I noticed fuel dripping out of the front of the motor where the exhaust is. I pulled a little strings off the exhaust old exhaust part off and it was full of fuel. Is. that because of a faulty reed valve. And could that be why it will not start. Any help would be great thanks

    Hi just want to know can it cause spark plug problems if youre reeds is damage

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Před 5 lety +4

      Bad reeds shouldn't affect your spark plugs directly. Usually a sign of bad reeds is hard starting and backfiring, and a noticeable drop in power. With that being said, a bad reed will throw off your air/fuel ratio and could have possibly caused your spark plug to foul out or run too hot if the reeds have been bad for a while.
      Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    • @HighestRank
      @HighestRank Před 5 lety +1

      A leaking reed valve can lean the A:F mixture ratio until either the piston cracks or it won’t stay started. Spark plug insulator may bleach but being made of steel copper nickel and ceramic, it’s much tougher than the rest of the motor.

      @rexdadpapa Před 4 lety

      No you don't, maybe if you have Boyesen and after the screws are removed maybe BUT,,,He doesn't tell you a Vforce 3 is a two piece cage and that you need a tool (I used a credit card) and you have too firmly press it between the reed and the outer extended part of the cage to unlock the tabs then you have to push it apart slightly then do the other side and then it comes apart.Then remove the center retainer for the inner reeds. Also when installing the new reeds you make sure to install them with the curve towards the cage (new reeds have a slight curve that needs to be toward the cage for better seal). You also have to make sure when putting the cage back together that the part numbers on the bottom are on the same side like they were before. A first timer will not know any of these things.

      You shouldn't need to use any sort of gasket maker or sealant on the reed gasket. Some people will put a small layer of grease on either side to help with the gasket coming off in one piece next time you need to disassemble it.
