I was so glad when I heard this playing on the radio on our way to Wyoming. I was hooked with just one song and then I wEnt out and got the cassette and having been eNjoying the band ever since. Henry does have a wonderful voice ❤
Here I am in 2020... I really wish other artists knew how to play with their music and their own voices like these guys. Hands down underrated PS I didn't mean play with their music like the way we're seeing electronically I meant musical tricks
Saw them at Frontier Days, incredible concert. In this song, "That's Just About Right" the longer hair blonde fella playing guitar formed the group McBride and the Ride. They had several good hit songs.
I so enjoyed listening to the Band Blackhawk live. They sounded identical to their studio recordings. Awesome talent!! I would love the opportunity to hear them live again. Rest in heaven Van Harrison. 🙏❤️🎶🙏❤️🎶
28 years went by. I wanted to take my kids to see them in 1996 in Las Vegas, but that was impossible because I didn't have them that weekend...family court ruins families. Now I live in the Arizona mountains and my son Mark is in the Utah mountains. Thanks for the beautiful music. I can't stop crying.😢 ❤
Yep , I'm on the 50/50 bro , I get them on Wednesday night for 2 and half hours for dinner on my off week,, so many times I see something I'd like to take the boys to but it's her weekend, the government and family court has ruined the American family,, broken home rates are getting out of control
@@allen4758 yep family Court's a big piece of s***. I did manage to facilitate judge Jones in Las Vegas going to prison for 2 years. He was a corrupt crook and took Millions from the elderly very sad for the children in moms and dads
@Rob on bass I unfortunately knew that Van passed away, but I didn't know that he was in this band, and I remember hearing this song in the '90's especially at work, because we listened to country music on Mondays. I only knew of Van from his 1984 hit Modern Day Delilah.
This is so true, I lost my grandfather on 8/15/19 and my mother on 3/8/20, and this song is all about perspectives. I'm hurting down here but they are happy and seeing beautiful things that we cant even fathom. I love you mom, give Grandpa a hug for me.
Guys, me to, this reminds me of my grandmother and my parents who are all in heaven now. It’s very Hard sometimes without them. I lost my mom this year in April. The hardest thing I have ever done was watch them take their last breath. We miss our family. It does hurt Jeremy but I believe we’ll be with them again. I was with my mom everyday. When she passed I felt like I didn’t have a purpose anymore. It’s been a rough month with Christmas, mom wasn’t there or dad. I hope you start feeling better, the holidays are hard. Feel better ok, just know Thurber wat hung over you!!!😊
This song reminds me of my best friend. She passed in March. In the 90s we listened to this tape all the time. Cruised around town. Miss her so much. Hearing this song makes me smile and cry.
My old friend, Lives up in the mountains He flew up there to paint the world He says, "Even though interpretation's what I count on, this little picture to me seems blurred" "Hard lines and the shadows come easy I see them all just as clear as a bell I just can't seem to set my easel to please me; I paint my Heaven, but it looks like Hell" Your blue might be gray, your less might be more Your window to the world might be your own front door Your shiniest day might come in the middle of the night That's just about right He says, "Man, I ain't comin' down 'til my picture is perfect And all the wonder has gone from my eyes" Down through my hands and onto the canvas, Still like my vision but still a surprise" "Real life", he says, "is the hardest impression It's always movin' so I let it come through" "And that", I say, "is the glory of true independence" "Just do what you do what you just gotta do" Your blue might be gray, your less might be more Your window to the world might be your own front door Your shiniest day might come in the middle of the night That's just about right My friend came down from the mountain Without even looking, he found a little truth "You can go through life with the greatest intentions; but you do what you do what you just gotta do" (Yeah) Your blue might be gray, your less might be more Your window to the world might be your own front door Your shiniest day might come in the middle of the night That's just about right
Hey, that older man in the background... his friend, the guy he is singing about. That's Howard Finnster. I'm not sure about the spelling of his last name, but he's a known folk artist. No training, he was a preacher and started painting, very cool stuff. No longer alive though, but his 'garden' he created still exists, I believe. I'd love to see it.
Real life he says is the hardest impression It’s always moving so I let it come through That my friend I say is the glory of true independence Just to do what you do, what you do, what you do
I have to admit, when this song came out, I never paid particular attention to the words. I loved the music, the beat as you will. Here recently my ears were opened, as they say. Thank you sirs, (Blackhawk) as it is such a true description of our lives! It's Just About Right! Thank you!
Yep, I get what you’re saying. I listen to a lot of country music from the late 80s through early 2000s. Then for at least a decade I barely listen to any of this, now that I’m back into it I realize there’s a lot of songs I was hearing without really comprehending.
I saw them live as well in Kansas. Before the show, they were at the K Mart signing their CD. I told myself "If I'm getting so close to them, I'm gonna get me some hugs!" Well, I went down the line and hugged them all. They smelled so good. Well, I guess I started quite a stir cause all the other girls in line started hugging them too. Even the girls that already got their autographs got back in line to get some hugs too! LOL. My husband just walked away. I found him in another part of Kmart talking to one of his friends. I walked up to him and said "UMMM I CAN STILL SMELL THEM....... He told his friend "I gotta get her out of here" Went to the show that night and they were awesome!
Your shinier days might come in the middle of the night, that's just about right. This song moves me and I've been listening to them since their hit song "Every once in awhile" and really was blown away by each song they made. Strangely, I heard this song many times I just never stopped to listen to the words and to see the video, makes it even better. Howard Finster was a great man and passed a few years back, his art work is unbelievable. But here now in 2020, Blackhawk is still kicking ass and going strong.
THIS is country! Brings back so much memories of when I was a kid and my whole family was at the house for a bbq, all my cousins, uncle's, aunt's... I'm still young but life isn't as simple as it was back then. I miss those days.
Heard this song on radio for first time a few days ago on digital country music station in Australia. LOVE THIS SONG - 25 years have past - and I missed it.
This song is dedicated to Howard Finster of Paradise Gardens. He was a Folk Artist among many of the wonderful talents he had. Ive lived my whole life where this song was taken place in the Great Chattooga County. When my grand father was little Howard Finster gave him a little car that he made and hand painted, and my grand mother still has it till this day. Long live Howard Finster. Rest easy Sir.
Yes, his talent is missed so much. Blackhawk is still going strong here in 2020. Howard Finster passed a few years back and his art work is amazing, I'm so glad that the producer at this time when they shot this video, decided to have Howard Finster in this video, it blows me away. A great, honorable man. Blackhawk is the fucking best!!
I miss the good old days listening to old country takes me back to the best times of my life I miss my mom and my uncle so much and my dad is very bad sick now it hurts so much

"Your shiniest day might come in the middle of the night." Poetry, pure and simple.
This band was soooo underrated. Seen them live, and it was EPIC!
Me too! It happened to be on my 21st birthday. Memory of a lifetime. I'll be 40 this year 🎉❤
His voice makes the band. Not many country singers got a voice like he does. Just wow. I sure do miss the old country music
No one has a voice like Henry, it's beautiful
Marty Robbins is another good example, voice like the softest blanket after a long hard day.
Henry used to sing in the outlaws. They have a little bit of rock n blues in their blood.
Henry is a great vocalist ❤️🧡💛💚💙
I was so glad when I heard this playing on the radio on our way to Wyoming. I was hooked with just one song and then I wEnt out and got the cassette and having been eNjoying the band ever since. Henry does have a wonderful voice ❤
Henry Paul has a rock and roll soul. I've enjoyed all of his music in all bands.
Blackhawk is probably the greatest three part harmony band of all time.
That's Just About Right. :P
Except for Restless Heart.
I second that
How about Restless Heart?
I have always said this. You just don't get music like this anymore. SMH!!!!
I sure wish country was still like the 90s !
I do too!!!!
... and every other genre of music 🤣🤷🏻♀️
You mean like any time but now
Absolutely!
Just about right 👍
Which country still sounded like this got to love 90s country
Every track on their albums were hits and true country songs. Not a single bad track.
This is about the most perfect music you can ask for. True and pure.
Right on!
Absolutely agree
When they sang rock and roll they were awesome too. ( outlaws) green grass and high tides was an awesome song. They're great musicians
Back when country was country and not like the stuff of today which is CUNTry.
Blackhawk is amazing. Van Stephenson is missed. Like van told the guys, don't give up don't do it. Keep making new music! God bless you guys!
It doesn't sound the same without Van, still love Henry -& Dave, but to me Blackhawk magic is gone
Miss you van
These dudes kick ass
Here I am in 2020... I really wish other artists knew how to play with their music and their own voices like these guys. Hands down underrated

I agree I love country
I'm here 2021
Exactly
Now still here 2022

2019 and still one of the best country bands EVER
2020

2021!
Agree!
2022 coming up in a few weeks :(
This is what country music should sound like; it never gets old

Finally someone mentions Van .... Hard to believe he has been gone for like 21 years ... Where did time go

This is what an underrated band looks and sounds like
How were they underrated?...they were all over country radio in the mid '90's
There it is! I look for the underrated comment on every old country video. It’s always there at least once.
Mullets and incredible harmonies....when country music was still awesome .

Road trip music!
I remember BlackHawk and TIm McGraw opening up for Little Texas back in 1994...great concert...
Brian Greene sounds awesome
My old friend,
Lives up in the mountains
He flew up there to paint the world
He says, "Even though interpretation's what I count on, this little picture to me seems blurred"
"Hard lines and the shadows come easy
I see them all just as clear as a bell
I just can't seem to set my easel to please me;
I paint my Heaven, but it looks like Hell"
Your blue might be gray, your less might be more
Your window to the world might be your own front door
Your shiniest day might come in the middle of the night
That's just about right
He says, "Man, I ain't comin' down 'til my picture is perfect
And all the wonder has gone from my eyes"
Down through my hands and onto the canvas,
Still like my vision but still a surprise"
"Real life", he says, "is the hardest impression
It's always movin' so I let it come through"
"And that", I say, "is the glory of true independence" "Just do what you do what you just gotta do"
Your blue might be gray, your less might be more
Your window to the world might be your own front door
Your shiniest day might come in the middle of the night
That's just about right
My friend came down from the mountain
Without even looking, he found a little truth
"You can go through life with the greatest intentions; but you do what you do what you just gotta do" (Yeah)
Your blue might be gray, your less might be more
Your window to the world might be your own front door
Your shiniest day might come in the middle of the night
That's just about right
