This film is part one of two… which they haven’t made clear via the advertising, as far as I’ve seen. I agree with Rocha that this story trailer showed a lot of story, now with the understanding that Act 2 will take place in the second film.
It's pretty easy to do a 2 minute trailer of just the 1st half of anything

I think Ariana is doing fantastic! Also to be fair they really only shared her comedic moments and she got me to laugh several times
No he visto la obra y conoczco de este mundo, pero yo leí algo sobre las emociones de Glinda, que según ella nos las tenía, pero las empieza a desarrollar. Alguien también dijo que otra el acto 2 se verá más desarrollo de ella.

John… I think what you are missing is that they both have a reluctant jealous admiration of each other. It’s not one sided.
You don’t see that in the trailer AT ALL. It’s purely one sided from the trailer. Didn’t “miss” it if it’s not in there, brother.

La verdad que sí. Yo no lo conozco, pero hay personas que están muy sumergidos en este mundo, y le han dado el punto bueno. Por otra parte, yo lo veo admirable, y se han comido muchas escenas en este trailer (lo que significa que no han visto nada en lo absoluto). En un video del proceso de la película hay escenas dignas de un gran musical; hasta hay un clip filtrado de hace meses donde Ariana hace un canto legítimo (estilo operístico) de una canción que no recuerdo su nombre, pero en la letra mencionan a un "Rodrigooooo" está en la playlist del show original, y Ariana lo hace espectacular. Conoczo muy bien Ariana como pop star, y sus voz suena demasiado distinta, en serio se ha esmerado para este papel y el resultado se ve muy bueno.
Se supone que Glinda sea así, no?

You should watch “a passion project” that they released two days ago. It’s showing behind the scenes and the chemistry between Ariana and Cynthia
Exactamente, en esas escenas se ve más complicidad y hasta se aprecia relativamente como un musical. Están convencido de que han visto demasiado, pero en realidad hay tantas cosas que no se mostraron en este trailer. Como la escena de Glinda en la burbuja, desde hace meses se filtró un clip muy corto donde Glinda (Ariana), está haciendo un canto legítimo (estilo muy operístico) y suena increíble. Probablemente está película sea larga, y quieren resumirla bajo una opinión de lo que vieron en tres minutos, son algo injustos y a la vez, fuera de criterios.

I watched the original play on Broadway, and I cried, it was magical. Idk really know why they made it to a movie, BUT Kristen Chenowick is the original Glenda, and Ariana’s mentor, and she really loves Broadway so as a fan of hers I am excited

Um, I mean that's exactly the point of the movie, to show the development of the friendship between Elphaba and Glinda? It's logical that the path they take can't be shown in a three-minute trailer.

As I hit play and listened to the first minute or so had me thinking Rocha and Vogel’s friendship was headed to an untimely end.

Ariana grande is very funny doing that voice she does in Sam and Cat, but she’s going to have to prove to me she can do anything other than that.

this isn't anything like her cat voice lol, this is a transatlantic accent. the only similarities between her galinda voice n her cat voice is that they r both higher-pitched than a normal speaking voice

Great looking trailer. Much better than the Superbowl which I was not a fan of. Cynthia Erivo is the better actor and singer,of course. Still from what little I’ve seen of the stage musical Ariana is servicing her part as Glinda. Might take watching the entire movie to get all the emotion the movie wants you to have.

You were talking during the trailer and missed a couple lines of dialogue that would have made things clearer for you. Either way, I think this is going to be a really fun, enjoyable movie and a beautiful one at that. We need more movies that balance humor and aesthetic with social commentary.....that aren't comic book adaptations.
Been doing this awhile, bud. I can talk and hear at the same time. I didn’t miss anything in the trailer that would’ve changed my mind. Please enlighten me on what two lines I missed that would’ve changed my whole opinion.

I agree with you that I’m not feeling the chemistry between Ariana and Cynthia, I’m not a big Ariana fan in general though I do acknowledge she’s a talented singer - but it looks cool.
But the movie being a Part 1? Eh, we’ll see how it works out.
I can't wait to watch....................John and the gangs spoiler review it will be magic 🤪 as for the movie i'd rather sit through 2hrs of someone scratching nails on a chalkboard 💅
Their chemistry comes across to me as quite good and magical. I had zero interest in this, but the trailer won me over.
Ariana Grande was fantastic in this trailer.
I’m a big fan of the stage musical, I’ve seen it a few times. I think the Glinda switch will make sense once we have full context. I’m still not sold on Ariana as Glinda though. Based on this trailer, it feels like she’s trying to play Kristin Chenoweth playing Glinda. Whereas Cynthia very much feels like she’s making it her own instead of trying to copy Idina Menzel.
i have to agree. i also feel like all of kristins predecessors have given their own twist on the character. which makes it very noticable that ari has much more sticked to kristins rendition of the character

Act 1 Glinda is sort of insufferable (in a funny way) because she is that peppy and surface-level for most of the time. The levels and the complexity don’t really show up until Act 2 (at least in the musical). I really think compared to everyone else, Ariana is being given the biggest challenge out of everyone to sell her character with a movie split in two. I hope they find a way with the added time to give her more to work with.

Hmmmmm....gatekeeping musicals is an interesting decision and an interesting position to take with something like Musicals which are almost always about accepting all people and their uniqueness. But hey, keep hating and NOT learning the lessons from musicals. 😆
If you see the stage show first time there’s a lot to take in but if you see it at least twice it’s easy to “get” it’s fabulous .. i love all the top musicals Sondheim 🤗🌹 It’s incredible .. but not everyone will like it of course
I've never seen Wicked, but have seen a couple of show clips of only a song or two. I was far more fascinated about learning about the story after seeing this trailer because it definitely went in a different direction than I expected. I definitely agree that they read two different, I guess, maturity levels. I'm not worried about Ariana's vocals, but acting wise, in the trailer she's is kind of me Mean Girls. I have no doubts Cynthia will be amazing. Jeff and Michelle seem amazing as well. I love a good musical. I likely won't see this in theaters though to be honest.

It’s not a redemption. It’s just explained the sane events and characters from a different point of view.
Great reaction, John! Yeah, I'm not sure about this. The music is shitty to be honest Stephen Shcwartz is a hack and definitely no Sondheim. I don't think Arianna is talented enough of an actress for this. They should have casted Rachel Zegler.

I agree with you John the trailer does give off it's one sided, and also agree with their chemistry not clicking for me from this trailer, I will say tho having watched the musical, I felt this way about Glenda and Elphaba at the start and they grow into a dynamic duo, I also think they showed far too much in this trailer
