"Suella Braverman's Sacked" - Marsh Family fourth adaptation of The Wellerman (in their trilogy)

- Some small causes for celebration, and glimmers of hope this week for us in the British news cycle: the UK Prime Minister finally sacked failed Home Secretary Suella Braverman on Monday morning, and then on Wednesday morning the UK Supreme Court ruled that the government’s plan - her flagship strategy - to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda (which we sang about in our Paddington song!) was illegal.

As you may know, we had created a trilogy of satirical two-minute shanties about this minister’s comings, goings, and utterings in the past twelve months:

But we got so many requests this week that we capitulated and added an epilogue.

Dear Marsh Family, I stumbled upon you during the lockdown and have been watching every video since. As a German, I don't always grasp all the details of what you discuss, but I'm still enthusiastic about all the songs. You have a great sense of humor and consistently address core issues. It’s basically satire in parts but it’s also true what they singing about and majority of population agree with them. It’s basically mocking far right which no one likes.

I had to seriously laugh out loud when I read the title of your newest upload.
Now, I am not British, and learnt about Suella Braverman first via your songs. So, reading the title, I thought: "Wait, now - she's gone? Again?"
Great addendum - let's hope that the Tories abstain from enabling a part 5 and 6. If's things come that far, most franchises take a turn to the tedious. So, I seriously hope that they will spare you the pains of going into extra time yet again.
We've not seen the last of her yet unfortunately. She's not riled folk up for nothing, she's gunning for leadership after they lose the next election.

As fantastic as ever! I think 'megatonne shart' is the most incisive analysis of Braverman's time as HS that I've ever heard
It is encouraging to know that the MARSH Family has helped focus (and annoy!) those in power on the despicable plan to deport those who are seeking a safe haven. I wonder about Braverman's religious affiliation. The Christian Gospel I preached from several pulpits during my 35 years in ministry included a place for refugees, replicating the owner of a stable who made space for Mary & Joseph and their new-born infant. Most faiths include some form of solace to those in dire need!
A safe haven for refugees, yes, however illegal economic migration is a more complicated issue. I doubt that many posting here are directly affected socially or economically. Same with Just Stop Oil (most protestors white and middle to upper class) and ER. We need practical real-world solutions.
Brilliant! I volunteer at an independent homeless charity in Hammersmith, West London. We have been seeing a huge increase of new homeless people and asylum seekers recently evicted from hotels 😢

I love how you’ve taken a sea shanty tradition and adapted it to satirise modern politics. In days past balladeers would have done something similar.

I'm no poet, but I actually wrote a poem a week ago about her:-
I’m living in a sleeping bag, my mattress is a box.
I’m begging in the doorways, for cash as people shop,
I lost my job when the firm went bust; I couldn’t pay my rent,
But Suella thinks I chose this life, that I like this stinking tent.
I’ve nothing in my pocket, no cupboard full of food.
I’m reliant on the passersby and those with hearts of gold.
I had a mental breakdown, yes, I’m drinking far too much,
But Suella thinks I choose to camp to make myself look tough.
I’m not a perfect person. I take drugs, yes it’s true.
But if all you had was what I’ve got, then prob’ly so would you.
It may have been my fault, of course; perhaps I’m telling lies,
But if you take my tent away, in winter, then I’ll die.
Suella thinks there’s lots of homes for people just like me,
The Tories say its true, you know, so obviously it must be.
Yet somehow when I look for rooms I hear Suella’s voice,
No job? No prospect? And no cash? It’s just your lifestyle choice.
