    I just bought a bullet journal and I intend to set it up during the holidays. Right now I'm gathering inspiration and ideas from different people, but I'm really scared because I'm a bit of a perfectionist. And not at all artistic

    • @bookbrowsingblog
      @bookbrowsingblog  Před 3 lety +21

      I absolutely understand that fear! I am also not very artistic, hence why I stick to straight lines and simple spreads! My biggest advice would be to sketch out your plans elsewheer first if youre nervous, then by the time youre drawing in the journal you've got a good idea of what you're going to do!!

    This looks like a fun and cool way to track the books you read! Right now, I'm doing a mindmap for each book I read, just to have my thoughts on a page. It's been fun looking through all these maps, and seeing what I've read in the last few months (I've only started it in October or so). But something like a reading journal might be a good idea, for more information on my own reading habits, thanks for making this video and sharing the process of making one!

    I've done my first reading journal for next year the other day. It's not fancy. Nothing drawn and it's in a lined notebook but I wanna track preorders, books I get sent (this'll mostly be e-arcs but it counts), amy book tours or readalongs I'm on, bought books, library books borrowed then just an end of month check in. I've also got spreads listing the books I need to review over the year with the dates the books are published so I know to get to them.

      I use excel to create my reading list. First select the 100 books you want to read (put in them in any order you wish - even by the ISBN). Then use the "random function" to determine which order you read them. For fun I clicked the random function a 100 times to really mix the list up. Another method is pick 31 books for January, on Day 1 start book 1, on day 2 start book 2 and so on. So by Jan 31st you have started 31 books, and if you finish a book before the month ends add a new book. That way you always have 31 on the go.

    I'm so torn if I want to start a reading journal as well! I love tracking stuff and journaling, but I don't know if I'd keep up with it. So if I go ahead, I'll totally mimick your minimalistic style to make it more maintainable :)
    Where do you track your pages read every day? Goodreads or somewhere else? :)

      I 100% understand that, when I started I thought I would stop so fast (as I have done with many types of journalling before), but keeping it simple made all the difference! I can sit watching youtube/tv once a month and be done with it!!
      Yes I track it on goodreads every night before I sleep, and then I can always check back what pages I read when if I am behind on updating my journal!

      Take it slow when writing things, don't feel like you need to write at normal speed, slow it down and that may help! Other than that it is just practise!

    Great video. I feel like you don't need to keep apologising after the initial one about the filming frames. It's break the flow of your information delivery

    Have you heard of good reads app I find it way easier than that, and also I prefer audiobook so I go through them about 2 to 3 times faster

      I actually have a previous video on my channel talking about how I track my reading, and explain that I use Goodreads, a spreadsheet, and a journal! It's just what works for me! That's great that audiobooks work for you!

    this is soooo pretty!! I love bullet journaling and am now seriously considering starting a much more aesthetic reading journal lol. I currently just write them down in a notebook with a mini review

    • @bookbrowsingblog
      @bookbrowsingblog  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you so much!! Aesthetic reading journals are definitely a lot of fun, but keeping track is really the aim! So if just writing a small review in a notebook works for you then that is great!!
