#DIY #build #woodworking #palletwoodprojects pallet wood projects - Jak na to + styl
Matthew, besides your creative talent and ability to inspire beginners who need a nudge, you come across as a man we’d be proud to call a friend.
Thanks to everyone who agreed with me!
Instead of Fight Club- you're starting a Wood Club. Just abide Rule #1. And I already broke it!
😂
With a smaller lip, that "cookbook holder" is a tablet stand.
Many of is use a tablet as our cookbook, so ...
I love that chest of drawers in the background of this video. It looks like it split up the middle. That thing is amazing.
Matthew has videos of making it. Not sure about plans.
I’ll be honest.
Your channel is the reason I am getting into this craft. ❤❤❤
Same here. Matt, I'm a 66 year old woman who was never taught about wood working or power tools. But during the past year, while watching your videos, I've started becoming comfortable using power tools for small projects of my own. I'm making a pallet wall for my kitchen, and then a wishing well to cover an unsightly old brown-shingled "doghouse" which is covering a cistern that by law can no longer be used. After that, who knows what I'll create. Lol.
Lol, Im already going to spend half of my next shop day cutting 30° strips for an end- grain cutting board I'm working on for a gift. Ill spend a little extra time cutting some 1x12s for those cookbook holders. Thanks, Matthew!
this is going to sound corny but you are one of the only CZcamsrs that when I watch your videos I feel like I'm just one of your friends hanging out in your shop and you're telling me your new ideas. You are amazing. Thank You!
I’m so glad that you said that comment, because I always feel the same way when I watch him like he’s one of my buddies that I hang out with, but the only difference is I learn something from him every time lol
That doesn’t sound corny my love! I feel the same way… Matthew is brilliant 🔥 I love him so, and I love how beautifully positive this community is ❤️ …I wanted to be a cabinet maker since I was a little girl, but nobody would give me an apprenticeship because I was a girl.. 🥺 I think this has changed today (I’m old) Pardon squirrel! My point is… this lovely young man makes me feel hope, and he’s amazing 🥰
@@heather2493I had somewhat the same experience.... I've always wanted to do woodwork since I was young and I wanted to take shop class in 6th grade, but the school told me that I couldn't since I was a girl.... They told me that I could take home ec though 😕😒
Thank-you for all that you have done for us as a community of woodworkers, Matthew. You install confidence and provide inspiration with your down-to-earth approach, clear step-by-step guidance and great insights. And I truly appreciate your presentation style - no hype, no self-aggrandizing, no condescending comments for those of us who are (as yet) not, shall we say, precise and talented. You are a rare gem in a (virtual) world full of rocks!

Don't let the Wall Fall would be a cool name for it.
The windowless PB van will pull up on Peech one day.
I'm willing to bet that they better not try it anywhere close to his house or shop!
@@Jimc4007 😂I’ve seen the concealment builds.
@@westernmac5944so true!
I subbed as soon as I saw the split dresser behind you! Brilliant!
One up your big jenga. Laser 9 different images on the top side of all the pieces. 9x6=54. Top side so you can’t see when stacked. Create an adult list or kids list of actions corresponding to each image. A fun rule is to reverse the order. Another great one is the person has to pick from the 5th row or lower their next turn. Be creative. Adds a ton of fun.
Has anybody thought about the public liability risk of a 6 ft high jenga. What happens when the blocks collapse on an infant or child during a game ?
That book case would sell to college kinds like crazy for thier dorms. I would build it out of melamine and just edge band it. White, black, greys all would sell. The material would be super cheap.
It would be neat to make a video near Christmas of all the wood games and toys people could make. Or even a video on taking plastic games from big box stores and figuring out a way to make them out of wood.
You are a good teacher and make the projects so simple even for a beginner 👌🏿
Holy smokes! My dad was making those Halloween decorations like 30 years ago!
The wood wall game looks like a vertical “Don’t break the Ice” game.
Would a little wider side pieces with a slot cut in the backside to hold a 1/8 hardboard help to lay the game down flat to stack the wood pieces? Just lay flat add the pieces, turn upright and remove the back panel. A little mallet out of dowel instead of the poker would be nice too.
I like the idea!
@@MatthewPeechWoodworking Matthew, your channel needs an intro with a version of Megadeth’s “Peace Sells” only with the lyrics “Peach Sells but Inspires”.
I was on the fence for a little while about going in the making and selling direction, but through this channel, that has changed to certainty! Thanks for the inspiration and ideas 👌... also the confidence too by making things that look so complicated, so simple!
I just had an Idea with that cookbook holder. Instead of glueing in one long inlay piece, have smaller pieces cut with numbers and month names either painted, burnt, or caved into them. Insert magnets in the back of each of the date tiles with the corresponding polarity magnet in the base, with the spare dates stacked in the tray at the bottom. Attach some decorative hooks to the front and sell it as a manual calendar and key holder.
What do you all think?
Nice!
Thats a great idea. But making month and number tiles will be labor intensive unless you have a cnc or laser, or buy them yourself premade.
We have a small deskstyle one, the numbers are square like dice, and the months are longer sticks (4 labels per stick).
Personally that's over thinking a simple design that's worked for hundreds of years. Great enthusiasm though. My reasons for this are 1, the tray is what holds the cookbook so the dates would hinder that. 2, the cookbook in the holder would hide everything you mentioned. Most people hold counter space to a premium also, which means cookbook holders don't stay out on display without a cookbook in them. The amount you'd have to ask for such a complex design won't be returned in what you will be able to ask for it. And yes places like PB are asking $100+ but they also have 100k sets of eyes on their products daily so even if they sell 1 of them a day, they can stock them.
A lot of options that you could do with it. Give it a try and see how it goes!
For those candle holders when doing the faces, I’d make some precut stiff foam shapes vs stencilling. Dab the foam in the paint, blip blap bloop… done! Faces painted in 3 seconds instead of 5 minutes of stencilling and painting.
The brick wall block game is great. My kids have a plastic humpty dumpty version that could be imitated, but I had an idea for a wedding rental! Little bride and groom sat on the top, and the one to make the newlyweds fall loses. Also... Fightclub! 🤫
Thank you!! You always inspire me to try new projects. 😊
You can reuse the same block for the giant jenga than the wall, but adding to the jenga set some block 1/2 the lenght. I made a giant jenga...I could not wait to be done routing the edge and the sanding !!! then the finishing...56 blocks...112 ends to finish....a lot of sanding/finishing. I will add some 1/2 block to my set to be able to use as a jenga or wall.
How much does the project run you for the 56 blocks?
I was just about to break down some hardwood pallets. I love the ideas!!
Nice! Perfect timing.
I even thought about the bookshelf twisty thing out of pallets
Such great ideas. I saw that shelf while scrolling through instagram and thought it was really neat; glad I’m not the only one. 😊
Another great one Matt. Thanks for your suggestions.
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Very cool products to build love the look of those coasters and the storage/ book shelf
You ALWAYS make my Sunday Brother!! You are one of the best on CZcams!!
I really like your channel. You have given me the push I needed. 👍
I love these videos. It opens my mind to building different things. They way you describe them also gives me the “yes, I can build that” confidence. I’m a novice or whatever comes before that lol
Love the channel btw the shelf that you show here is cool. I like the small sample size as a candle holder
I can’t stop drooling over that Bridge City Tools display you have back there
I really appreciate your encouragement and ideas! I have been rather weakin my legs and cant stand for long enough to get the everyday chorws done. Still trying to find a dry spot for my shop, everything leaks! Thanks again, Matthew! Guess I'll have to work under a tarp! Lol! Peace!
His name is Robert Paulson. Great stuff, many of my holiday gift ideas come from your channel. Thanks for the inspiration to me and many others!
Just built the cookbook stands out of Eastern Cedar with the holder and stand painted Carbon Gray. It looks fantastic!
MAN....I LOVE these types of vids! I get so inspired. Thank you for doing this!
Great stuff!!! Thank you.
I love watching your video. They are always inspirational.
Thank you so much!
I always look forward to your Sunday uploads and now you have a Discord channel, life is good!
Every time I watch one of your videos, my mind goes... 🤯 Keep up the amazing work!
I'm a recent subscribers and i just love your videos. Always positive, encouraging and interesting. Keep up the great work.
As always, great video with great ideas. I so look forward to each of your videos. Many thanks from a somewhat new woodworker. 😊
Great video Matt. When I need inspiration I just watch your channel. 👍👍
Excellent ideas, as always Matthew! I am gonna do this one of these days, soon, and your 'smalls' series will be my inspiration.
One thing on the twisted-looking shelf I can see that you didn't cover was how they offset the curved cuts, by about the width of a shelf each (one 'fat' end going up, the other going down). For saving wood, cut off that length from each 'fat' end, and just use the offcuts for shelves.
Cool stuff!!
If you cut a small area out of the ledge it would double for tablets as well. Also with the stacking wall game you could drill holes in the tops of the side to store the ‘pens’
I was thinking about a groove in the front of the bottom ledge, kinda like where you would put the chalk on an old-fashioned chalkboard. Your way is much simpler, and would add to the aesthetics.
Thank you!! Knowledge is powe, great ideas!
I look forward to each video you post. You keep this old man entertained.
Thanks Matthew. Some really cool ideas there. Appreciate you.
Thanks for doing such a great job sharing your knowledge with other woodworkers. Your ideas for learning and making money makes you a true leader in woodworking. I wish to thank you for your efforts and not turning these efforts into a salesperson who has forgotten they started out to share skills and now sell everything they get put into there hands. Yes, if you have things to recommend a product that makes things easier or helps you save money. This last project you encourage listeners to keep going as you have with your prototype. Again Thanks !
Really enjoying your videos, keep them coming. Keeping your family involved in creating and inspiring your audience is a great way to enjoy your craft. Thanks for keeping us motivated!
Good stuff, Matthew~! Love the way you pull these easy makes from the "high fallutin" stores. The block wall game looks like a vertical version of a game I grew up with called "Don't Break The Ice".
...and Fight Club is definitely the reference~!
Great video and amazing ideas thanks for sharing
I so look forward to these because of the creativity, the encouragement, and the excitement shared in each video. Even if I am not going to make some items, I still get ideas and learn things! Keep it up…. Please!
I enjoy this series so much, i need to act on some of these.
Thanks for the support!
Wow!! what an amazing outro!! thank you for the kind words of encouragement...great video, i am inspired!!🔨
Don't talk about Fight Club!! Love your teaching and ideas!!
Great video Mathew sir
I think you might have just got me wanting to get away from my laser and back to the miter saw. That shelf was cool and i do miss the smell of sawdust. Thank you for another great video, God bless and have a great day.
I DID IT! I made those candle holders earlier this year! I saw another video you did in this series and went looking on line (like you said). I saw these and I MADE THEM but mine are way cooler! These are only painted on ONE side - I painted mine on all FOUR sides with different designs. Then I made a set for the summer (mermaids and shells) that all my friends love!
I will be selling the sets I made for Halloween at craft shows later this fall! I will let you know how well they sold!
How did things come out?
@@JI-ev9pp I sold several sets of them! One person liked them so much, he gave my name to a friend of his who owns a consignment shop and I gave her a set to sell, too. Thanks for asking!
I really dig this series you do.. really appreciate all your work... And that movie reference is my favorite movie of all time .. Fight Club
Great stuff! Thank you
We can't talk about the movie reference. LOL
Lol 👊🏻
I sure enjoy watching your videos
Dude i love your videos, they make me so inspired to keep at this "hobby" of mine! (Just getting started)
I'm not using my woodworking as a side hustle, but I love these videos. They're a wealth of ideas just for things to use around the house, or to apply to other projects I have in mind.
Dude you are awesome because not only have you great project builds that will sell, but , I am looking towards retirement in a year or so and this will help supplement my savings, pension etc so this is giving me much needed relief and taking the stress out of those thoughts. Thank you !!
My exact plan as well ... much success and enjoyment to you!
I am thankful for you!
Just throwing this spin I did with my texas flag coasters. On the bottom of the stand I bored out a hole, not all the way threw. And placed a bottle opener insert. Man you really made me start thinking outside of the box on a lot of my builds. Thanks for your inspiration my brother
Really enjoy your videos and have bought several of your plans, ’cause they’re just too cool for school. An example is this corner bookshelf with the curved openings. The dimensions of 11 x 62 inches for the three pieces doesn’t look like it’ll work out and still cover the full side of the fatter portion of the cut outs. I suspect that maybe the curved pieces have to start out with a 14 x 62 inch piece of plywood to get the 11 inch facing to cover the corner bottom and opposite corner top dimension. Keep the videos coming I really love ‘em.
Such a great video 👏👏
Love the stacking wall wooden game idea. We have the plastic version from Dollarama. Never thought of taking that idea and making out of wood. It would be easy to save time and cut costs by recycling old Jenga blocks or buying cheap ones at the dollar store, and just building the frame to hold them in place.
Always love your videos!
Gosh, just came across your “CZcams “ channel. Oh my gosh,”I’m hooked..I was able to get lots of “wood pieces of all shapes from a local town that had “tons of wood pieces of many shapes..for $20 bucks. I bought a lot..” I saw “potential “ now I see more!Anyway,I’ve been holding on to these pieces an just knew “they had a purpose”! I’m so happy! Last year I did “just one Christmas bazaar and it was a good turn out for me..” but after watching your CZcams information,I’m going for more. I’m 66years old and I’m not stopping being creative and your channel just “boost me up”. Thank you🤗oh an I’m a Grandmother of nine grandchildren’s and have 4 inspiring talented sons and inspiring daughter in laws! Love your inspiration 🤗Thank you 🤗
Love the positivity in your vids, and enjoyed meeting you at WBC. One thing I will say about the Giant Jenga is that I was asked to build a set for someone, with a rolling case. While the material is not expensive at all and it is an easy build, I found that I needed to asked over $100. Actually a good bit more. The reason was it took a long time as there is a ton of sanding. I did run my 2x4's through my planer but I still had to sand all 6 sides of each block as well as chamfer all 12 edges of each block. Maybe I didn't think a good way to do it so for me I actually decided unless for a good friend I was retiring from the giant jenga market.
I'm not a beginner, but I'm not highly skilled. I love that you put these videos out because it makes me believe that I make these things. Thanks Peech!
You are so welcome!
I'm saying the same thing to myself.
I had an idea for the Jenga type game. Put it on a lazy Susan so you can have 3+ players at the dining table, turning it to each player.
Great ideas.
Thank you.
I'm laying here recovering from surgery wishing I would hurry my recovery so I can try a couple of these nifty ideas! Thanks!!!
I'm a contractor and I seldom watch videos for beginners but I'm not a woodworker by trade and I really enjoy your videos bro and you seem very humble and down to earth. I like it. Keep doing what you're doing
Great ideas Mathew once again!! Thank you much...and ya ref was for fight club!
Bingo!
i like your split drawer behind you very cool
There was a game in the 90s called knockout with plastic blocks and a toy jackhammer. Pretty sure that’s what the wall game is.
Cool builds Matthew something to think about
Thank you you come up with great ideas 💡
Love this series. I have several of your plans and have made some money too. Starting to change things up and getting great responses. Thank you for this Matt.
Great to hear!
Thanks for that pep talk at then end! I am my worst enemy when it comes to making things to sell. I love this series, but I get angry when I see how the Big Box stores are ripping people off on this stuff. Thanks for what you do, and can't wait for the next episode!
Very cool ideas!
On the book shelf, you're definitely right on how they did the curves, but if you want the exact look they made, I think you need to slide one of the boards up a bit. (As if you pivot theirs to try and put together it looks like you'd have to slide one down to make them meet.)
Hopefully that all made sense
Good info.
6x6 jenga would be awesome,.. because now you add the risk of personal injury to the game.
More excellent content Matthew!!! I have a love/hate relationship with these videos.
I love the content but I hate getting further behind in my project builds.😊 Your projects are always "must build". JimE
Thanks for all the support Jim!
Agreed! lol!
I also have a cricut. Dang! I really need to get making and get this side hustle going!
Yes!
Great video.
You are brilliant luv ❤
Thanks so much for the love! Your awesome!
The movie reference was Fight Club. I like that book shelf, I'm thing about something like this in my bathroom.
Great ideas and nice fight club reference!
you are my hero man!!!
Thanks
Very cool.
👍👍👍.Thank you
