ACTUALLY the HARDEST START in KENSHI! (The Sims + Open World + Combat = Kenshi) s2e1

- We start FRESH in the WORST possible starting conditions available in Kenshi...You thought starting in the desert with 1 arm was hard? Not even! What is Kenshi you ask? Kenshi is a game that is essentially The Sims if it had intense combat and a GIGANTIC open world! Kenshi recently got its official release after...12 YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT!
Good: Great sandbox game
Bad: NO GROUP THAT SAY *I WILL DRINK FROM YOUR SKULL*

Was just about to say this.
It´s almost harvesting season!
We can do this the easy way, or the hard way
@@aydenkirk3089 I'm still get what I want
The slave start is arguably the easiest since you have a starter area where you can't die, get free healing, and get free training in lock picking, stealth, theivery.
Martial arts too
I find cannibal run much harder than slave run.
@@norXmal I tried it the other day. You just drop the armor and run away. Easy :)
I've intentionally sold my character into slavery on the rock bottom start for this reason.
This would immediately turn much harder if the picklock (...is it called like that?) or the working tools need to be acquired first.
Tbh I didn’t mind the so called “bad quality” videos, but kudos to you for keeping quality content as your priority, instead of quantity. Nonetheless, I’m glad that this continues to be a series! Keep it up, bro! :)
Ps: you’ve made me really want to buy the game for myself. I’m gonna wait until the Steam Lunar sale to see if the price goes down tho.
It is worth the price. It had been a long a time since a game could grab me like that for hours and hours.
Tatatatatre yeah it definitely caught my eye. I recently just got off of a 300 hour mount and blade addiction (hence why I’m at this channel), so I desperately need something to fill the void haha xD
@@Lrripper Yea. Probably another game that will kill my student life.
pirate the game its that easy really whats better saving money for food and emergency or buying a game xD
khaled99069 fair point, but I can never get my pirated games to work when I try. I guess I’m just not really a computer guy or whatever... and it’s an indie developer, so I’d kinda feel bad if I didn’t pay lol. I know, I’m weird. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Pro tip:
Low level martial artits=weak
High level martial artists= The child of one punch man and shaggy

50+ martial artits Boss: "omae wa mo shindeiru"
NANIII????
* LIMBS START RAINING EVERYWHERE
High level martial artist when out numbered = not much better than a starting schmuck because of the dodge animation loop it gets into. Doesn't matter if it can do 300 damage per hit if it only dodges.
@@skavies2351 all you have to do is back him up a bit then he will hit someone
@@alexdao222 Yes, so it's ok (marginally) as a solo character, but in a group, do you want to be pausing the fights constantly to back up every martial artist so they don't get stuck? Or even with 1 martial artist, if it's not the character for the guy doing the video, he will have to spend a lot of time on that martial artist to keep him being productive. I've done the solo martial artist thing and even with stats and skills over 80, he murders large groups of starving bandits way the hell faster with the worst weapons (prototype/rusted junk quality) in the game and under 10 skill with them than he does with his 300 damage martial arts strikes because of that annoying dodge loop. So no, martial arts in Kenshi just sucks ass.
@@skavies2351 did you know that games are subjective? Lol

I got excited when I heard "this is a beak... thing?"
Love the 25 min ep btw
I actually really like you sharing your thoughts on the save reverting. We all do it. It's part of learning the game. When you share it, we can truly learn it with you.
I'm loving the longer episodes! Keep it up man
I suggest you to install a mod that increases your recruitment limit to 256. It makes the game a lot more fun.
It's a hell to micro manage, espically since kenshi dosn't really have a good inventory managment system
@@tomchch It is hard to micromanage, but if you spend a lot of time assigning jobs it makes the game a lot more efficient. You can also make different tabs like
"Warriors" "Workers" "Turret" "Guards" and so most things would already be automated and you only have to control 1 group (Warriors)
@@tomchch you can assign A.I. job duties its not that difficult
just makes the game into easy mode from my own experiences, to each their own i guess tho
I love that mod because I can make giant army battles and record them
>makes a video where the idea is to start off in the most difficult conditions

Honestly, the fact that you are genuinely concerned with the quality of your videos, so much that you'd even make a new set because you felt they weren't meeting a standard, is just impressive. So much work and time must go into these series, especially the M&B ones. I'm really glad to have found this channel, and I hope to see even more awesome stuff.
Last series wasn't bad, but I'm happy you're getting more involved in the quality of your videos.
Keep up the good work dude!
Beak things, the easiest and hardest foe in the whole game.
Early game they are very weak against cheese and late game they are extremely easy to block, but when not managed, oh GOD they are nasty.
Edit: Also, you got somewhat lucky in the cannibal territory, that place can be tricky, a leg injury could turn your quick trip into cannibal lands into a 2 hours quest to escape being eaten, it happened to me.
"It's got a bar it might not be a hostile village at all" solid logic
I know this is two years old but as a +3000 hour kenshi player i enjoy watching people starting out
You can make a group of your people walk the speed of the slowest one in the group by switching the thing under the sneak button. it makes them stick together which is safer and easier to manage.
about athletics and ability to run away, hivers are best at it cuz their max speed higher then other races (wariors are bit slower, but still faster then most other races). and max speed is hidden stat but can find it on wiki. hunger rate is also a thing to consider (hivers eat like 2 times less then humans) and another hidden stat is sort of "view range" its 1.25 for princes 0,5 for workers and 1.0 for soldiers. so u can kinda guess who is better at shooting stuff
Are hivers not way better than other pawns in basically every way?

hi there i know this was posted last year . but i recently discovered this game and am addicted .. i started my first game as a cannibal hunter . one of the hardest characters , you spawn in a cannibal base fighting like 300 cannibals my characters Hand and Fall where caught and they ate hands right leg i broke out well hand was recovering and pick locked as many other cages as i could to make distractions , they caught me again and this time the cannibals where about to eat hand and fall a cannibal hunter crew pulled threw and slaughtered all of them in the nick of time . thus began my adventure .. the worlds end was my first town it took me 10 days to get there. as i had to carry hand because he had no leg and sneak all the way not to get caught and i did get caught 3 more times and survived them all .. . loved it .. thanks for playing .. inspires me to play more :)

I need to thank u that u showed me kenshi. I was still trying to find a game that is like kenshi and thank to u I finallly find it. Thank you !
If you want your guys to run together you cna change it in the bottom right under sneak in the menu, you have them on sprint so they always move as fast as they can but you can change it to walk jog and move together
Important note - when you notice a bar or a shop or even a town that's empty it's probably a bug, to fix it you're going to have to import your game, which is fine since it imports your relations/buildings/dead npcs etc. along with it. A minor inconvenience but a good workaround when dumb stuff happens.
the empty town was deserted because of cannibals. it is empty from the start of the game. it has diaries in some of the buildings explaining what happened.
This is the series where my dopamine spikes constantly. You make some similar decisions to how I would approach situations and your focus on kleptomaniac tactics is quite satisfying. Keep up on this game for sure.
I think that the village u looted was from the canibals u saw getting killed, and the guys walking there where the canibal Hunters.
They were Tech Hunters he clicked on them you can see their names
it's called a ghost village and according to the wiki it was a normal village sacked by cannibals. the tech hunters were there randomly, they didn't own anything in there
I wonder if you will ever finish a series to completion
No.
Can you complete this game?
You can't complete this game. But I'd be fun to see him do a solo run or something like a martial artist or a trio/three musketeers. Or even a genocide run.
@@menel1227 You can "complete" it, but you have to set the idea of "completion" yourself, ie destroying the Holy Nation or wiping out all non-humans/vise versa.
Legend has it the rain man will actually finish a series atleast once in his life.
The Bugs Life game was so much fun. I remember the bird boss fight when I was a little kid. Haven't thought about that in a long time. Thanks, brother.
Idk why but I love this series. Please keep it up
Pro Tip: Holding shift can grab and move the entire stack, also works for right click to instantly transfer items between inventories
if you want difficulty change number of nests multiplier to 2, that wont leave you bored roaming the map.
Really liking the new play through, can see you’re more invested in the characters with the bug life homage. Def agree with trying to chill with reverting, I restarted a few play-throughs and no save scumming just feels good with kenshi.
The one armed start gets more difficult if the holy nation catches you with a prosthetic
"Safe decisions" then tries to outrun beak thing
"Okay that was not the play, and we will be reverting" 😂
Watching you play made me reinstall the game after some four years. I just started playing the slave start just before you, and waited until sun down to make my escape. Freed some slaves to act as decoys, allowing my two starting characters to make a get away. Not without a price however, everyone that I freed died and I was chased all the way to flotsam ninja hide out in the forest. From there mined and looted until the slave debuff went away now I'm off to craft an empire. Cheers for the quality content mate, have a good one.
NO! I LOVED THE ORIGINAL SERIES! I WANTED EPISODE 5! Damn.. RIP naked guy trilogy but its okay..
i was waiting for your next video AND BAM 25 MINS LETSGOOOOO
I finished watching it I thought it was a 10 min video. That is how good it is.
I like this start, cause during this run I knocked out a guard swapped clothes put him in a cage and walked out the gate, while the guard ended up being the slave. This game beats you up and at the same time gives you moments like that.
Starting as as slave is one of easiest start. Since you can't die of starvation, you have all time you want to train some vital stats (stealth, lockpicking, thievery, martial art, ...), for this start I freed myself after 10 days easily in disguise. Then I loot a Holy military base and was very comfy for the start of the journey.
You can click on the "passive" option in the bottom right and that will make whatever character you have listed not attack anything unless attacked. It's really good for sneaking and thievery for when you inevitably get caught. Also, there is a town in that light grey area that you can get a free companion in if you can get to it. The trek will be tough.
That empty village is empty by design
"Im gonna aggro the beak thing onto him and hopefully he can out run it" Just started laughing out loud because those things got like 30 mph speed or something
A few (keyboard/ mouse) tips:
- When looting/ trading, instead of left-clicking, holding, and dragging an item to your inventory, you can just do a simple right-click and the items go into your inventory (when you were taking the flesh cleavers from the cannibals)
- Hold down ALT to see stuff on the ground (i.e. when you were near the ruins)
A few gameplay tips:
- Damaged books are worth fuck all, don't risk trying to loot them (like when you were near the ruins)
- Ruins, in general, normally have animals around them that spawn (in this case, the blood spiders; in other cases, robotic spiders) so don't go near them early game
- Don't ever sell food, even if you got the food for free. Your people will always need food and the only ways to get it without spending money or risking your life killing animals is by stealing it, so never sell it because you'll need it later
- Beak things are fucking powerful - they're fast, they're hard to kill, they deal lots of damage, and they often come in packs. Don't try to fight them early game, just avoid them. Spiders as well are fast and deal a bit of damage, but make up for it in numbers. Again, don't fuck w them early game
- Pick your fights. Since you have two characters, if one of them is unconscious, the other one can heal them. Thus, you could send one character in to be absolutely mauled by the bonedog (who won't eat the character after death) or the Holy Nation (I'm not sure if they would send you back to Rebirth though) or even the River Raptors (who, again, won't eat you). You then get your other character to heal the wounded character up, and that wounded character now has a higher toughness, melee attack, melee defence, and katana/ polearm/ whatever weapon stats.
Other tips:
- If you're marketing a video as 'the hardest start in Kenshi' with the slave start at Rebirth, people click on the video because they want to see you overcome that start as a slave and see your people get beaten up, locked up, etc. but survive, and slowly hone their skills until they can escape. As someone mentioned in the comments, the slave start is really good because someone's always going to heal you and you get free training in lockpicking, stealth, and thievery. You also get beaten up a lot so your toughness, as well as your melee attack and defence, goes up as well. So it's best to 'stay' in Rebirth until you could kind of survive out in the real world.
- Likewise, I think a lot of people like Kenshi because of the struggle/ how hard it is mixed with the effort/ work you have to put in to actually increase your characters' skills. However, here, you're doing things that make the game less of a struggle and thus less interesting to watch:
- Don't keep going back to save games when something goes wrong. [I tend to only reload a save if one of my characters' die - here, you could have said that the only time you'll reload a save is if one of the two starting characters die, or that you'll only reload a save if both characters die, so you always have one character to play].
- Don't drop all your things and run all the time, it again makes things less interesting/ feels like a cop-out. My one exception to this would be if you're mining iron/ copper and the people chasing you are gonna capture and eat you (cannibals, fogmen, beak things, skin or blood spiders).
- I mentioned this above, but pick your fights - the only way to get better toughness, better melee attack, better melee defence, better stealth, etc. is by actually doing things. See every enemy as an opportunity to improve your characters' skills. The better your characters skills, the more freedom they have to move around in the world unmolested, and the more money you can make and the more places you can explore.
- Don't orient your game around not being recognised as a slave/ mining for 80 hours. Have your two people keep a low profile/ be in disguise and hire/ buy a few other team members who are not slaves. You can use them to go into towns and trade while keeping your escaped slaves out of town. Then you can still travel around in the world, but if the two people are recognised you have more team members to fight off people.
I know a lot of this is 'what you can do better' but I also wanna appreciate what I like about your videos. I really like how you study all the animals/ peoples speeds, XP, and the damage they can take. You also edit it so it's easier to see what you're talking about and to compare and contrast the animal/ person's speed to one of your own character's speed. I think you're the only person who plays Kenshi to do that, especially in such a succinct and visually appealing way. I also liked how you created your two Hivers after 'A Bug's Life' characters. It never clicked to me that you could make the Hivers look like 'A Bug's Life's' characters.
If you wanted, you could expand this and personalise them a bit more, and play through them - 'The Adventures of Slim and Molt'.
Btw he didn't have those abilities as this was 3 years ago.
I actually don't mind save loads as long as it's not done in excess. I actually enjoy perfect run gameplays and being able to collect everything. Of course that takes awhile and it's boring to watch, that's why i like watching your edited videos, that way i can just enjoy all the successful parts and skip the boring parts :)
In the bottom right there are 3 buttons, if you look to the left of that there is a stick figure, if you select your people (companions) and click the arrow to the right it will put them into a group run where all of the people (when/if set to group run) will take the lowest run speed and will run together.

Kenshi: The game that teaches you to make good life decisions
Your kenshi playthroughs are so chill
being a slave to start is actually kind of good because the guards will heal you after beating the shit out of you so you can just train as long asy ou want in slavery until you get bored then escape

Nice keep up the good work.
I like the New Start and the Videos getting longer :D
When there are no vendors, they sometimes fail to spawn which is a rarity but just importing from the main menu usually fixes those issues.
the ghost village is named ghost village on the map... cannibals got there before the game started. you can find books that give lore in the ghost village.
i didnt mind the bad quality, since your commentary was really good. Great video bud!
Hold Tab to highlight all the items on the floor, it's extremely helpful
Under the sneak button you can choose if you want your guys to run in a group or solo
love the videos you're doing on this game
When you start as a slave it’s considered Hard rather then Very Hard because it’s permission to train up your endurance and sneak since then guards will not let you starve or die. Rebirth is notoriously bad though but normally slave camps will heal you fully and thus let you grind skills
Bro? You're videos are great. Obviously you need to do what you think is best for your channel, but I never thought your videos were "Bad Quality"
yikes i didnt even know a bugs life became an old movie. anyways 25 mins?? love you rain man
It's on vhs ofcourse it's old. Still a great movie though
bottom left screen, above attack there is ^ click that opens where you can see more info with run speed
It took me 9 in-game days to successfully escape. Ended up training stealth high enough to Naruto run. I got my characters to see a whole bunch of other slaves free and used them as a distraction in the middle of the night so I could shut the guards behind the gate. FYI If any other slaves you free make it out they are then recruited to your squad.
This episode was so fun to watch , thank you bus driver !!
If I'm not mistaken, having only one arm limits you to one-handed weapons and cuts your Dex down by 33%, which determines your attack speed. But in all honesty, once you're used to Kenshi's many mechanics, you won't find any predetermined start difficult. Just slightly more time-consuming to get into the mid-game.
The thing about slavery is you can very quick level your toughness, athletics, strength, stealth etc. very easily at diminishing consequences (unless you are way too daring for your own good, you'll always get healed up and get back to default) the more you later on gain the ability to fuck with the guards (i.e. putting THEM in shackles and cages, stripping them naked, just run around in disguise and karate chop whoever because it's the post-post apocalypse meaning half the people who could use a pair of glasses are entrusted with jobs in which face recognition is important).
If you don't rush it you'll end up DOMINATING Rebirth at one point- as well as possibly accrue a bounty on you that makes the Bugmaster blush -and you'll be able to enter and exit at your own leisure, probably what makes it considered easier than rock bottom as a start because then those accrued skills will lower the overall difficulty of the outside world. If you really want something unfarily hard start out as hiver in the middle of the cannibal plains: either you aren't captured critically injured and have your escape aided by beak things or you just end up having to reload.
Protip: if you're looting a ton of people and stealing their incomplete first aid kits, you can right click one you've already stole and it should combine with the one inside their inventory, saving you space
At 16:30. If you wanted to store items you could have used the bodies you were carrying as extra storage space. Minor tip.
worlds end would not have attacked you for being a slave btw. When i escape from rebirth i usually go to the lone shack then worlds end and crank up my stealth and thieving, get geared, then head down to the cannibals with 4 or 5 guys to build up combat stats
oh and you can go over to flotsam village west of worlds end, ally with the ninja's, and train up your combat on their dummies, plus have an ally while exploring that will help you if they see you in combat. The holy nation will hate you, but they already hate you(for being an ex slave and being a hiver), so you dont lose anything.
No one lives in the village as an in the name ghost Village. Lore books also explain that
Remember that the game tracks NPCs all over the map even when you aren’t there. They eat, they sleep, they fight, and they die without you being there. That town probably got hit by cannibals.
We are going to head northwest for a town.
THE GANG DISCOVERS DEADCAT
Lmao
There is a fishing village east of that Ghost Village. You can sell your stuff instead of going to End of the World.
Tip: Items u drop will despawn after u leave an area.
If you click the arrow on the left side of the menu above attack, you'll get a more detailed stat explanation that will show you the run speed of your characters/characters you click on. Definitely could have helped in the beak thing situation!
I chose this start for my first attempt at a long playthrough because of all the ez stats with no risk of dying in the beginning, as the very beginning can be quuuite tedious to get through tbh. Worked all to well too, got out with 9 toughnes 20 lockpicking and 40 sneak on both, also an athletic that let me run at 18mph I believe, not sure
Try to join the Shinobi theifs guild, you neeed 10k but their outpost in selected towns have training dummies, lockpick trainings, assasin trainings and more
PLEASE I NEED MORE OF THIS GAME
Tip: Zoom with the mouse wheel on map to check smaller locations like ruins, village...
Actually the slave start is the best and easy because you can lvl up at high lvl in stealth, lockpick, steal, some End and Str, and dont need food or money. My favorite start and the desert start
Please do a farmer only playthrough as its almost harvesting season.

The hardest start is actually the Cannibal Hunter start. It is brutal.

Holy shit I'm liking this game more than Mount & Blade.. I highly recommend you guys try this out!!!
i have only seen a minute into this video but i have just played the rock bottom start and have had a way worse time then you made it out to be. got caught stealing. went to jail. became a slave. fought long and hard to escape. got out with 3 people. after getting all my hunger bar back got captured again. 1 person made it out of slavery but got caught assisting an escape and became a slave again. we get separated cause the slaver's didn't want one of my people. spend a while trying to get out again. rescue more people this time. lost the one that got separated cause of a failed escape attempt. (the first time i escaped i managed to sneak building a house because i took their clothes as a disguise. both time's i hid in that house my "outpost" !
I'm glad I'm not the only one who played that game.
slave start is hard if you have damage modifiers increased above 1x, also if you click the up arrow in the bottom right info gives you some important info you may want visible
You can press alt key and see all the items on the ground it helps a great deal when looting ruins
You can also drop backpacks in combat if you intend to win the fight
you gotta bug with a citizen population. My advice is too loot as much as possible, caravan traders still spawn and trade. If you done you gotta import the your save into anew a game so npc could respawn. Any loot on the ground will be gone if you import the game.
This reminds me of like an open world dungeon siege, but focused on survival instead of plots.
