  • This is the one hundred and nineteenth of the remastered Lorcan Film Unit Videos. There is a total of 10 hours worth of film that we hope to publish over time. Unfortunately Leslie Crowe who was the Director and creator of much of this content is no longer with us. So we are hoping to get your help to figure out the places and the names of the people he captured.
If you turn on the Closed Captions "CC" on the video to see what we know about the footage so far.
If you can help us with any additional information please contact us at lorcanfilmunit@gmail.com

The SE on the postbox is Saorstat Eireann, the Irish Free State from 1922 to 1937. They used to manufacture them in Wexford

Although the 1970 film Ryan's Daughter is showing in the Ambassador the shots of O'Connell St are much later than '70 as the McDonald's on Upr O'C Street is visible @ 1:13, and that opened in January 1979.

Possibly different sections of film, or perhaps the cinema re-showed the movie as it was a classic.
