Interesting to see you guys open up both ends of the condenser barrel. We only open up one end of the barrel and punch the tubes. I never worked on a centrifugal chiller with hinges on the endplates. We always had to build up a portable A-frame or T-frame rig assembly and then attach a chainfall to it to support the endplate as we broke lose the bolts and then lowered it to the floor. The A-frames are for the really heavy weight.
Hinges are a factory only option and are awesome when specc'd. Opening the ends on a 3000 ton YST is easy as pie.... brushing the tubes is another story... for a junior tech.
Nice video. Couple items noted. The Goodway machine is supposed to be laying down when in use. The label on the machine says that. Your supposed to set the cable stop so the brush only comes out half way on the opposite end. Also, why not brush tubes from opposite end from marine water box? It’s much easier.

It's really useful, thank you a lot

Good job, i remember doing same job in Saudi Arabia on our York OM TITAN (5090 TR) chiller it had around 4400 tubes in condenser. i am missing my job badly.
czcams.com/video/Pzs0helx1ky/video.html
From what I remember, the largest of the OM’s had 7000 tubes. Those OM heat exchangers were huge.
This is new I did that with no hinge we used chain hoist and we made pins to align it up
Have a pair of 2000 ton Yorks in My plant . I actually miss the old bromide and ammonia absorbers ! ( Yep , lol I've been around that long ).
Nice work 👍

Nice video showing this process. When the water treatment program is well managed, and the engineers put in a good quality filter the tubes won't need to be punched for many years. This is a band aid solution to poor water quality in the loop. More problems are seen on the condenser side but on older loops the evaporator side can also get pretty dirty from corrosion in the pipes.
filter? You talking about the pump strainers?
@@ryanmalin not pump strainers. Those are like 1/8" and don't remove small deposit-forming particulates. I'm talking about side stream filters which continually filter a small portion of the recirculating water. Sand filters work best but you need to keep up with the PM.
Plus a money maker
I always go left to right and use another brush to mark my stopping point and also for the row I'm working on.
czcams.com/video/PZs0HElX1KY/video.html
If we have that cleaning tool. Here we do that job with a steel rope with brush on top. Also what a clean machine room.

Boi, this looks almost identical to my plant! I guess most plants are similar, but at my building we use the exact same York type chillers X3..
buen trabajo y video

Hello sir thank you for the video. Have you ever worked on a chiller with marine water boxes? Curious on your input on those vs. these simple hinged covers. Your video is very insightful to me as an engineer as we don't get to see the maintenance aspect of these machines very often. I want to keep y'all happy and provide good factory options and plenty of clearance. Cheers.
Installing anodes would be a good idea.
Nice Chiller room Ang pumps.

Those goodway tube punching machines are supposed to run flat not sitting up like that. Ive spoke with the manufacture about it. I have 6 1000 ton chillers at my building in chicago and recently had to purchase a new goodway so we wanted to put as little wear on it as possible. From my understanding its harder on the clutch due to the angle of the rod when its upright.
TOP!!
Great video keep them coming 🫡
It was good. I learn from it

Muito bom ! 👏👏
czcams.com/video/PZs0HElX1KY/video.html
I put a new brush every 10 tubes or so . With my enhanced tubes they get wrecked fast. It also helps me keep track of where I am. Lol
Fair job, but it takes more than brushing tubes to get them clean and up to factory specs. Testing type of scale built up and circulating proper chemicals to soften scale must be performed before punching tubes. There are many types of scale depending on water source. Proper Cooling Tower treatment will prevent most problems. Regards YORKPR.
Watching chiller maintenance videos while waiting for a prerequisite position to open up. Sure is hard to get in for a field claiming to be in such a demand.
czcams.com/video/PZs0HElX1KY/video.html
Punch the tubes from the other end so you don’t have to deal with the water box.
that makes too much sense
LoL…after he did the top, he sees it’s much easier from the other end.
czcams.com/video/PZs0HElX1KY/video.html

thanks l like this vedo very mach
Goodway does make what's called a chiller Bib to set in front and collect all of the water coming out of the tubes and funnels it to the floor drain, they are worth it.
Nice info … how long it take usualy to clean the condenser?
👍👍👍we make the condenser, chiller tube cleaning brushes
I usually put a brush at the end of the row I'm working on just in case I lose my place. Our condenser has about 700 tubes so its a lot easier to skip a row and have the eddy current guy get pissed that he can't fit his probe through a dirty tube.
czcams.com/video/PZs0HElX1KY/video.html
Did you lockout the inlet and outlet valves and electrical before breaching the system?
GOOD
So need one of those cleaners (wire brush, no water) for steam boilers, I know one boat that would love it for that.
This machine is a life saver🤣 Still use the wire brushes by hand and it's really not so fun🤢 Thanks for watching & commenting. Stay safe out there & stay tuned for new videos every week!🔧

Great job congratulations for it!, It'll be good as well, if you could tell us the name ,brand and model of the tool/machine to pull and push the brushes inside the tubes.

czcams.com/video/Pzs0helx1ky/video.html
how often do you recommend doing condensate and evaporator pm ?
Always hated punching tubes 😱
guys the way that you are removing the bolts, its easy to damage the threads on the H.E. Also, if you are going to reuse the bolts, do you inspect them or not? I believe its essential to check them prior reinstate them.
czcams.com/video/PZs0HElX1KY/video.html
Hi guys too much long your snake wire on the other end, it will bended due to strong force of the cleaning machine. It is better to adjusted the wire and the brush just little bit passes thru the condenser. Awesome job.
czcams.com/video/Pzs0helx1ky/video.html
Boa tarde!
Gostaria de saber o nome desse equipamento que vocês estao usando para varetar o condensador
4:11 that is an amazing fucking tool holy shit we are centuries behind over here
How do you get all that water out safely?
Cleaning a chiller might seem nasty to some, but HVACR for life! 😏
👍👍👍
Thank you brother! Appreicate the feedback🙂 Have a great work week!
This way seems way harder than the way I’ve done previously. Why not punch tubes from side without water box first and removing hinged side once done punching tubes and cleaning trash. Also, while brushing tubes, why not add plastic and drain pan to lower the amount of mess a little bit.
czcams.com/video/PZs0HElX1KY/video.html

How often do you PM the unit ?
What was the delta-T on the water?
Nice job,
How long it takes you to perform condenser coil cleaning and how many techs?
Thank you! Time really depends on the size of the condenser as a larger one would have more tubes to punch. I'd say the coil cleaning alone would be a 2 man job, 2 days as far as no rushing and proper cleaning for this sized unit. If you enjoyed this video, subscribe as I post new videos every week! So no refrigerant has to be removed to open up the ends.
Hi Jumper man Tech, what is the range of cost for a mechanical cleaning like you showed here? Don't need the exact price but just as a reference...

how many hours for this? 24?

One wich parameters you will regonized if the tube are dirty what is the delta t from water to the refrigerant ??
Look at your approach temps. If they go up, your tubes are dirty, and you won't get good heat transfer.
Your video is helpful but make one good another shell and tube heat exchanger maintenance video .

Cost. That's why. It's the same in AHUs. Often, you can tell the high end AHUs and cheap ones by the access doors. High end equipment will have nice hinged latching doors and crap will have screw on panels.
@@juanzingarello4005 your talkin about am air handler being crap and good. Its a box with filters in it.
@@greatsoutherntrendkill79 Its not just filters that need access. The entire unit needs periodic inspection and servicing at some point. A high end AHU like AAON RN series RTU is built with maintenance in mind. Direct drive fans, single piece dampers, all hinged doors, etc. but a generic Trane Voyager will have crappy screw on panels where screws get lost all the time.
Hello. Quick question. I am working at a new facility and wanted to know when you are replacing the gasket for the end cap do you apply a joint sealing compound with the gasket or is it not necessary?
