He meets Mary, falls in love and finally wins her heart via time-travel and a little cunning. However, as his unusual life progresses, Tim finds that his special ability can't shield him and those he loves from the problems of ordinary life.

One little detail about this movie that I never realised until now: his father was the right choice to be the best man because, like Tim, he can always go back and make the speech better.

This movie made me realize how much I value my relationship with my dad and how short of a time we have in this world and that we should make the most of it. For years I thought of having one of my oldest friends be my Best Man, but now I’ve chosen my dad to be the Best Man at my wedding
You start out thinking that it’s the love story of Tim & Mary, but you slowly realize that it’s the story of the love between a father & his son. I love the ending when Tim says that he no longer travels back , he just lives each day as if he’s traveled back to this particular day, just living his extraordinary, ordinary life.
I’ve had this movie on my DVR for about 5 or 6 years. I watch it whenever my spirit needs to be uplifted

Love this movie. I’m really happy that it did not get weirdly heavy or follow other generic time travel movies where there is some kind of dire consequence for time traveling or the main character uses time travel to gain power and wealth. Imagine, a time travel movie where the only use of the power is to find happiness for you and those around you. Truly a feel good and wholesome movie.
The movie was amazing. The decisions he made weren't random, they were well thought out and the time traveling is something we all can relate to the what if moments. Loved this film.

That part where both his father and he go back to when they were younger is heart wrenching dude. That's just pure wholesome love. Made me cry, you never see scenes like that.
Second hardest I've ever cried watching a movie. Looking at you, Onward.
made me tear up too ian gon’ lie
It's a plot hole though, because if they went back that far, that means Tim risks his kids being different again.
@@richeats you cried watching Onward? wow
I agree. Loved that part of the scene.
Little things that I noticed: 1) Tim tried to use his time traveling powers to make Charlotte fall in love with him. It didn't work. But, he never had to use his powers to make Mary fall in love with him. Even when he used his powers to become a better lover for Mary, he didn't need to. 2) The movie defies traditional stereotypes and categories. Although it is definitely romantic, funny, and sugary, It is not a rom-com. Although it has time travel, it is not a sci-fi. In fact, the romance and the science fiction elements serve to undergird the the central theme of the movie: "REALLY live life in the present with deep love and kindness". What makes this movie so radically different from other "time travel" films is that the main character doesn't uses his powers for banal and selfish things like winning the lottery. The results, although not unexpected, are refreshingly interesting. 3) Because Tim and his father are "in" on their secret, it allows the movie makers to explore their relationship a satisfying and unique ways. It could be argued that this movie is more about Tim and his father than about Tim and Mary. 4) Although Tim has the ability to travel back in time, Mary has the greater power. Her love for Tim caused him to let go of the past and to embrace the present.
1). He did use his power to make Mary fall in love with him. She has a boyfriend and he travel back to prevent that from happening.
2). He did use it for selfish reason.
Probably one of the most wholesome movies I have seen and its just some guy relishing his moments in life in this About Time movie.

I was expecting a big twist where he accidentally goes back in time and undoes everything with no way of going back to the present. I’m happy it was just a wholesome ending with hun having a happy family life
I know, would've been a cooler plot. But I guess this was just a feel-good movie.
Actually, if that could happen, he would had a good part of the memories he hadn't forgot, so even if that happened, he could partially replicate the life he once lived, without a checkpoint or anything, but he could make something worth it

This may be one of the best uses of time travel I've ever seen. Its not some random McGuffin to inflat some random plot, but is just a wholesome power to let the main character relive his life, and change his future for a positive. Its literally being able to examine all the "what-ifs" we have about our actions, how those actions have complex and sometimes unforeseen consequences that would of bumped into us had we not chosen them, or not chosen them.
hey what did you called him? McGuffin? Nobody calls him McGuffin!
Yeah, it's definitely a departure from the usual trope. Even his ability to go back and fully reverse his mistakes like getting his daughter back. Usually the character's attempt to cause a certain outcome just end up causing more of a mess the more they try to change things.

My actual birthday was in the 1980s.
@@thegamerboytgb4350 I just checked, it says that I joined 9 years ago. This is 2022...9 years ago was 2013...so if I was born in 2016, then I created my user profile account for CZcams 3 years before I was born.
@@thegamerboytgb4350 You really should study some math...this being 2022, 2016 was only 6 years ago...so I am a 6 year old who figured out how to make a CZcams account 3 years before I was born...and you disagree with me on a topic that involves time travel of all things.
This movie was way deeper than I could’ve ever possibly imagined. My ex husband who never ever cried, bawled his eyes out in the car after seeing this. It was so surprising!!- a beautiful and lovely film
Yes this seems like a REALLY good mivie
were you in the car with him?
I can imagine the "ex" part has a lot to do with him crying.
I never cry either, and even just the recap of the father and son going back to their younger times made me tear up.
@@CronicasDeGisthia you have a very vivid imagination
A sweet time travel movie all about family. Save this masterpiece!!
Wow amazing movie. I love how he makes a mistake, but realizes he messed up, making him use the time traveler to fix the problem, meaning he doesn’t want to let anyone down. That’s a true human being right there. Only using the time traveler for good. To cherish the moments with loved ones. I mean love, friends, family and God is everything to this world. i wouldn’t change any of that.
This is an ungodly amount of talent in a cast. Holy crap. And phenomenally simple writing. No tricks... no gimmicks.
The part of this film that gets me is when he learns to love the mundane moments. Some of my best memories are simply standing in a room and rocking my daughter to sleep. Like him just holding her in the train seat and smiling. Enjoying the moment.
If I may suggest "Peaceful Warrior" 2006 with Scott Mechlowicz and Nick Nolte. If you haven't already seen it.
no tricks no gimmicks not stupid americanos action drama etc... ohh i forgot it is an UK movie. not the standard american cheap plot.
mabey i get old and grumpy, but it is a good movie. and getting to old for american action.
@@johanv4668 Yeah, we make a lot of action and stupid formulaic movies over here... but we've got some good ones too. ;)
Anyone know the name soundtrack in the background?
Wow…a time travel movie with a good message and no convoluted bs…that’s a first.
I love this channel.. it recaps great movies I've never heard of and probably never would.. Now I want to see this movie. The studios should be paying you for this Lol.
I saw this movie in an indie theater through recommendations and loved it! Very creative and well done!
