And they say you can't do this after age 50. Neal Smith still kicks ass!
He got it right when he wrote it. EVERYONE else who plays for Alice ALWAYS overdrums this song which is already drum driven right from go. No to disrespect their talent but you listen to just about anyone else who plays it and they are totally overplaying it. Neal knew what this song needed.no more no less.
There was "no one" like the original Alice Cooper group, these guys were such a huge part of classic gold during the 70's so sad to lost Glen Buxton RIP also a nod to Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner RIP
Donovan took this song to another level that cannot be duplicated.
Yeah...his vocals on 'Billion Dollar Babies' are a beautiful counterpoint to Alice's... it's a wonderful song! Always has been, always will be!! :-)
The original band is was what made Alice ... after that, zzzzzzzzz.
Glen Buxton R.I.P.
Brian Maurer R.I.P.
It was a bad mistaking when Alice left his original band. OK Alice enjoyed much commercial success but you cannot beat the material crated by his original band.
You are exactly correct. The original members had the charisma which made it all work.
That's Entertainment Absolutely correct! Neal Smith and Dennis Dunaway! Bruce and Buxton too but Smith and Dunaway probably best in the business ever!
Not to mention Michael Bruce composong and arranging almost anything that the Alice Cooper Band did that was worth the shit.
Bingo. Same with the band Heart as another example.
The band wanted to get away from the love show... They were not good musicians, basically. Guitars in schools out and billion dollar babies were not even by Michael or Glen. Muscle of Love was where they were heading. All members owned the name Alice Cooper. They were paid well through the years by Vince.. Alice... for the name. I do miss the original band live
I remember hearing the song Eighteen for the first time in ‘71 when I was 15. Been a fan of Alice ever since, I just read Dennis Dunnaway’s book about his life with the band. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it for any Alice Cooper afficianado.
Yeah.... it's a great book: Well written, funny stories, and a lot of love for Vince (Alice), and the O/G ACG band... I've been into them since Schools Out in '72...second only to The Beatles for me.... I grew up back then, and their music is stuck in my heart ever since! :-)
WOW!!!!
Thanks for posting.
The 1st time I saw Alice Cooper ...I was 14 with a fake ID.....Love It To Death tour...The Depot Minneapolis...1971....Instant fan. Glitter/Drag Rock was born and so was I!
+Wayne Jensen Same time...first rock concert !!!!!
I never got to see them. Damn! But Cooper was my first favorite band. And Killer remains as one of my favorite rock albums.
I saw that tour in the Buffalo, NY area at Melody Fair, and they still had a lot of the feel and look of their original first two albums on the live performance. They opened with Sun Arise! Tremendous...!
72 in Tucson, Az. First Alice. First Purple Haze. Have no idea why I thought it would be a good idea to see Alice on acid. But, it was. And, my old ass would do it again.
@@davidweatherholt7263 LOL! Early Alice was still 'rough around the edges' for Purple Haze in '72! Definitely not for the squeamish!
kudos to Michael Bruce for his recent slim-down. The difference is stark!
I had the original 45!! Still one of my favorite Alice Cooper songs ever!!! ❤❤❤
They were never meant to break up as a band. Just watching this video shows a major of energy force to be dealt with.. 🎸🎸⭐️⭐️🤙
Denis Dunaway Has always been Bad Ass with his bass lines on "Love it To Death" and "Killer" albums.
Man, I wish these guys would do a tour!
Steve Hunter is the perfect choice to replace Glen (RIP) Buxton.
I can only dream . . .
This shows that Michael Bruce is no slug on guitar, rather unfairly his skill has been unsung.
Dennis Dunaway is so cool.
There's a reason to retire at the top of your game. It never got any better than this album.
This is the first time I've seen this...It seems not right seeing Dennis and Mike on the "wrong" sides of the stage. Dennis and Glen were always Stage left, while Mike held his spot on stage right.
Really glad to see Alice Cooper back together playing one of their best; which started from Neil's opening drum riff. I would love to see the band do a couple gigs like Cream did a few years ago. Play the Hollywood Bowl, Cobo Hall and MSG. I don't what the tickets would cost and I'd fly all the way from Japan to see 'em. One of the best rock bands ever. end of...
In a word-FANTASTIC!!!
WHAT FUN is this! thanks for posting:)
@alwaysopen Well lets talk..I was a personal friend of Dennis Dunnaway and the other guys from the band. Hung out with them and the likes for many years. Maybe that's why I take such offense when someone bad mouths them......I played backup to the MC5, Cradle and Dick Wagner. Hung out an entire night with Ted Nugent and the list goes on and on. The road is a hard one. Not always a ball of fun. Mechnical falures with the truck, equiptment breaking and at times coming up missing.
Dick Wagner did some great work before working on Nightmare.....He was lead guitarist for a band named The Frost.....Another group ahead of it's time...........Songs were great along with the vocals and harmonies for the time.....It wasn't bad growing up 50 miles from Detroit in Toledo, Oh.............lol..............
Neal Smith is as far from average as it gets.....Platimum God is more like it. They all kick ass here, R.i.p. Glen
F’n GREAT ‼️🔥🎸
Fantastic, no other words needed
Lets put this to rest..Next week I'll be 59..I still have my 65 SG Jr that I had gotten for Christmas in 65 and too I have a 61 Les Paul Jr double cutaway that when we played back up to the MC5, Fred " Sonic" Smith had a white Les Paul Special double cutaway that we played each others guitars for the time that we spent in the dressing room before the show.......I too never sold out as I still have hair to my waste and my wife of 37 yrs just let me buy a Mesa Triple Rectafier Amp.
Dunaway rocks! Bruce too..the dream comes true!!
It is wonderful to see my favorite drummer get back where he belongs, Neil Smith needs to be the guy doin that right there with Dennis Mike n Steven Hunter, Steve is also a great player
Amazing!!! The greatest band in the whole world!
look at dennis just being cool in every way :D i would love this to be the line up of the next alice album. just one last album with the surviving members. not just a couple of songs. i mean actually write with the band for a full album. the last album was a step forward for that - now go all the way with it! bring out an album like "bones from the yard" which if you ask me totally should have got more credit and promotion!
Saw Dick Wagner play in a little bar in Rankin Michigan once he was incredible
Dennis isn't doing that funky little step kick step dance he always used to do
I noticed that :/
Tom Tate But he still plays at his knees. And he's still the distilled essence of rock and roll.
Here, here... I second that...
I am f***king blown away
Great with Steve Hunter (the Originals) - Go on a World Tour
with this Formation / Band !!!!
They are the Best !!!
I see Michael obviously... and I'm assuming that's Niel on drums (who always wanted to own "One more drum than Kieth Moon".. and he did).... but is that Dennis on bass ?
Finally he weighs more than a hundred pounds ? Heheheh.
Great stuff !
That's Dennis!! Go to his Facebook.. Which I don't have.. Or his Twitter. He will talk to you personally
This was the actual band who performed BDB on the album.Wagner played all lead,Buxton didn't play a lick.
Steve Hunter Toured with Alice Cooper on the Welcome To My Nighmare Tour... Great Guitarist..
From the lousy town of Decatur Il. A rat's ass town and would rival Detroit if it were close to that size for armpit of the world. Steve was lucky to get out.
Alice -Cooper group, Blue -Oyster Cult,-Grand Funk Railroad! The royalty of American rock!!
dennis is in video ..Glen Buxton died a week after a 97 reunion concert..
THEE AMAZING Mr. Cooper !!!!
....We go dancing nighty in the attic
While the moon is rising in the sky
If I'm too rough, tell me
I'm so scared, your little head will come off in my hands...
HOLY feeeiling...thats so cool... I adore this fuck*** tune!
nice!
This is so good and Neal Smith is still a great drummer
I wish this line up works tour
Micheal Bruce is one of the biggest influences on this so called Alice Cooper shit....Sorry Vince
@alwaysopen You tell me how many new groups can actually play or even tune there instruments with out aids like auto tune, etc. Most all the new music is total junk. None of them are song writers and all there recordings are done on computers with the likes of Pro Tools and Reason to say the least. Like I said before, we all get old. There is still a friendship that will last forever between bandmates. What they did in the late 60's and 70's was magic. No one can ever take that away!
Sometimes the oldest is the best
Alice always called keith moon the "greatest drummer" but i think Neil was technically better!!! "average" my ass!!
Alice Cooper kicks ass
NICE!
maybe I'm wrong .... who said talented musicians have to be attractive ? I wish MTV had never been created . LISTEN to music with your ears , not your eyes .
I'd like to see more of the original line up.
wow..awesome :)
The original Alice Cooper band was the shit !!!
Look at D.D. GO!!!!
Who is in this band? I see Micheal Bruce has put on some weight. Is Neal Smith on drums and is Dennis Dunnaway on bass? who is the other guitarist ? Isn't Glen Buxton dead? I saw these guys in Pittsburgh at the civic arena in like 1974 on the Billion Dollar Babies tour it was fantastic. One of the best shows i ever saw if not THE best.
😍❤️💯🤟👍
@yellowcobra1
What would you know about taking a band out on the road?
No dioubt Steve Hunter is a GREAT guitar player but Micheal Bruce would've done just as well as he was EVERY bit the guitarist that G.B. was, and likely a rival to Hunter, as well as the original compoer and arragnger for all these songs.
Dick Wagner and Steve were the guitarists on the Billion Dollar Babies album.. Also with Alice in welcome to my nightmare. They were first in Lou Reed's band.
@@Johnny-lc1ci I had all those albums back in the day, all the AC albums, and Lou Reed 'Rock & Roll Animal' live album, listening to those two trading licks on 'Sweet Jane'. It was great growing up in the 70's.
As far back as KILLER, the guitar work was by other musicians. UNDER MY WHEELS lead was recorded by Rick Derringer.
How can it be a reunion
when one of them is dead?
@yellowcobra1
Let's leave it at this...Dennis Dunaway was the best one in the band. His bass playing made the music musical. Vince was a punk rock singer, Neal Smith was average, Mike Bruce was a journeyman guitarist and GB was a studio musician. It worked when they were all together but their schtick got old. They brought in Hunter and Wagner to do the studio work just as Aerosmith did. Most of the bands I was in broke up for one reason or another though I still jam at 54.
😝👍🏾🎶🎶
eu sou gay e adoro esta musica
Great but too bad the guy couldn't keep his thumb off the microphone on his phone.
@Rattshewantsmoney Maybe you are just ignorant about what he's done since. He's kicking ass. He's better than ever.
oops, meat Hunter
what da
Boy has Michael Bruce sure beefed up.I look at films of Greg Lake and see how much he has gained as well. I am embarrassed for them. I know it's just me but if I had made an exorbitant amount of money I would have put in a fully equipped gym in my home, along with the pool.Thirty minutes on the treadmill 3 times a week. That's all it takes. Can you imagine what they would look like if they would have taken care of themselves like Sting has?And what happened to Dennis Dunaway? Is he still alive?
Looks like Alice had packed on a few pounds back then
Bruce should have sang it.... Alice sounds like shit here. The rest of the band brought it home though.
Yeah you're so right @Rattshewantsmoney ... 22 albums of BS. Nothing good in there at all. Your ignorance is breathtaking.
