Another hvacr videos to help show hvac troubleshooting. If you are considering joining the hvac trade I highly suggest getting hvac training from a trade school. Online hvac training videos only get you so far. From experience hvac school is the way to go. No matter what you call it HVAC, HVACR, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Chillers, Low Temp, High Temp, Mechanical, ect, we are all blue collar in this hvac life.

Excellent. Helped me to understand 30GX175 at my workplace. This is rather advance explanation which requires some pre-requisite in refrigerant cycle to understand better.
nevetheless, there isn't many videos like this which describes real chiller components. Mostly just talk about refrigerant cycle. Thank you once again. I benefited a lot.

    Great Video
@9:20 Carrier removed the check valve (on later models)that was in the oil filter cavity after they found out that oil pressures where wrong. If you replace the oil filter they advise removing "Gutting" the check valve. I have never had good fortune for a Carrier Screw to hold back pressure to change an oil filter. I closed Suction valve, oil line valve, and removed oil solenoid coil, they still bleed refrigerant. I do complete refrigerant recovery to service these.

I have 2 neglected 30HXC process chillers at a large mill in WA that I have inherited I’ve gotten after hour calls at 2 am a couple months ago.
Been in the trade for a while now I just haven’t put my hands on chillers
    Trial by fire
Any information helps me and I thank you again.

Great video mate, like it. I did the GX/HX course in UK when they first came out with the open economizers. The economizers were described as "capacity increasers" not "efficiency increasers". Could be different with your plate heat exchanger type though. Cheers.

Just wanted to let you know that your description of the unloader operation is not quite correct. These compressors have no slide valve, and are not full variable capacity like the later Carlyle 06T, and similar Trane and York screws. The two unloaders are similar in action to the suction unloaders on a recip compressor, they are only on/off poppet valves that load the compressor from nominally 45% capacity with both off, to nominally 66% and 100%.
But, great video, keep it up. I wish I'd had this channel to watch back when I was starting out.

The economizer is another name for hot gas by pass. Just another name. It does have multiple purposes as in cooling motor with cool suction gas along with sun cooling liquid going to exv. 26:52 Carrier is trying to maintain a 200 degree motor.

Looking for the ball valve at compressor when needing to change out external oil filter. Also how would I replace the oil switch located on the bottom of the separator. Should I reclaim all the gas for the circuit or hole system?

As refrigerant circuits are different and water enters from one side and exits at the other side, how I should check the evaporator approach as we have only one chilled water outlet temperature sensor at the outlet of evaporator, so the circuit (if in operation) nearest to the chilled water outlet should be considered for Evaporator approach calculation right?

They dont run in reverse. The draft from the other motors will make them spin backwards but their not running with power to them in that state.
