Yeah…this was so well done. The lead singer’s voice is like no other I have ever heard and their harmonies are Amazing. Such an underrated group…fantastic.
This video guts me every time. Remarkable in every way. The lyrics, the singing and the story of the video. How many men and women have lived this story?
A country classic from really a group of Yankee guys that carried the country torch as good as anyone! This band has never gotten the praise it should get, great voices and great lyrics!
@@stormcrow7698 Sadly this is too country for modern country radio. But I remember a time when this was considered too pop to be country. But damn fine band in my opinion.
I sure do miss these voices. Blackhawk had it all. Saw them in 1997, still do remember that show. They sound the same or better live, no monkey business on the recordings. These guys could sing , nothing like this in today's music
Can’t wait to go see this band live in March. My favorite Country band and in my top 10 favorite bands of all time. My dad got me hooked into them as a young kid and he would always play their albums he has of them and we’d always sing to the songs together. One of the biggest nostalgic bands of my life. Been listening to them a lot recently since my family got our tickets for a Christmas present. One of the best presents I’ve ever gotten because it’s something my whole family will get to go to together and will be a memory I’ll never forget.
If there was ever a golden flower in a field of weeds...Wow! The lyrics, rhythm wow! Where the usual musician takes that shortcut with a simple splattered painting... BlackHawk, you made a work with such detail and beauty that hits a personal note with a piece of history. Awesome work!
Frank from East Africa the 1990s and 1980s were the golden age of country music.I hope i will start a radio station nd Tv that would just pray thsse low tempo to mid tempo country music ballads all night long. ❤❤
Saw Blackhawk play live in the early 90's, ironically they played in the Blackhawk arena in Salina, Utah. There was a dance following the concert..good times... great music!
This hits closer to home than anyone could know , some of us have a postmark Birmingham in real life that never stops haunting or hurting. All we can do is try to move on
First Band ever to meet and go to hear them play at the fairgrounds in Indiana. That was so many years ago. Still one of my favorite bands of all time. I love most of their songs! Fan from Indiana 💕
This is an example of a group of guys that are actually very talented singers not like the stars of today that they slap together , auto-tune and tell you this is who you are 'Supposed to like'
Long ago in San Antonio I had the opportunity to see this great group. I was wanting them to do this song. Concert was over 😢. So I thought 😮. An lo an behold they came back out I didn't know they had heard me say "post marked Birmingham " Van looked over at me said this ones for you cowboy. 😢😢. They did it that was one great night.
This Song should be in the background of almost every Movie for the next 100 Movies.... Henry Paul is a National Treasure!! Give him the Key to the Country Ha!!! OUTLAWS LIVE FOREVER!!!
I pray that the lead guy of this awesome act is having himself a safe and awesome 74th birthday today (August 25th). God bless him and the remaining member always!!! Holly in east TN (one of their many fans) P.S. Van is still very much missed.
Very strange. I noticed this was posted a day ago. Once in a long while I look this song up for obvious reasons (not totally the same, no letter, it was through people and it was Michigan not Alabama). Strange it's dated one day ago... lol, rest is pretty much the same
A two page letter written on Ramada stationery, dated April22. She asked me not to hate her, said she's sorry, but leaving's what she felt she had to do. I really don't think songwriting can get any better than that.
Last time I made love to my wife April 22, 20 years ago. Montgomery Alabama. We are still friends. Lost her breasts to cancer couple years back, almost died. Funny how life works out. But that date, this song gets me.
God damit where are my babies who has my children it's been 6 months and I haven't seen my new babies Wyatt or my twins . GET the hell out of my house 🏠 🌃
In memory to two firemen. Killed in line of duty ! God is not pleased with your black evil cold heart wickedness. Stop the violence. In Jesus name we pray how can u kill someone putting out fires and saving lives ? Families. Put your feet firm that's goin to far wicked doers done that that's heroes. Slain innocent. Do the right thing and stop this violent ! Sorry
This video is very triggering for adoptees and natural mothers. More adoption propaganda. Super, super disappointed in a band I've admired since the nineties. Read into it more. Look at the statistics, before you go spreading feel good, happy sappy propaganda. I refuse to assign this meaning to an otherwise beautiful song. The video comes close to ruining. Now let the adopters, the "birth mothers" still drinking the Kool-Aid, and the adoptees who've not yet begun the deconstruction/decolonization process chime in to scold me and "school" me. With the same talking points, platitudes, and outright falsehoods I've heard all my life. There's an entire army of us determined to end adoption as we know it, aka legalized lies, in the US. Adoption won't cure your infertility. You are not entitled to a child because you want one. Look up what the Bible says about coveting!! And go to therapy.
I miss music like this. The stuff on the radio will never compare to this.
This was the best song to come out at the time at least in my mind.
That's a matter of perspective. But I agree blackhawk in general was top notch.
Amen
very true
I do also. Blackhawks was s great group. I worked for BMG music and this is one of the groups that was on our lable. I miss that job.
In my opinion, this masterpiece seems to be massivly underrated.
it sure is I was 17 when this song came out. in my opinion top 5 of Blackhawks best songs
"She never mentioned Alabama, so I don't understand " ...Right in the feels.

i lived it from the childs point of view
I was forced to sign papers because a father doesn't stand a chance with Catholic Charities
A country classic from really a group of Yankee guys that carried the country torch as good as anyone! This band has never gotten the praise it should get, great voices and great lyrics!
Absolutely, they never reached the highest of success that they truly deserved
I bet if they played it on modern country radio it would be an instant hit.
@@stormcrow7698 Sadly this is too country for modern country radio. But I remember a time when this was considered too pop to be country. But damn fine band in my opinion.

They're still doing shows at county fairs. I'm gonna see them for the 3rd time in July!
@@SheerMayhem Cab you let me know where they will be appearing? Id travel to hear them again.
Joe
@joe800096 Columbus Nebraska. Platte County fair. July 13th. Blackhawk, Sawyer Brown and Diamond Rio.
Yeah, this hits home from a simpler time. It still gives me the chills.
Yeah I'm 40. And I grew up with this and 90s alt. Great time of life. No cares at all

The blending of voices is soTouching
Thank y'all so much. Much love from Columbia, Missouri. God bless y'all.
One of the most powerful videos I've ever seen
Love these guys. Love the piano in this song. These guys really deserve the country awards for best harmony and greatest hits!!!

Y'all will always be a favorite of mine. Be good kiddos. Y'all still sound the same as you did when you first began.

My favorite country band
The piano parts on this are amazing.
Takes me back to my late teen years in the 90s. Such a fantastic song and band. One of the all time bests in my opinion. Much love from Utah.
This has always been a favorite of mine. Sad but beautiful and was happy that I was notified about it being shared. Thanks for all your great music!
Great music. The best group by far. Such great harmony ❤️❤️❤️
Saw Blackhawk play live in the early 90's, ironically they played in the Blackhawk arena in Salina, Utah. There was a dance following the concert..good times... great music!
MY ALL TIME FAVORITE! Thanks fellas for such a great life in the 90s. Music was up loud…..not a care in the world!

Back when they made real country music
This song is deep ... Blackhawk is amazing..
It was such an honor to meet y'all and i am proud of the pictures and autographs from y'all. Wow i am still in awww.

Just saw them perform in pigeon forge on new years Eve was an amazing show !!!!
One of my all time favorite groups. Got to see them here at our zoo one night with a girl I was dating. Such a fun outdoor concert.
Great music. Love the piano. These guys are great!!! ❤️🙏❤️
Such an underrated song!!! Just saw them the other night, July 13, 2024!!
These guys had one of the best harmonies of their day....similar to Alabama, Little Texas, Diamond Rio or any of the others of this time.....
I was 20 when this came out oh to be able to go back!
This song hit home when they played it tonight in Oxford Alabama, great job guys
I thought one of them died?

I love there harmony.
It looks like years didn't roll by you, cause you still sound as I remember back in the 90's.
P.D. my name's Henry too😉😉
It wasn't their most popular song. But it's my favorite.
Mine too!
Timeless
Love Black Hawk.

April 22… my granddaughter’s birthday.
3 of the sweetest guys. I had the pleasure to meet Van before he passed away

This is the best song they ever did together.
My sister and I sneaked into a concert at Sam’s Town Tunica Ms. Still have the guitar pick I caught.
The unmistakable voice of Henry Paul singing what was written by Phil Vassar is what makes this a musical gem. JMHO, of course..... Sparks in Daytona
Love this song. Blackhawk is the real deal . and I also live in Alabama.Roll tide.
Something about Birmingham. I remember the day this song was released...Friday if course as they all were...b4...
Amen, Kevin Brewer
Love them ❤

Most underrated
I love Blackhawk music ❤I can seat and listen to it all the time
Miss you Van. RiP ❤
Back for another listen!❤😂❤😂
awesome voice!
These guys always were great
A great Phil Vassar cowrite
"The answer's in a circle,
with the word love on a stamp,
Postmarked Birmingham..."
I believe Phil wrote it, not cowrote it.
The group has a great unity !!!
This song makes me want to learn how to play the piano.

This video makes no sense. What does adopting a kid have to do with going to Birmingham
I take it she gave up the baby at birth and after several years wanted to see what she looked like and how she’s living.
This video is very triggering for adoptees and natural mothers. More adoption propaganda. Super, super disappointed in a band I've admired since the nineties.
