The Heaviest Podcast of All Time - Hudba
Travis really doesn’t get the credit he deserves for inventing the vocal style that every deathcore vocalist now uses. The zombie/tunnel throat stuff.
Yup, Travis truly pioneered that style and made it "popular" with his band
I think EVERY deathcore vocalist credits him for it
Is it weird that I've become accustomed to his ghoulish screeches and yet, when he speaks solemnly in just another body...gave me chills. Idk why
I have friends loosing their minds over Lorna shore and it’s like woah!! Travis has been doing this forever. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves as a metal vocalist
@@josegarcia-zl8wu True but honestly Will does it way better live, he has surpassed the teacher.
Travis has got to be one of the most genuine people in extreme metal history. Also we need to see Brian from TBDM on here in the future.
we went to summer slaughter and my friend was talking to a guy loading a uHaul and was just a super chill guy. i had no idea why we needed to speak to the guy and then he told me later it was the guy from Cattle Decapitation. was amazed. super nice guy.
Genuine? Travis in one of their comments called retarded to Epicardiectomy just for their clothes and for being from Czech Repúblic, dont get fooled by this interview.
@@blastbeatentodeath3971lol
@blastbeatentodeath3971 if he lied to like it that would not be genuine. Expressing dislike is still genuine lol
Love to hear Travis’s pride in Death Atlas. This album is absolutely outstanding, and I also think their best, and they really got jobbed by the pandemic and no ability to take it on the road. Front to back it fits together thematically and musically unlike any of their other albums. So great.
Terrasite is easily their best.
Death Atlas is the first Cattle album that got me into them. and yes it's b/c of the melody but it's so sick and heavy. love it.
I like Terrasite better than Death Atlas. Monolith is my fav. All the albums since The Harvest Floor have been brilliant though.
When Travis told me he liked Atlas better I was kinda surprised. But he also said Terrasite is getting the wildest press since Monolith.
@@johnstevens2972I really can’t get into Terrasite sadly. I love The Insignifiants and a few other tracks but the album as a whole just isn’t clicking instantly like the previous 3 did. Maybe I just need to keep listening
That was the album that got me into them. Specifically the actual song Death Atlas. Unreal.
Travis is the GOAT. When everyone was freaking out about Infant Annihilator, I was like " Travis did those vocals years ago"
Great point. Travis' band writes better music, too.
You are a real hipster 👍🏻
@@CH-ml4rzwas he wrong tho?
Goddamn knocking it out of the park with this. I still remember my first listen of Monolith of Inhumanity. What a GOATED record
I agree it's a monster of an album and their first album I listened to. Absolutely incredible
A true modern classic. Also a reminder that you don't need to tune super low to be irresponsibly heavy.
I've been a huge fan since the debut of 'To Serve Man' and after thoroughly taking it in I began telling everyone I knew that Cattle was something extraordinary, a band with a unique talent unlike anyone else. Little did I know how far they would take it. And I agree, Monolith is a MASSIVE leap forward for extreme metal. It's my favorite album of theirs. Humanure holds a special place as well. I'm not a huge fan of redux or re-recordings but I wish they would re-record it with proper production. I see that album as their 'fork in the road' so to speak, where they were straddling the gruesome yet tongue in cheek light heartedness of gross out while at the same time really starting to say something, bringing in the real world & fact based misanthropy. And Karma Bloody Karma was the next logical/pure organic step towards ripping people's eyes open who deny or outright don't care about who we are and what we do on this earth. But to me, musically anyway, Monolith is the pinnacle of their career. ALTHOUGH, if there's anything divine left piddling about in the cosmos,, it surely willed us this utterly brilliant track at the right time in history...
Long taint the old flesh!
@@Fo-Flats I would say Humanure and Monolith are tied for my favorite albums. I really can't choose one.
That albums still on repeat soooo fucking sick \m/
Didn’t expect Travis to get so vulnerable. This is gold.
This is Travis. Absolutely genuine. Great sense of humor! He is the best extreme metal vocalist! He is a pioneer. Ask him who his favorite vocalist is…hint: The Rack and Out of Body. 🤘🏽👹🤘🏽
@MilkyLore I'd say he's up there though, certainly _my_ favourite! Who'd you say is the best?
@@AVALARMusicOfficialIt's all a matter of taste. But Travis is one of the absolute best. He's at least the most innovative. Maybe don't like all his styles, but he's a fn artist.
@@toddapplegateVan D.
Last 15 years Travis influenced me in some ways. And I may have influenced him a little bit early on.
Travis in one of their comments called retarded to Epicardiectomy just for their clothes and for being from Czech Repúblic, dont get fooled by this interview.
2004.
I saw Cattle Decap open for Cryptopsy at a little now demolished club.
Travis was the most frightening fucking thing I had ever seen up until that point in my short musical life as a 14 year old.
Eyes rolling back, spitting up, convulsing around, making noises I had never heard a human make. Legend
It must have been amazing to see Travis back then. I wasn't even born lol. Nobody was doing what he was doing, he influenced a whole future generation of vocalists
he's a beast live
Garza! First Fetus now Cattle?!?!? Best guests! Gotta get Corpsegrinder or Webster and Paul from Cannibal on here! Goated podcast!
Also Devourment!!!
Pat O’Brien needs to be on too. Get him back in good spirits
@@brettmiller1511 boy do I have news for you
@rezmetalpodcaster how's he doing these days do you know? I haven't heard anything about him since that whole episode went down
@@jake4romst8farm Pat O’Brien is playing guitar for Exhorder. Seen them on the current overkill tour
Terrasite is phenomenally heavy.
Everything about it oozes vibe and his vocals are as gnarly as ever.
He's easily in the extreme vocal top 3.
First (ALL 3 of) Dying Fetus, now Travis? Didn't take long for you to make the best podcasts in metal! :D
Dude, same thought. This has the makings of a channel that will draw some heavy hitters out. Bill Steer when?
@@flyboymcgee8059Would love to have Barney Greenway
Travis is a beast!
Terrasite proves yet again that this band is evolving and standing toe to toe with the best. 'Just Another Body' might be my new favorite Cattle song!
His vocals are unreal and particularly impressive live. I was blow away by how ferocious and vicious his vocals are live. So good. I love his singing parts too. I was disappointed there isn't too much of that on the new album.
Yup, I was attending a summer slaughter tour, forget the year but the line up was rather boring and I was checked out, and then Cattle took the stage and utterly burned the place down, I was made an instant fan. I went to buy a shirt from Travis afterward and he looked like he was sick and not having a great time and despite that STILL put on a batshit insane show. This was around their Monolith of Inhumanity era and just fucking killed it. Dude is a legend
It’s unreal how he can do that singing thing and it sounds just like it does on record
There's a TON of singing styles on Terrasite. It's the most progressive album yet.
It's progressive AND brutal as shit.
Travis: "I don't know what people want anymore." WE WANT EXACTLY WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING. It's perfect. CD has aged like the finest wine. PERFECT.
Love Travis shouting out Blackbraid. The show with them and Cattle was awesome.
Finally man. I've been saying this! Travis has been doing these techniques for 20 years! He walked so these bands could run
@thenkdmolerat more like 30 years tbh
@@phillymopwater couple more years and he'll be there. He joined 26 years ago ❤️
Travis,
Death Atlas is my favorite record from you guys. The clean vocals are so haunting and catchy!
Garza once AGAIN coming in with the heaviest! Stoked for this one!
Can you say both these men represent garbage extreme canoe false metal. Give me deicde both thrower cannibal corpse benediction sinister and mortician for the real good heavy shit. The real death metal
🤘🤘🤘🤘
Cattle decap is first truly extreme metal band that wasn’t some core shit they I got into they will always hold a special place in my heart
I absolutely love Death Atlas! Glad to hear Travis speak so highly of it.
Great interview! I do love Terrasite, but Death Atlas felt special. Based on what Travis said I’m even more glad I saw them play it live in Cleveland at the Foundry right after Covid. Again, deep personal interview, well done!
I still think monolith is #1 been a fan for many years
Love everything about this podcast format Garza is doing. Great guy
Death atlas and all of the albums are amazing, truly great artists! All hail the cattle decap🤘
I cried during “Your Disposal” in 2017 when I saw them in Pittsburgh.
I'm super glad you have this platform where artists like Travis can talk about mental health and be open about himself.
Travis is one of the best vocalists and interview guests in metal. Glad ya'll were able to get him. Garza did a great job of asking guiding questions and letting him talk without trampling him.
lorna shore owe this guy a royalty cheque
Travis is one of the nicest people i know. On top of that hes the goat when it comes to extreme metal vocals. Happy to see him keep singing and seeing cattle keep evolving.
Enjoyed this ep. 👌🏼🔥
The culo clean device made me bust up 😂. But I'm surprised he never heard of a pack of baby wipes... 🤣
he stopped using those to use this instead.
Can't recycle baby wipes 🤷♂️
once you used a bidet youll understand. also baby wipes are terrible for plumbing and the environment which i think Travis is for.
I’m probably biased because Cattle Decapitation is one of my favorite bands, but this was one of the best Garza podcasts I’ve ever seen!
When Terrasite came out, Cattle instantly became my favorite band of all time. Only noticing, after listening to the album at least 4 times on repeat, that it came out on my birthday was just the biggest fucking cherry on top. I've shared the same views on mankind and humans, that Cattle Decap has, for the longest time and having this message put into songs that are being sung by such a sublime metal unicorn of a vocalist as Travis is immensely heartwarming. I sincerely wish that they'll one day go on a tour where I can finally go see them live.
My friend played "Death Atlas" for me while I got my second or third tattoo. It was the first Cattle Decapitation album I listened to from front to back. It is flawless to my ears.
Monolith of Inhumanity is one of my all time faves.
I had the pleasure of the playing with them back in 97 in oakland!
This episode was so awesome. Been a fan of cattle for 7 years now and it's cool to hear the lore behind the band and Travis himself
21:38 Right as he's saying "So it's not that it was this amazing, unwavering-" I was in another room and I thought I heard him drumming on the table real loud after saying that. After a few seconds I was like "Uh... is he gonna stop? Wait a minute..." It was an Evony ad with gunfire. 🤣
A Living Breathing Piece of Deficating Meat was a game changer. That was the song that brought me back to loving Catrle D after two lack luster records following To Serve Man, which I've come back around to love. I celebrate their entire catalog.
Monolith is still my fav CD album. Was easily my album of the year then.
From Harvest Floor to Terrasite they've all been great.
McGraw REALLY charged their dynamic. I saw Dave play drums before Cattle with Sleep Terror. And he was SICK well before Cattle.
I saw this band when the harvest floor came out at a small venue called the Gillman in Berkley. AWSOME ..AMAZING SHOW....THANKS MR GARZA....
Saw them then too. They had Revocation opening.
Great stuff guys. I wasn't expecting this whole episode to become so emotional towards the end...
WOOOAAAH! Very excited to watch!
So glad this came out. I’ve been looking for more interviews with Travis Ryan. Easily my favorite vocalist in history. 🤘
Happy to see he is getting the recognition, respect and credit he deserves!
Been waiting for this one! Thank you!
Love this band !!! Great insight on San Diego scene and they are still bringing the grind !!! Cattle Decapitation forever grind!!! Thank you Travis...
Great stuff bro. Your knocking it out of the park!
Thank u for the content Garza digging the guests
You a real one for this, Travis the GOAT
so glad that you are doing this, well done!
what a great podcast garza, really nice dude, so human, thx for this treat!
Death Atlas in my personal opinion is a masterpiece and my favorite metal album to date
a-mazing interview. loved every minute of it!
This was a great interview-the questions were good, and Travis seems like he’s doing a lot for himself personally as far as musical interests and mental health awareness, so kudos to you man. It was really cool to hear more about the music-making process, and vocal development over the years.
My dad is currently going through treatments for late-stage cancer, and at the same time, my own band is getting some real traction, and even though it sucks to hear that Travis has been through some shit these past few years, it was uplifting to hear him talk about it, and to see the passion he still has for making music. It’s not always easy being excited for something really good happening, when something really awful is going on simultaneously, so it’s been hard to stay motivated. Thanks for opening up about all that-I don’t know about anybody else, but it helped me to hear.
Cheers!
I love these guys. Their music is amazing. Their message has a deep meaning. They inspire me, I feel like I've known them my whole life, even though I've only been a fan for 3 years.
Stoked for this! Cattle Decapitation is easily one of my favorite bands ever and Travis is SEVERELY underrated as a vocalist. Thanks for having him on the show!
Very awesome interview I love Cattle Decap!!
That was a great interview. Loved hearing the discussion about the emotional “ballad” pieces on the latest records. I remembered them as the local vegan grindcore band from my hometown but when I checked out their newer albums a few years ago I was so enamored with the emotion behind it. And the subject matter of the records really resonated with me as well.
One of my favorite dudes ever! Great convo
Love hearing from travis, need to hear more from this guy 🍻
Metal artists are my favorite people by far. It's not easy to be vulnerable and learn that it's healthy, metal is a huge help to embrace any emotion and find a way to express whatever we have inside..
Solid interview. One of thee best live bands I have ever seen. Travis looks passed when he’s up there singing. Also shook hands with the guy in the bathroom in Brick by Brick in San Diego. Solid band and solid albums. Keep it up Garza!!!
Damn, Travis going and making us all feel emotional. Such a pioneer in music, and I am so glad he has inspired so many vocalists!
Great interview, Travis seems like such a genuine down to earth and good dude.
Another great one. 🤘🏼🔥
What a fantastic interview. Travis is by far one of the most interesting guys in metal, loved this interview.
I'm must say I've never gotten into podcasts until finding yours. I really enjoy your show. Awesome interviews.
Fantastic interview brother. Great human insight to Travis's personality. I can really relate. Thank you, awesome podcast
Honestly one of my bucket list bands, so happy they came back to my country
Great episode! I was lucky enough to catch Cattle Decapitation open for Amon Amarth and they had such an amazing presence!
Death Atlas is amazing and I hope the 'melodic' vocals come back full force next album.
Travis is a real dude. Excited for future Podcasts!
Dude Garza this one was amazing Travis is by far one of the sickest most inspirational vocalists!!! What a sick ass interview 👏
They got me to become vegan shortly after the release of the anthropocene extinction 💪💪💪
another banger interview from Garza, underrated channel. keep doing it brother!
This podcast made me love Travis so much more. Got more into Cattle this year and listen to them everyday now
Would honestly love a short EP of songs with vocals like the cleans on Mammals In Babylon, Ave Exitum, and Just Another Body. Travis’ cleans are so damn dope 🖤🖤
A true pioneer. A true king because he does not ask for nor want the crown. I dug monolith. I liked Anthropocene more. Death Atlas blew me away. Terrasite I was like "Holy shit. They did it again." Killer band. Killer live show.
Gotta love Travis. I’m gonna see Cattle Decap live for the first time in September. Beyond hyped!
Monolith to inhumanity is one of my all time favorite records. For the subject matter being so dark, it’s a lot of fun to listen to. It’s a rollercoaster of an album. Love that these guys stick to doing what they want instead of riding trends.
Was not expecting a Soul Jazz Records shout out, excellent label
Awesome interview for sure I saw cattle decapitation live in Portland Oregon that show blew me away brilliant lyrics but you guys are so right sometimes relationships go through hard things but when there's a close friend that passes away and then you see somebody you see that person all you have is love and that was awesome to see Travis Express that I wish him the best and safe protection for the band on the road 🤘🤘💀💀
Death Atlas is a fucking CLASSIC, hands down.
I love how excited Travis got talking about laying down his own vocal tracks to Megadeth and Testament instrumentals when he was a kid. It's so relatable. Travis is a legend.
On a tear with these eps dude. Fuck yeah.
another fantastic interview!!!
GARZA - bro I could hug you out of your boots for this interview. Thank you!!!
I had no warning that id wake up and see the best interview of Travis I've ever seen. Awesome! Also, Death Atlas is the best.
This interview was so deep I enjoyed every minute of it!
“Tongue Oriented Mouth Sounds” Great name for your first book Travis 🤘😎 Looking forward to reading
Growing up in Escondido and going to high school with both Travis and Diego in 1991 it blows my mind that I am sitting here in 2023 reminiscing in this way. We had common friends, but never really connected.
I have loved Cattle Decap for a long time and I am So stoked to listen to Travis share his thoughts! Best podcast man! Also I had a crazy run in! Two days after the Ov Sulfur episode dropped there I am at work in a meat department and Ricky Hoover and the guitarist Chase walk right by me! I had to stop them and say whats up they were super cool! I mentioned how much I enjoyed the episode! Thanks for the content man!
Great interview. Awesome band both on album and live. Death Atlas is their pinnacle (so far!) for me.
This is such a good podcast I’m so glad i stumbled upon Garza and his interviews recently. I wish I could have met people growing up who like Metal and extreme metal. I’d love to have friends to jam Metal with.
Great stuff! I love cattle decapitation!
I'm approaching one year with a bidet installed in my bathroom. Travis is spot on. It's life changing. Never going back. haha!
My favorite death metal vocalist! The last five Cattle records are GOATED
Travis is one of thee coolest dudes I ever met. Super nice guy and lots of talent.
Travis Ryan is one of rhe most insane vocalists of all time. Everything he does with his voice is so grotesque but also impressive.
So rad! Hell of a interview.
We need more podcasts for metal bands, for real.
I'm new to this band but what sealed the deal for me was how nice and cool Travis is and also the fact that he loves a good Bidet. What a legend 😆
I know what I'll be listening to at the gym for the next few months.
I think maybe Cattle should do a full tour of playing Death Atlas all the way through. Every song is good enough and it would give it the attention it deserves. thanks for this podcast
