- 3 top speed runs with my 7500.. It definitely needs more gearing :) Engine is a stock 536 out of a 90s Formula Plus, detuned for the Swedish market (smaller carbs and I think also a different rotary disc).
Speeds were 114.0, 112.8 and 114.4 km/h. Or 71.1 mph. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
wasnt a huge fan of the blizzard till i rode my friends 7500,love the sound.now i need to find one for myself, hes got 2 blizzards and 2 super sonics.
You think you weren't a fan of the Blizzards?????????????? I bought a special order 1983 Ski-Doo 9700 Blizzard from a local dealers show room floor. That son-of-a-bitch was unbelievable(2 trophys from drags to prove it). It came with high rev clutch, chambered exhaust, aluminum belly pan and front end components( steering assbly) , studded track, liquid of course, larger mikunis, and all perf. parts Ski- Doo could come up with. It was a pro- mo sled for a new era of performance. I only talked to one other guy that owned and raced one and he clocked his at over 130mph. with a gun. Sorry for the long speech but you can see why I am sick for selling mine and am looking desperately to get one back( Price doesn't matter) !! Jim
Surprised it only ran 71mph. The only Forumual Plus that old 521 came in used to run well into the mid-80's....and they were quite a bit heavier than an old Blizzard.
After 1988, all of the 521's got a serious detune. Smaller exhaust ports, rotary valve and 34mm carbs. They had to.....at the time, the 86-88 Forumula Plus was beating up on the then new, 1989 Mach 1. Ski Doo couldn't have their flagship sled getting picked on by its little brother. ;)
The reason for it only doing 71 mph is that it's still got the stock gearing for a 354 :) 536 also revs less, you do the math. I should probably go up at least 2 teeth on the upper.
Btw the 9500 to the left of me has a 582 (583 without RAVE) and it was slower ;)
From what I understand, the 536 engines were tuned down even more here in Sweden, for insurance purposes. Nothing a bit of porting won't solve ;) Should at least be able to bring them up to 534/537 spec even if there's less meat around the exhaust. But I couldn't really be bothered, this was only supposed to be a temporary solution until I figured out what's wrong with the 354, but haven't really actively been looking at that :)
rv blizzard my favorite
they were pretty fast for the displacement
What clutch work did you do on it?
Aah. There they are. Coulda jyst said that first ya know
hahaha well at least you got many more running then i have, i got 2 running sleds and about 4 more waiting in line
How fast does it go?
Don't you have to put in a jackshaft conversion kit when running a motor this big?
Seems to work fine without it. For race maybe, but for trail use with a stock track I think it'll be fine.
They accelerated fast but every one I rode topped maybe 75. When there done they are just done!!
I think it could've done with 2 or 3 more teeth on the top sprocket. Unfortunately I sold the sled now so we'll never know :)
So??????
?
Darrren Betker Try reading again.. I wrote it in both metric and imperial units. Not sure what more you expect.
Come on really? .....you do speex runs and dont tell us what your speed was?
Darrren Betker Try reading the description ;)
Tooooo fast for the suspension
