- Unboxing & Installing Barton Industries Shifter for My Dodge Charger
Had this laying around for awhile, but ran into some issues from the supplier and the mailing couriers. I'm digging the color! It's sturdy and quite the easy install.
Thanks for watching. Don't forget to comment, give a huge thumbs up and subscribe! - Hry
back then was alot more easier to change
Thank you for making this! Just installed one in my ScatPack.
New here great video! Thanks for the detail.
I love how he said no homo 😂
Good job. I went with the hurst shifter.
thanks for posting got mine .about to try this
talladega2000 go for it! It’s still holding strong. No issues, keep me updated once you install it
How is sequential shifting compared to factory
@@Waltwizzle Honestly, I just chose it for aesthetics, but I preferred shifting with the aftermarket compared to factory.
Does the shifter still pull up ? Did you find that the bolt was set correctly ?
Nice clean Job,Looks Nice
anthony appreciate it bro. Thanks for the support!
A month ago I asked if you can use another gear shifter with the Barton’s. Yes you can. The thread has to be 3/4 - 16. Which a lot of shifter are not. But if you get a gear shifter where you can widen the hole to 3/4-16. It can
Thank you, you’re a badass
So your saying I can order any top to the shifter as long as it’s 3/4?
@@sidvicious4078 as long as the hole is widen to 3/4-16. I had a gear shift made for my Charger. I wish I could attach a picture
Informative video. Some of the videography wasn't at a good angle. You didn't show how the plastic electronics clip came off. That's probably the hardest part, and needs to be shown. But the stowing of the old shifter is a deal breaker. For the money spent, that should be built into the new shifter.
@@divemaster037 appreciate the feedback. Yea it was a turn off to a lot of people not having an option for the new shifter to work without keeping the old one installed. I tried to tuck it out the way, but i was still worried something might get snagged or clipped.
Can you attach another knob to the rod? Instead of using the ball knob
I wish they had this in F8 green
I'm sure they can make it for you. Just message them.
That so much better
Appreciate it bro.
@@infiltr8 dont need the period at the end bro
@@gemarnold1025 lmao i got u fam
Good Video CRAB!!
Whats up dude!!! Just found your channel, figured I would show some love for a fellow mopar owner. Red button hit!
Build it R/T appreciate it bro!
So the entire thing itself pushes down? Nice. I went with a Hurst shifter on my Daytona and Its so nice having something other then that stupid stock grip
K 1500 Yea it pushes down. It moves easy too like it doesn’t feel forced or unnatural. I considered Hurst as first as well, but the price was kinda up there, but yea anything over the stock clunky stick shift knob.
Did you disconnect the battery first before you begin working on the switch?
what is the thread size of it?
My service shifter light comes on, how to fix?
I'm assuming you installed a similar shift knob. Check all the connections and make sure nothing is pinched. I've read to also check the red tab underneath the coin holder to the right to make sure it isnt loose. Keep me posted, there are a few other things before you can rule out a trans problem.
I want to change my gear shift in my 2019 Dodge Charger but all the ones I find say not compatible if my current gear shift has button on shifter. I see yours did, is there anything different about how to use it?
That's odd. We have the same exact original shifter. How mine is used, instead of pushing a button to release it, you press down. The one I have on my car would fit yours too. Did you check the Barton website. They have plenty of models you might like.
Wrapping that microfiber towel around the shift today you put behind that panel why did you catch fire get hot later on
Did you ever get the “locking” issue resolved? It looks great!
It has some small issues. It got better with the weather. The grease tends to loosen it up when it gets hotter outside.
LOL.. They did the same thing to me also.. Sent me the wrong screw and sent me an email letting me know....LMAO But then when I went to install it I hade the wrong springs... But they fixed it all...Was all good in the end...
James Wade Yea, they were quick with fixing the issue. What kind of shifter did you end up getting?
Romeo_22 .. I got a red pistol grip with the black Punisher skull inlay. You can see it on my IG crazy4mopars.
James Wade I’ll check it out!
Any update? how are you liking it so far?
Funny you mention that. I actually finished a review for the shifter yesterday. I'll have it up shortly.

Should've used like a bigger joystick knob lol
38006 I actually thought about doing a segment with me taking it of the stick and using it but I didn’t wanna unpack all my gaming stuff
On my 2013 sxt they don’t have a shifter boot. Can I buy one?
Barton makes one for your model. Check their site.
@@infiltr8 so I don’t need a boot then?
@@infiltr8 I see the difference in the two thank you
@@bengarvey6881 nah. I kept the original stock boot. Only thing I changed was the knob. They also provide zip ties for the boot as well, so it looks tighter.
@@bengarvey6881 my bad. I read the question wrong. I had a 2014 sxt before this car, I dont think it had a boot.
Can I insall any shifter or there is a specific one ?
I believe it has to be a specific one. Since the wiring for the old one has to stay connected for the car to register it.
Any ideas about how can I find it ?
@@user-pq5rh2pm5h Check out Barton Idustries on google.
That is funny how you have to hide the shifter. lol, Nicely done.
Michael Beattie it’s BS! Man I just found something broke on the car, I’m really in my head about keeping it now
Romeo_22 hey you said something broke because of this????
What kind of loctite did you use? My kit didn't come with any?
Blue
@@infiltr8 cool man I'll make sure to get that. I just got my adapter from Barton and will be using a knob from shift dawg.
Shoulda gotten a manual transmission challenger.
Who cares?
Where can I get the original
The OEM shifter? If your looking for the stock shifter, try the parts department at a dodge dealership or possible facebook marketplace for anyone parting out a wrecked charger or challenger.
I wanna do the opposite I got a 2014 Dodge Charger srt8 don’t like that standard shift knob want the new ones
I think they have hurst ones for the 2014 models. They look clean too
@@infiltr8 thanks cuzzo
You ever get it done? Been wanting to do the same on my 14
Where did you buy it from?
It's from Barton Industries. The link is also in the description. They have quite a few options to choose from.
Okay thank you 👍🏽
I have got to admit, the last two installed you have done are nothing I'd do to mine. But this one sure is nice. Seems to be too much work, just for another look and feel. I love Mod'n cars, but this seems like something I'd never do. Great work sir...
Appreciate it bro. It took no longer than 15 minutes to do this install. Just had to do a few things in between with camera work n unboxing.
Ah okay..lol. I was gonna say man, this is way too much time just to install this. Good stuff.
Seems cheap to hide the shifter inside the dash like that. The new shifter looks nice but when i saw this online i thought it was gonna be a full replacement, not an abscess lol
Yea definitely sucks. Wish there was a better option. I mean we've had this platform for almost 4 years now.
lol they dead ass paid for shipping to send you a small zip lock bag
You have to keep the old shift knob connected so it does throw a code lol 😆 automatic challengers suck ass. Shoukd just grow a pair learn how to drive manual and buy a damn manual transmission challenger. I didnt have to do none of this shit for my SRT. Was as easy as just installing my new Hurst shifter lol.
Cool story bro. Who said this was a challenger?
@@infiltr8 lol charger what ever. Point is its an automatic and thats for lazy people. Why don't you just get a go cart instead. Why would you even wanna change the shift nob in and automatic to begin with. Not like you have any use for it only gear your ever gonna put it in is drive.
@@DudeItsDallyBoy Once again man. Cool story bro.
@@infiltr8 yeah, that's what someone who only knows how to drive an automatic would say lol.
@@DudeItsDallyBoy Im sure of it. Damn you got me. Some try hard idiot literally watches the video just to troll and assume I don't know how to drive. Enjoy your night dude I'm done with you
NOBODY CARES ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED IN THE BEGINNING....JUST PUT THE DAM THING ON NEXT TIME...NO-ONE ASKED FOR AN EXPLANATION
😂
