I Turned My Old Jeans Into Denim Surfboard Fins

- Making Denim Surfboard fins out old jeans. For this twin fin set I modified one of my favourite templates I've made. I extended the back of the template to increase the drive and push I can get off the fins in weaker waves. The fins are made out of a Denim micarta fin panel that I layered up out of old work jeans.

“Today I’m gonna try something a little bit different”…I had to laugh when I heard that! 🤣 You’re ALWAYS doing something “a little bit different” ! It’s your MO! You are one of a kind Matt!…and that’s a compliment by the way! I was up your way for a funeral and stopped in to the Lawrencetown Surf Co. shop last Thursday ( Oct 26 ) to pick up a leash for my new board. My wife and daughter were with me and my daughter has never been to the beach so we drove over to check it out. It was a gorgeous warm day but there wasn’t much wave action and there was only a few surfers in the water. I was so hoping by some off chance that you might have been around for some reason, to meet you, but alas you were nowhere to be found. I even asked the clerk in the store if he knew you but he said he didn’t ☹️ I’m gonna have to make a special effort to get up your way and meet you and maybe shoot you surfing if you are OK with that. Anyhow, got the new board…CZcams video coming soon of the unveiling of it. A picture is worth a thousand words so I’ll stop typing…lol! Another cool video as always…fun intro…I wish my dryer could do that! 🤣👍 Cheers, John
Hahaha Thanks John! Some day I'll make something very different to switch it up haha. Thats awesome hope the new board goes well! I was probably busy editing this video, next time if theres waves let me know. Maybe I'll see you post a new video with your new board soon.

Those sound pretty awesome, I always wanted to make glasses frames. I'll have to look up his account to see them.
Great idea! And if extra stiffness is required you can always add some glass or carbon layers between the denim and maintain that nice texture 👍
Yeah that was my thought as well. I really love the texture on these. I have more denim so I can try a few more sets if these fail.

Maybe a little compared to wood fins but to fibreglass about the same. They are pretty thick though
