Son of Natalie Cole Outraged Over Grammys Tribute: It Was Really Insulting

  • Natalie Cole's son says the first African-American to win a Grammy for "Best New Artist" deserved a better tribute. Robert Yancy says he's outraged his mom didn't get a star-studded tribute. "She has deserved so much more than that because she has done so much," he said. "It was really insulting," he added. Sisters Timolan and Casey Cole agreed. "Not even verbally mentioned. It was not something we felt was worthy of such an iconic star." #InsideEdition

Natalie won more grammy's then all of the ones who got a tribute put together. As a Grammy award artist alone she should have gotten a better tribute.

Wrong. Flat Out Wrong. Not only was she a star singer in her own, but her father, Nat King Cole was too! That is two generations of music...great music! 😯 If anyone deserved a tribute that night it was her. Not even the BET Awards did her justice. Disrespectful. 😒

It is ridiculous to have snubbed her of all people. I mean, Natalie Cole had quite a few hits on her own (including This Will Be which is a legendary track), and she even won a coveted Album of the Year grammy among the other grammys she won.

    Dearest Robert,
I am so sorry for the scandalous HORRIFIC treatment of Natalie by the Grammy's and also will NEVER watch them again! I lived five minutes away from Natalie's home in Hancock Park where we both went to 3rd Street School. I remember her singing every morning on the way to school, her knock out talent even at the age of seven. Those years with her father, Nat, Ella, Tony Bennett, among many others. We played baseball next door to you as my brother often intentionally hit the ball into your backyard for the thrill of retrieving it, but more, to see Nat's amused understanding. Far more moments I have and will always remember. To this day I listen to her singing, "If love ain't There...Better face the facts old buddy...", warms my heart when it needs a little warming. NATALIE WAS STARDUST!! Everlasting love to your family.

Definitely insulting, she had more history and made more of a legacy than all the other tributes, may they rest heavenly but the Grammys like all big machines will do this just like the heinekin beer commercial, lighter is better! All the light artist got tributes, the only one who's won Grammys in multiple categories and was the 1st black to win in one category, coupled with the shared Grammy win of Unforgettable with Nat the King! She deserved an incredible Grammy sendoff, BET could've did that, smh!

The FIRST Black artist to win Grammy Best New Artist. Star in Hollywood Walk of Fame ! Her own TV Special!
