Hello Liberty Belle [ Liberty Belle Reacts ] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me.
Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Epicness right there on that stage. Two years ago I had somehow not heard of Nightwish or Floor and had not listened to symphonic metal. A good friend pestered me in to watching and listening to "The Poet and the Pendulum" live from Wembley 2015 and I was blown away and have been ever since. Phenomenal band with all members masters of their craft fronted by the best vocalist that I have ever had the pleasure and privilege to see and hear. So many gems to discover from the Nightwish treasure chest 🙏😊👍❤️

I really liked your reaction. And yes, Nightwish is a life altering experience.
All the small details on "How to react" will come with experience (Artist and song in the title, pausing and before continuing rewind for a few seconds, stuff like that...)
But please, try to improve your video and sound settings. You got a great personality, don't let this be ruined by a crappy video quality. It seems to me that you tried to record in FullHD, but that your hardware isn't nowhere fast enough to do that in a decent quality. Maybe scale down to 720p?
Anyway, looking forward to your next steps in your Nightwish journey, you are in for a treat...

If you follow the "road map" Gabriel gave you you'll have a safe and pleasant journey, it's been tried and tested.
When this was recorded Floor had been the replacement singer of Nightwish för just about 10 months. She did her first show in Seattle Wa on Oct 1st 2012 after the band fired Anette, their second singer. This was recorded Aug.3rd 2013.
This song wasn't on the set list for the tour originally since Anette didn't have the vocal ability to perform it. But Floor had heard the song when her first band After Forever" toured with Nightwish when Tarja, their first singer, was still in the band, and she loved it. So Floor asked Tuomas (the guy behind the keyboards) if they could make it a part of the set list. And they did, it was song number 13 of a 15 song set. There's som minor variations in the backing between Floors and Tarjas version, mainly that the choir have been reduced in volume. There's a video on youtube from, I think, Argentina, recorded Dec15th 2012. And there's one of Tarja doing it too. Floor stands just a tad under 6-2 in bare feet, and she's wearing 4 to 5 inch heels here....she's the Valkyrie Goddess.....Tuomas Holopainen is the keyboardist, co-founder (in 1996), leader, guru, composer, lyricist, arranger, and producer of 95% of the band's music....audience was an intimate little gathering of 82,000.....this entire legendary show is on both DVD, and CZcams, under the title of "Showtime, Storytime".....there are 4 other 4 concert videos on DVD and CZcams, 3 with Floor, and one with their original singer Tarja Turinen....follow Gabriel Bardac's list, and you won't be disappointed at all....hello from the Nightwish Army, South Carolina, USA.....

When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’.
Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera).
'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’.
Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’
Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see.
Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on CZcams. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered CZcams in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish.
Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of these and other presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Her latest endeavour is her stunning solo album ‘My Paragon. Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughters Freja (turns 7 years next march) and Lucy (born last october) ,a couple of horses, dogs and cats, she found this.

This is what you get when every other kid on the block in Finland is into music. We have the most metal bands in the world per population. The singer (not Finnish) is out of this world with her talent, obviously. Btw., our music scene is so varied, you'd need a channel just for that. To name just some acts: we lost just now 'The Walking Encyclopedia of Popular Music', Mr Raittinen, R.I.P. He loved country music and recorded an album once in Nashville with none other than Scotty Moore (who said: "Guys, this here is the real deal, a true music man" - and he had played with Elvis . . .). And our most famous rock band once called Hanoi Rocks influenced bands like Skid Row, Poison and Guns'n'Roses, to name a few. Maybe you might like to check out our only Eurovision Song Contest Winner, 2006, Lordi, who are big Kiss fans.

I just read what Gabriel noted. One addition I would make: This concert is pretty much the wrapup of the tour with Floor Jansen having come on board mid tour with 48 hours to lear the lyrics to their setlist. She was an emergency replacement and I was struck by how well she managed on the first night having gone back to listen to what's available from that venue. But after some months of touring with the group, this performance on the night was carried off like she'd been there for a decade. It's truly a stunning concert and individual set piece in the one you chose.
I too found Nighwish only recently and had that similar question of 'how have I never heard of this band'. Had a similar reaction with another band that had only been around 7 or 8 years when I found them, yet as popular as they are, had never heard of them either. Liliac. I found Liliac by chance as I tend to listen to covers and tribute acts for something familiar with a different twist that I can listen to while doing artwork. It's familiar so it doesn't wreck concentration but gives me a different approach on something familiar. Listening to them, floored me so I dug in and listened to everything they put out and did it through reactors so I could get more info on them from fans. And a reactor is how I found Nightwish. So finding one, introduced the other. To that end, thanks for the reaction - great one. And I would recommend Storytime from the same concert without batting an eye. The whole concert is worth the investment to listen to it.. but, Storytime from this event is just flat amazing.
One last thing.. the first Nightwish song I listened to was Phantom of the Opera with Tarja. I love the original but always felt like it was a bit off. When I listened to Tarja and Marko as the Phantom and Christine.. Stunning performance and best version of Phantom ever recorded imo. I say that while also noting Floor is indespensible. The two singers are amazing in their own right. I can't stand Floor's Phantom; but, it is no reflection on Floor. It's a matter of preference for the way it was done by Marko and Tarja. I love both of them; but, I don't have to dislike either anymore than I'd have to dislike Billy Joel to say Queen has my favorite song of all time. It is what it is. At any rate, welcome to Nightwish from a fellow noob. Cheers!!

our Dutch pride Floor Jansen is a soprano, with an range of more than three octaves from C3 to F6. Her singing style varies from opera and clean singing to screaming and grunting. She usually sings in English, but she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish

I only discovered this band last year on youtube and this song was the first song i heard , the next day i bought the live CD Showtime Storytime . I recommend two songs from this concert Storytime and Ever Dream . This song is the 13th song of a 15 song set , the stamina is amazing and i love the drummer

Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora.
Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy.
Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6).
She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉.
Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the setlist in 48h). On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.

Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot.
This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken (pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people (one of the largest heavy metal festivals in the world and one of the largest open-air festivals in Germany). The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival.

Un coucou de l'armée NIGHTWISH de France, avec un peu de retard ( beaucoup )très très bonne réaction à l'écoute du plus grand groupe du monde pour ma part. Vous venez de faire connaissance du métal symphonique et de notre reine Floor, mais vous n'avez qu'effleuré le dessus de l'iceberg et vous n'êtes qu'a l'entrée du terrier de lapin. Je vous souhaite de bons floorgasmes et continuez vos réactions nous serons toujours derrière vous pour vous soutenir pour notre groupe...... Encore plus d'écoutes s'il vous plait...... Merci. Continuez sur le festival du Wacken Open Air 2013, vous êtes sur de ne pas vous tromper, les quinze chansons du set sont des classiques pour tous les fans du groupe et sont à écouter absolument. Cette chanson est la 13ème sur les 15 du , ensuite toujours dans le même concert, faites le Ever Dream qui commence comme une douce ballade voix piano et sur un signe de Marko ( le bassiste ) continue d'accélérer pour finir comme un train à grande vitesse, ensuite je conseille une petite histoire comme Storytime un excellent rock entêtant puis essayez du plus lourd avec Ghost River pour entendre le surprenant mélange des voix de Floor avec Marko ou encore plus lourd avec Romanticide..... Et je pense que notre ami Gabriel Bardac devait arriver sous peu, ou être déjà passé vous voir, ( Un grand MERCI à Gabriel d'avoir repris le flambeau de notre regrettée Anne ) cliquez sur son nom et allez sur communauté, vous pourrez suivre sa liste en toute confiance avec les meilleurs mixages à la bonne vitesse et avec le meilleur audio mais ce n'est pas une obligation, juste un sage conseil pour entendre une petite partie du meilleur du groupe.
