    ** SPOILERS **
The scene with Fyero is likely after the scene with the lion cub being experimented on in class where Elphaba curses everyone but him to steal the cub and they run away with the lion cub to free it.

Ariana started her music career on Broadway in 13 the musical. She sounds great in the trailer.

The reason they split it into two was because they didn't want to cut any of the songs and that would have made it too long for one movie. They also didn't think they could follow up Defying Gravity without taking audiences out of the moment so the first movie will end with Defying Gravity. They are pulling in things from the book to flesh out story and run time because there isn't enough musical for two 2 hour movies.

You are incorrect and correct at the same time. I had the blessing of working with the production team on these two films. If you take the entire Broadway Production of Wicked and “transfer” it to film it is SHOCKINGLY short. A lot of action happens on a stage that takes up time, and is okay and acceptable- it wouldn’t be in film. There are also a few ‘acknowledge the crowd’ moments followed by vocal runs. That had to be majorly changed. Lastly, the large group opening number is very important, but it takes up SO MUCH MORE TIME ON STAGE than anyone realizes. Broadway performances are very, very different than a recorded performance.
Now, This would mean- It all could fit in one film. Yes it could, it’d be about 2 hours long and the budget would be about the budget for this film. So why would they add the second part. TWO HUGE REASONS. Number one- The composer- He made it very, very clear that if it was going to be 1 film then they had to choose between- The Wizard and I & Defying Gravity, AND the final number had to be re-written, he thought it was too big. Right there, obviously you are doing a second film. As much as everyone loves defying gravity, The Wizard and I is the most vocally challenging song in the show. THE SECOND REASON, it doubles your budget if you film them together. This is why everything is such high quality. It was done with a $325 million dollar budget. The sets, they are all REAL. Like actually built. It was the only film set I’ve been on that has baffled me. You could walk through a field of- no joke- 9 million tulips they planted. You could take an actual ride on the actual train they built. The emerald city- was wild. There was so much glass. Munchkin land was insane. Even the university was HUGE, and they actually built the waterway and filled it with water. The last thing they did, to keep everything “Broadway” 97% of the stunts and trickery on screen is practically done. There were objects flying around on strings. People in the air. Her nickname was “Parkour Elphie” by wrap. It was nuts.
We didn’t fill it with boring crap or pointless nothingness. We repaired tiny, tiny parts of act I, and opened up on it. We got to show their relationship a little more. Their past a little more as well. Part II has 2 new songs written by the same composer, and the writer of the book and original play were there. They all felt that the story got built on in a much NEEDED and beautiful way. Act II had always been missing something, and we may have found it.

They are young adults in college not teenagers. The scene with Fiyero is when the lion cub scratches his fwde when they let him go in Act 1.

    *SPOILERS BELOW*
That moment between Elphie and Fiyero most likely is just before "I'm Not That Girl," which is in Act One. When the two run out of the classroom with the lion cub to save it, and the cub accientally scratches Fiyero's face. I think it's safe to assume at this point that Parts 1 and 2 of the movie will coorespond will Acts 1 and 2 in the musical.

Shiz University is a college. The only reason Elphaba attends the school is because of her little sister Nessa. Their father only sent Elphaba to Shiz so she can look over her sister. Elphaba is years older than her sister, so the age gap makes sense

  • @DDTC73

The 2nd film has 2 new songs, 1 each for Elphaba and Glinda. Also, re the ages of the cast, who says that OZ has the same academic ages that we do? Maybe Elphaba was held back by her father, because he was ashamed of her, and therefore went to college late!

The trailer is all act 1. Elphaba and Fiyero have a moment before she sings I'm Not That Girl. And don't forget the musical is told by Glinda of how she she became friends with Elphaba....so the movie will start off with the Witch dying,

***slight spoiler if you haven’t seen wicked***
I feel like the scene with Fiyero might be when they escape Dr. Dillamond’s classroom to release a captive animal (don’t want to spoil and say who or what the animal is) because in the musical Elphaba and him have their first intimate touch

The original production opened with a massive black hat, taking up half the stage and the ensemble came out from under it, it was then whipped down through a trap door, like the hat melting. Unfortunately it was cut pretty early on.

What makes you think that? I personally don’t see any indication of that in the trailer, they just haven’t focused on it. Elphaba even mentions “something bad is happening” - I can’t think of anything that could be referring to other than the Dr. Dillamond plotline

@@karabelle221 I could be wrong…but, it seems that way, because it appears that they have changed the problem from…the Animals losing their ability to speak, to…real magic being rare in OZ.
