Shireen was the saddest death in my opinion
Because in the show her death was meaningless. In the books Melisandre and Selyse burns her because they learn Stannis died at the hands of the Boltons while taking back Winterfell. They burn Shireen to bring Stannis back though the news end up being false at the end.
Agreed. I knew it was coming because it's the exact plot of the Greek tragedy Iphigenia, but I still was not prepared for that punch to the gut.
@@allyriastark3508 Shireen isn't dead... yet. She will definitely die in the Winds of Winter, but probably not because of the bastard letter. Also, Stannis is definitely not dying at the hands of the Boltons.
She didn't know what would happen before she saw the stake. And when she started to scream for her parents.....that was heart breaking.😭

Shireen was such a good person, rare in GOT. Did not desearve that fate...so sad..
Shireen was the only Baratheon i didn't not like for one reason or another. She was just a very smart, nice girl. In other words she was marked for death because this is Westeros. That being said however, i was generally annoyed with her for living on Dragonstone. So it IS nice to see Baratheons in general being punished.

By that i assume you imply that Baratheons are "good" and Targaryens are "bad"? hm. Stupid.
I imply that people judging those characters, who are mainly wrong displayed just on what the see on the show, are stupid.
House Targaryen was a great noble and amazing house. The Baratheons themselves have Targaryen ancestors, and I would be cutting my own flesh, if I stated, that all Targaryens are "bad" or stupid. But what is left of them in 300 AL, is just a poor shadow of what this house once was.

Eh, House Baratheon was rumored to have been started by Aegons bastard brother, but when George specifically states something as a rumor... well its not to be taken at heart. Orys Baratheon certainly didnt have any physical Valyrian traits, and if he was a bastard by some woman on Dragonstone, who's peasantry has always had some Valyrian blood in them, you'd think they would be a compatible genetic match and Orys would have had purple eyes or lighter hair or something, but he's described as looking nothing like a Targaryen. Thats why i dont believe that the Baratheons are related to the Targaryens except through Rhaelle, and thats a whole generation removed from the current Baratheons anyways, and we know how badly Targaryen blood mixes with other bloodlines.
What a haunting rendition. I never realized Shireen sang a version of this on the show. Now you've got me reading all these Patchface theories all over again!

The stones crack open can also have a literal meaning :pearl shells opening.
The birds have scales : Literally, the fishes having scales.
This song was made by Patch face, a character in the books who's ship had drowned and he was the only Survivor. So, the lyrics can have a literal meaning as well.
Petyr Baelish patch face is one freaky guy. 2 seers in the books doesn't like him and actually very cautious about his true nature. My guess if they killed Shireen in the book will see the true horror of patch face. It seems Shireen is his only anchor to sanity

ik im a year late, but in literal meaning, to someone on the bottom of the ocean floor, the "birds" are fish, fish fly to the perspective of things like crabs, the snow falls up could be reference to how bubbles rise in water and they look like snow.
This song is deeply unsettling in the best way.

Karliene. This was amazing as usual. I'd love it if you did a version of "I loved a maid as fair as summer". It seems very important in the books, as characters such as Tyrion and Catelyn remember lines from it.

I absolutely love this song Karliene, you did a phenomenal job with it! I realize this is inspired by Patchface's riddled songs from ASOIAF, but it strangely reminds me of The Shadow Over Innsmouth (one of my favourite H.P. Lovecraft stories) whenever I listen to it. It's so pleasant sounding, yet haunting at the same time. I like to imagine it's the sort of song that a race of aquatic fish/frog humanoids with a horrifying aspect would sing in order to lure both human sacrifices and transitioning Innsmouth denizens below the waves. But then, much of the mythology of GRR Martin's world is borrowed directly from Lovecraft (such as the Drowned God, the Black Goat of Quohor and the Church of Starry Wisdom); so perhaps artistic inspiration has just travelled full-circle.
This just might be my new favourite of yours. Beautiful.

I'm probably late to the party on this but... I think it's about the destruction Valeria, they had dragons(birds with scales) a volcano shoots soot/ash into the air (snow falling up) lava can burn under water and force the fish to flee the heat( summer under the sea/ fish taking wing) eruption(stone cracks open) and finally the burned impressions of the people [like Pompeii] (shadows come to play/stay)
