    I thought it was brilliant. It reminds me of a realistic Christopher Nolan movie with hints of an Apocalypse Now style mission. The music took me to the post Vietnam Era.
    Many wanted to know the cause of the war but the context of the war is not important. Most 21st century Americans (except the naive) know how this could happen.

      Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I thought Garland's directing was so top notch with this movie. I just wish his script would have been as good as the rest of the movie.

    Garland doesn't disappoint, another great film.
    Its not a docudrama just a really dark and violent piece of fiction.
    well cast and well directed with some nice cinematography.
    If you're looking for john wick style cartoon violence/story/acting look elsewhere

      That's fair if you liked it. I'm glad you did. Movies should be enjoyed.
      I wasn't expecting John Wick. I was just expecting something different. The cinematography was amazing. Garland's directing was awesome. It was just his script I thought was weak. But I'll still watch the next movie he makes with anticipation.

      At least John Wick delivers what it’s advertised as .

      @DIHUpodcast I think they did it to avoid picking a side, if that makes sense. But in reality, having California and Texas ally for military reasons would make total sense.

    • @DIHUpodcast
      @DIHUpodcast  Před měsícem +1

      The two biggest states sharing resources would be advantageous for both of them.
      I agree. I don't think they gave us much about the war becuSe they didn't want to pick a side or give people a reason to use this movie in arguments.

      @DIHUpodcast yup. The point of the story would get lost in political mudslinging.

      @@DIHUpodcast Great video by the way. The plot was weak. Why did the stoner guy that did nothing but drive the truck think he was going to get an interview with the president that was being hunted by militia group. Made no sense.

      Well there are those among us who are continually mentioning it and frankly they need to shut up already. The point of the movie which Garland newbs miss is the ending. The end is there is no government that anyone answers to i.e. the rule of law. What you end up is a military junta that is something like the CIA engineered for 3rd world country. We become a 3rd world country that has the rule of the bullet and not the rule of law. There is not a shred of democracy. That's Garland's point that people do not get.

    • @DIHUpodcast
      @DIHUpodcast  Před měsícem

      Why so angry at people expressing their opinions? No one is a Garland newb or maybe everyone is a Garland newb since he's only made 4 movies and 1 TV show. It's funny that you're gatekeeping a director because others don't agree with you. The ending was absolutely NOT the point of the movie and nothing you said makes any sense since the standing government was the issue and will now be replaced with a new government.

      @@fragout9575 I wouldn't say biased. I think most people go into a movie hoping it will be good. I had high hopes for a movie that wasn't a recycled remake . Given the premise the writer could come up with something creative and engaging, Afterall, the US does have lots of material he could of pulled from. For me, the highlight was Jesse Plemons character which was visceral and well done. It was the only point in the movie I wasn't sure where we were going. It needed more of that instead of making the audience feel they were just dragged along to the ending with some gun fire and sprinkled with a little chaos. I do, however, think Kirsten Dunst did great job making us feel how she felt, but in the end nothing in this movie made me feel it was special.

      @@pitbull1975 the marketing of the film did what it needed to do, get people talking and build it around current events to spark a divided view and expectation of it's premise. IF you (generally speaking) had political leanings that led you into one direction or another, then you would be disappointed in the overall feel of the movie.
      Not sure what you mean by "recycled", but other examples of "mid happenings" movie throughlines were Red Dawn, we didn't know why Cuba/Russia invaded the US, or how the invasion ended (respectfully) beyond the situation of those kids who told their story of survival and resistance til their end...
      There are plenty of war films that take place in the middle of the storyline and most of which only focus on the events at that time and for those involved.

      @@pitbull1975 Jesse Plemons role was visceral for sure....and while it was short lived, that and the gas station scenes showed the raw inhumane ways we fall into decay of logic.
      Another example of this is the Mad Max series and universe.... Again, another "mid happenings" apocalyptic dysphoric film, as well as Book of Eli... No one knows why, it just happened.

      @@fragout9575 No political leanings. No expectations. In fact, I was concerned it would have political overtones. If it did, they were nicely tucked away. I referring to Hollywood as a whole in not producing any original good films. Every thing is either a remake or the same movie or where they just race or gender swap characters.
