got a B wing an older set, not sure if there is a newer one. But I didnt care for the originals. I was all about clone wars and episode 3 around 2005, 2006. My mom got me the B wing fighter for my birthday, didnt really care for it, didnt go with my timeline. Ultimately I ended up using it created a whole story with my imagination and ended up loving it. Wish I still had it, at least I have my memories and I'm grateful she bought that set for me!
Glad to hear that you came around on all these sets. Perhaps the AAT in the future?
Nah that’s just a blatantly inaccurate build
The twilight wasn’t that bad and the set is MASSIVE.
That Cad Bane's speeder really gets overlooked as one of the most overpriced sets ever. $50 for that on it's own is bad but it's even worse when you consider that adjusted for inflation the price is $60! I mean look at that set. It's literally just a speeder with two rows. I think it might be more overpriced than Grevious' starfighter. It should be no more than $35.
This aged poorly
@@piyushmatta2363 not really. he's still right
@@Triceratronz Cad Bane was like 50 bucks
and still is
Glad to see you’ve finally come around M&R! I can’t believe you hated the tie defender
Great video. It got me thinking - you often criticise LEGO for skimping on the minifigures (I agree) so what are the sets with an ideal minifig selection? What are the sets with the best minifigs?
Bruh I absolutely hate the 501 battle pack - Greg's gardening tipz
No
Wait that means General Grievous' Combat Speeder isn't bad to you anymore?🤣🤣🤣
Lego would love hearing you say that about the lukes landspeeder
I bought the republic fighter tank and the turbo tank duel on geonosis and general grievous combat speeder and I love them
"Bulkey gray blob" pretty much describes all star wars sets..
Then you don't know shit about Lego Star Wars
i own the twilight clone wars ship and it's one of my absolute favourites, and i own a lot of legos.
the interior is pretty crappy but if you put in a few plates to serve as a floor its a fun set with a lot of room for figures inside.
After rewatching clone wars, I wanted twighlight so much. Got it used a modified it to look more full and modern.
Hated the original turbo tank when I got it and it was the first ever set I actually dismantled, but after my dark age it was the first thing I resurrected.
the "imperial assault carrier" is a millitarized gazzonti class which is a ship seen alot in the background of the prequels
I remember seeing the lego Tie Dagger (aka Sith Tie Fighter) and being really put off by the price-per-piece but eventually realizing that the reason it was like that is because the solar panels are made with a ton of ginormous plates. Still overpriced though.
I ended up taking it apart to try and make my own MOC version of the tie fighter, because I thought the original model looked really ugly. Originally I simply polished the wings and tried to move the center of mass slightly forward (to moderate success), but eventually I ended up just completely redoing the entire dome. I'm currently waiting on a bricklink order for parts I need to finish the rebuilt dome, in fact.
I have a weird connection to the 'imperial assault carrier' its actually called the gozanti class cruiser but anyway it took me like 12 hours to make it in minecraft to scale on a survival server and I appreciate the looks of it and yes i put the tie fighters under the ship but ye it holds a special and weird olace in my heart coz it reminds me of those 16 hours+ it took me to build in survival.
1:36 personally love these sets have playability and display ability with good minifigures. Also affordable for such iconic vehicles
It’s cool they made these sets more affordable since they’re so iconic, but the X Wing not being able to retract the landing gear sucks
Ucs hoth set was horrible when i got it but it has grown on me since it has been on my shelf
I was never into the a-wing but now I like how it looks and I own the green one--I forgot the name.
9:57 Hey It's The Lego Set Corey Broke 2 Years Ago-
2:16 The new luke's landspeeder is one of my favourite sets and I really don't know why! It is still a very quick re-release but it is the only luke's landspeeder that I own but I don't want Lego to re-release it AGAIN
For me it was the Tie Defender as well, but with Star Wars Rebels introduce it back, I really love it and his one of my favourite set I own!
But there is two set that I never bought and that I regret it so much ‘till this day : The Corporate Alliance Assault Tank with Jango Fett and Darth Revan.
I had the money for both and I haven’t bought them. Revan is my all time favorite sith and I miss this opportunity...
8:28 I always loved this one. I couldn't buy it in 2017. But one day I was at the mall in Late 2019 and I found it for $25 so I knew I had to get it.
I've never heard of the Lego tie defender before and now I really want to get one
Very big of you Ryan for coming to terms with these sets! I am impressed✊✊👍🏻👍🏻
I like the newer republic fighter tank because while it is smaller, it is more size-accurate, and it does have a good deal of detail
OMG the throwback to that specific texaslegoboy video bro!
@MandRproductions I loved the twilight! Its hardly in CW, but it’s cool. Cade bane’s speeder was really good! I didn’t get it either, but i remember it coming out. The Sith infiltrator was the only one, I got out of the ones you said.
7:52i quite like how creative this was
Got me the 2021 tie as just something to build and set on my bedside table, pretty decent for that aspect.
a set i used to hate was the At-St Raider but as soon as I built it, it looked amazing
I really used to hate the microfighters series but since 2020 I start to like it. I still don't buy many of them but I think they are the pretty good and worth price
I really don't think the aat is that bad. If you want it to be more accurate, its super easy to mod. I shortened the cannon and swapped some parts in the middle to make em blue and it looks pretty sweet. Might find some stickers for the rocket grenade things on the front
2:12 spoken like a true visionary
I used to dislike the 2014 Anakin's Jedi intercepter, mostly because it is small, and I was getting bigger sets, but recently I have started coming around.
Mandr when a new set comes out:*looks to old set* i dont want to play with u anymore
I have the AAT and General Grievous' speeder. I have to admit, the main reason for buying them was I wanted the minifigures. I wanted a Mace Windu and a General Grievous, then I wanted an Ashoka Tano.
