It was the beginning of a glorious summer weekend and I was pleased to be leaving behind the marshland of Kent and heading on towards the beaches of Whitstable, Herne Bay and on towards Thanet.
This was a fantastic 2-day seaside hike where the temperatures reached 30° and the sun was unrelenting 🌞
Another great vlog in the series, Matt. That left shoulder looked like your backpack strap had taken a few layers of skin off. Beautiful two day hike. Thanks for all the information along the way, and thanks for sharing. I've really enjoyed this and your other Kent Coast hikes.

Thanks mate! I've had loads of seafood but for some reason never really Oysters! They say they're an aphrodisiac?! Haha absolutely hours of footage on this hike, it'll be around 250 miles of walking by the end 🤯
Great to see this series again! The weather in the video feels like a lifetime away, with all the rain we've been getting recently. I've never really understood the appeal of Oyster either

When I was a kid, I used to think england was nothing but Stonehenge, castles & hogwarts. I don’t know if I’ll speak for most americans, but you kind of forget the UK is surrounded by water - it’s surprisingly refreshing to see these coastal walks of yours. Really grateful for these videos - sunburns and snotty oysters and all. ^_^

Hey Matt 😊 great start to your Kent coastal hike. I’m really familiar with all those beaches you walked through. My parents moved to birchington when they retired a few years back. Haha yes the seaweed has apparently upset some of the locals this year and last year. Doesn’t seem to bother my mum though she loves everything about that stretch of the coast you just walked. You got a lovely sunrise there after your camp. I always like seeing the different artwork of the beach houses. Great watching this first stretch looking forward to the rest 😊

Wonderful place, my friend, a typical town with a port, with typical things from there, it is similar to the port of San Clemente del Tuyú where I live, since the tides go up and down and the mud and sand remain exposed and the river rises when it rises the sea level. A beautiful rural area around, after the constant avenue, the pier, the beach and the buildings. A really great video, wonderful views, greetings from Argentina
Thanks Sergio, sounds like Argentina and England have some similar areas. They say that Argentina is more similar to Europe than South America. Hopefully I will visit one day 😁

Again it is interesting to follow your route. While the path has largely become easier the landscapes are still not so attractive other than being beside the sea. The sunrise was particularly lovely. Beautiful images there. There was some historic interest now and I did like the harbour at Faversham and also Whitstable which we have visited. I like oysters when fresh and the best to my mind are those on the beach at Cancale. They really do taste of the sea and are not too snotty. It is great following this series especially seeing those bits of the coast we have missed out on our travels. See you again soon.
Thank you Ivor! I have to say Whitstable is probably the most pleasant place along the North Kent coast although it's a little crowded on a warm day. It doesn't surprise me that the best Oysters you've had are in France. Take care!
Reculver Towers, what a pity you couldn’t get close. Great spot for your wild camp. Nice dawn walk into the rising sun! Nicely decorated beach huts! Smelly seaweed, usually full of flies too! Young lad larking about in the seaweed, priceless! 😂 lovely looking breakfast even if it wasn’t Doctor approved! Margate looks lovely ❤
Yes the seaweed had its fair share of flies 🤢 love those dawn walks, best part of the day for me! Even if in summertime it's a little bit too early at 4:30am 🥱
Fish and chips, now we are talking, looked good quality! £14 theres that divide again! Prawn crips! 😂a carb crash and an ascent, don’t envy that! Well done on conquering it, the shade must have been a blessing! The fort looks impressive in the distance.
Even down south £14 is a lot for fish n chips! On reflection I shouldn't have ordered the large portion 🤪 I'd love to know the thought process behind the person writing 'prawn crisps' on the wall 🤣
