    I do a book bingo! I write down a bunch of books on my owned physical TBR in a bingo board. There's no rewards like"go buy a new book" once I get a bingo, but playing "beat the blacklist blackout book bingo" just is so fun to me, and filling in the squares makes me feel amazing, getting to older books on my shelves. You could also use prompts instead of titles or give yourself rewards for each bingo instead. But it's very easy to tailor it to what you want it to be.

    This is the first video of yours I have stumbled upon, and let me just say that this is gorgeous while also being so simplistic and achievable for someone like me who is not creatively gifted with art! I definitely will be subscribing and borrowing some of these ideas! Instead of a "Read 30 minutes every day", I just have a "Reading Every Day" chart because since I'm a nurse working 12+ hour shifts 3-5 days a week, sometimes I only have 10 minutes to read while I'm drying my hair after a shower, but I do want to know that I read that day. So far I've read almost every day of 2023 except my wedding day and a few other days here and there. I adore all your bar graphs, though, so I definitely will need to incorporate those in my own journal somehow.

      Thank you so much, Hannah! I'm so glad you found it helpful ☺️ Congratulations on your wedding! And also on achieving your goal so well so far this year! I'm glad to have you here 💕

    Thanks for walking us through your method. Using the planner is a good way to track your reading, and allow no shame white space. I think if one is a sticker fan, they could use the unused days in the planner to stick a sticker or print&paste image over the unused date and maybe doodle or watercolor a picture between the book entries which may or may not be related to the book, (sometimes you just need to step away from the book for a little artsy fartsy time), or jot a quick thought about the book (like "--omg, i can't believe she said that!" (Not so much a full mid book critical analysis of the book which would distract from the book).
    This is my 2nd year journaling and its not going as well as last year because my grandiose ideas for journaling while reading or even reflecting in between books is unsustainable (even as much as i like to think my opinion about every book even matters). I'm currently 3 books behind in my journal. Last year, my more sustainable method was just to have a thin full size field note book with 48 pages, i had a page for each month where I would just list my books along with the prompts the book fulfilled. The remaining pages were reading prompts/lists, such as my A2Z list, reading around the states, reading around the world, compass read (which didnt go well because its hard to find a book with a cardinal direction in the title, i may save it by adding a title of any book set north, south, east, west, ne, nw, se, sw, etc. Of my home.
    I find the book lists helpful to reflect on what I've read and recommend books to others.
    Finding sustainable journaling to manage expectations is key. Its worth adding a value proposition to the front of your journal to state what the journaling objectives are and what it is not and an estimated frequency you expect to commit to journaling. I dont collect stats, other than having a # of books I want to read each month.
    I find just a pencil works best for me, so i can erase mistakes. Last year i had a couple of prompt pages i had planned to print, color, and paste in images that fit the prompt and linked the book (a flower image for a book title with that flower pasted to my flower garden book prompt page), but even that I found unsustainable.

    This is so cool! I don’t keep a cute book journal, but I’m tempted to keep track of my hauled books (loved the idea of adding a box to check when you actually read them!). Thanks for the inspo!

      I’m glad you found some inspiration!! I hope keeping track of that stat will help me to only buy books I actually think I’ll get to soon 😅

    CZcams notifications messing up yet again, so I'm late! 😞
    Your journals look very fancy! I get distracted WAY too easily, so unsure if I can sit still that long to make a pretty journal like that lol. I love the spreads, especially the ones with the cute foxies haha 🙂
    What if, like me, you don't own a printer to print out all those images? Ink is horrendously expensive, so for me it's stickers, or (very badly!) drawing images out myself, or old magazines I can scrounge up.

    • @ExLibrisKari
      @ExLibrisKari  Před rokem +1

      It is definitely a time commitment but it's one of those hobbies I like catching up on on the weekends ☺️ Ink is for sure a negative point to using print outs, but like you, I also love using stickers! I had to cut the footage of all my stickers because it was way too long haha. And I love your idea of cutting out stuff from magazines, that's a great idea! Also like I said in the video, I think a good use of washi tape can spice up your spreads and for a super reasonable price!

    Literally all of your reading journals are so beautiful! I love that you theme all your review pages to match the books. They look so nice! I just subscribed because I can't wait to see the updates and the flip through! (also, I'm gonna need a bookshelf tour. That little sneak peak in your intro was not enough. All those matching editions? Stunning. I would love to see the whole thing!)

    I absolutely love your journal. I've been watching a lot of journals videos as I read a lot and want a better way to keep track. Yours have all the spreads I wanted to incorporate. 💕 Love it!! I do have a question though. What are the books hauled. I got confused when you were explaining it. Thanks so much for sharing 😍❤️💙💜🥰

    • @ExLibrisKari
      @ExLibrisKari  Před rokem

      I’m so glad the video was helpful for you! 💖 For the books hauled spread, I just keep track of what books I buy and the date that I buy them! Then once I read one, I make a mark beside it so that I will be able to easily see how many of my new books I’m actually reading 😊 hope that made sense!

    Mildliners has an L in it. I used to call them midliners too. I think because it seems to compare to fineliners.

    • @ExLibrisKari
      @ExLibrisKari  Před rokem

      Haha I did notice I say that wrong in editing and made the correction on the screen the first time I say “mid” instead of “mild”. I have heard many people call them midliners though so we aren’t the only ones to have made the mistake!

    8:05 I have a question... how did you make that little mini flip-thru book for that spread? Did you just cut the actual pages down (like whittled it lol) or did you make the little booklet thing separately and then glue it in? hope that makes sense ☺
