Unreal. May be out of line saying this, but Maury Muehleisen's licks are almost as iconic as the lyrics & melody. Just so crisp and great. What a great player he was.

I 100% Agree!!!! No other artist can do that like Jim and Maury !!!!! I love every song by them, Jim wrote about his experiences. And sang from his heart!!! It upsets me they didn’t give him an award until after he passed, his wife accepted it!!! I’ve been listening to them for 52 yrs and never ever get tired of them. Love every song but some of my favorites are ,Time in a bottle (which was sung when I walked down the isle in 1978), age, speedball tucker, operator, working at the car wash blues, photographs and memories, You don’t mess around with Jim…….. I could keep going but I would be here all day!!!!

Somehow I found him standing outside one of the tents and did my absolute best to flirt my 10 year old ass off. He was so charismatic and you would think - because of obviously non-vogue model features - you would think he would have come off as ugly. His sparkling eyes, his deep voice, his musical magic - I was so in love. His plane crashed within a few months of that summer festival. Still in love.

I got to know about Jim Croce just a few years ago when Spotify pointed me to him . After that not a day goes by when I do not listen to a couple of his numbers . What a brilliant storyteller and an amazing sense of humour ! ‘ Operator ‘ always brings a tear to the eye !

I have heard every Croce song at least 100 times, but tonight, i sat down at the computer to play solitare because i'm bored. 2 hours later i'm still sitting here playing Croce songs over and over like i don't know the words to all of them.his voice still makes me smile. gone too soon. rip guys.

the 1st Jim Croce album i bought was about 1974, may have been this album, cause i sang about every word of all these songs......and learned to played a lot of them, from a song book i bought- played teh album a lot.....Jim is one of my heros and was one of the people who inspired me to write songs, Jim Croce-JOhn Denver-Kris Kristofferson- my heros....1st song i ever wrote was about 1986.... still writing and playing some....need to get out and perform, that really makes me feel liek im doing something I was made to do...maybe that is my next song....

I saw Jim play a few times, and his stories were always as welcome as his songs. One I remember is that he said he'd played a lot of bars, and things often got out of hand when the drunks started fighting. That's how he learned to never wear his guitar strap - at a moment's notice you had to be able to grab your guitar in one hand and use your other hand to jump over the bar when the bottles started flying. There really hasn't been anyone like him before or since.

    Jim Croce
    Jealosy in heaven
    just before the fall
    Angel choirs were looking down
    on earth as I recall
    Upstaged up In heaven
    Not as much appeal
    Croce singing folk songs
    Man it was so unreal
    The angels got together
    the saints began to pray
Things will be much better here
If we get Jim to play
If heaven gets a better man
    You know I'd be surprised
    Croce's axe made men relax
    put stars in women's eyes
    Better than old love songs
    as good as Yesterday
    anywhere that Croce sang
is where I want to stay
