    This is incredible microphone and sound quality depicting the *interior* noises of the vehicle. You also did an excellent job picking up that noisy chassis vibration in the lower frequencies that microphones frequently miss.
    Too many people stick all their microphones near the exhaust and have the exhaust puffs cause massive sound clipping and call it "amazing sound." No, this video has amazing sound.

    • @rorcarte
      @rorcarte Před 7 lety +9

      And what's even more surprising is that this is purely off of the basic built in microphone of a GoPro

    • @TheFerruccio
      @TheFerruccio Před 7 lety +7

      Wow that is extremely surprising. If that's the case then this has got to be the best gopro microphone footage I've heard in a car. Excellent.

    • @rorcarte
      @rorcarte Před 7 lety +10

      i think it's down to it being attached to the driver as opposed to being on a roll cage, meaning that you don't hear all the vibrations of the road etc. the current gopro's do have excellent microphones however

      yeah, this is a car for the circuit de la sarthe, monza, nurburgring, spa (the old layout), etc. (where proper racing takes/took place)
      laguna seca only gets such a high level of respect because of the corkscrew, especially since it was butchered a few years back.

    • @JC-jj1xm
      @JC-jj1xm Před 6 lety +3

      His gearing was no where near setup for this circuit, pedaling it around important accerleration points and hitting top end too quickly. This is why 908/3's usually do so much better.
      And this is Canepa, he brings a small armada of cars and crew, unless he was running the gearing this car had in it's race livery.

    This car has long legs. Laguna Seca is to short for this car. It needs more space, more long
    straits to shine. As it did in Le Mans. You may loose some time in corners, but it will
    demolish the competion on the straits.
    However : great clip, nice sound, you can hear what this engine is capable of. A lot.

    • @BeanDip96_
      @BeanDip96_ Před 8 lety +8

      This type of configuration is very common on older prototypes with levers for shifting. It is a mid engined car, with the gearbox at the very back, so there is freedom as to where the shifter can be positioned. On this car there is a mechanical linkage that runs along the right side of the chassis and connects to the gearbox at the back to select the different gears.

      with a central gear lever there would have to b a lot mor linkages in between the lever itself and the box (to get the mechanism to link to transaxle gearbox, as the engine would be in the way), meaning a less positive feel, Greater chance of damage (nuts and bolts to come loose, more linkages mean more linkages to wear) and a majority of the drivers are more accustomed to having the lever on the right as most countries have left hand drive. most circuits run clockwise meaning that the driver is on the inside for most of the corners so the centrifugal force makes the car more balanced when turning right as the centre of pressure remains closer to the centre of the car (thats the theory anyway, look at 1960s indianapolis cars they are off centre for that reason) a lot of endurance cars used to be right hand drive to try to get a (very small) advantage, with modern telemetry, tyres, aerodynamics, regulations regarding weight, the balance can be manipulated much better these days in a much less crude fashion.

    Not to sound like a whiner, but I don't know how people survive these races from a mental perspective. I first go-karted and I lost all enthusiasm for sports cars and my complete understanding of racing as a sport changing. First your neck is clobbered, then you feel uncomfort with the helmet on, and then your mind tunnel visions as it is focused every second on combining visual input with mental filters which then relay output to control the car.
    I would love to drive these cars around a city to show off, but track events are just beyond me. I feel nauseated watching this video (not even exaggerating ).
