    Just installed this knob and never had a Schlage with the feature where the door unlocks after you turn the inside knob. Had to make sure this wasn’t defective. And now I know. Guess it’s been a while since I had to put one of these on. They seem to last a lot longer than some other brands. Good vid, good install.

    • @ETPCYT
      @ETPCYT  Před 5 lety

      Yeah, it takes some getting used to :).. I hope this one lasts a good while. I will probably go with kwikset from now on.. I had a door handle w/ deadbolt installed on my door. A few years later the door handle fell off... they replaced it .. A great company that stands by their lifetime warranty :) Thanks, Duke for the feedback! I appreciate it. Have a good one, bro : )

    I just installed the new one and I got to take it back in the morning I got to take it off. The plate on the knob the screws won’t hold it in place it’s popping off with ease. And yes they’re the right screws. Plus the plates aren’t sitting right.

    At time mark 7:24-25 of the video, where you snap the outside of the dead bolt into place, what were you doing with your right hand that is not shown by the camera angle ? I am having trouble with mine snapping into place and wondered if there was something that needed to be done inside the mechanism to make that happen.

  • @Ranger42
    @Ranger42 Před 2 lety

    Excellent video. I just installed the same set with identical door swing. The only problem is that to lock the deadbolt from the inside, one has to turn the knob to the left (towards jam) but to lock the knob also from the inside, one has to turn the knob to the right (away from jam). Tried everything to try to change the directions on the door knob but no success. Very frustrating and it’ll take a while getting used to as all the other Schlage combo in the house lock in same direction, twisting towards the jam.

    We had a totally different lockset, BUT, the deadbolt was the same, with this problem. Once we installed it, we could lock the door but then not get the key out. We could only lock it on the inside IF we had the key in the door outside. What's up with that? So we went to the college of CZcams and found your vid. The part about turning that piece that connected the inside to the outside of the deadbolt 180° and reinstalling was the solution. Whudda thunk? Thank you so much for posting this video - with YOU having the same basic problem we had concerning the deadbolt.

    Awesome video! So I have run into some instant snags, the door hinges attached to the wall simply look they are attached to the wall and will not come out. The metal pieces are literally shoved into the my wall, any experience with this? I can’t install the new pieces until these come out. Thanks.

    • @ETPCYT
      @ETPCYT  Před 5 lety

      First of thanks for the comment and the compliment, James :) That is quite odd... I have never encountered any hinges that were not simply screwed into the door frame (and hopefully studs behind that). I am taking a shot in the dark here but is it possible that the hinge was attached at a different angle (for what ever reason) and the molding put on over the hinge so it appears as if it was shoved into the wall? That is the only thing I can think of.. I mean you would think it has to be screwed in somewhere and maybe that is just hidden? I hope this helps, Buddy. Have a good one. Let me know if you figure it out. It will help others with a similar situation :)

      it locks but this particular doorknob unlocks it when you turn it.. so open the door.. lock it then try to turn the outside knob.. it shouldn't turn but the inside one will turn and unlock your door

    • @koleyw932
      @koleyw932 Před 3 měsíci

      Yeah, I don't like that the doorknob doesn't lock from the inside, and the screws and lock placement is different than most doorknobs. The screws were difficult to install due to the weird angle, and the Schlage directions were pitiful. Thanks so much for this, I would've persisted until the screws were damaged.

    • @heavymetal801
      @heavymetal801 Před 3 lety

      @@ETPCYT I'll try to explain it easy, the outside door where I live (the door to get in the house from the street) it have a deadbolt and a door handle, so the only way to lock it from outside it's locking the deadbolt outside with the key, but people that live in the house, they leave and just close the door and don't lock it, so I need a door system that when the door gets closed, it automatically locks and the only way to open it's with the key, like the door knob from the video but without the twisting lock from inside.
