I am in SE NC! My first perennial from seed was a purple coneflower. I picked up the seed head while touring Tryon Palace in New Bern several years ago. They had a kitchen garden as part of the history of the place they were reproducing. It was the end of November, so the coneflowers were about done. I put the seeds in a tissue in my pocket and saved them until the following spring. They are still going strong! Love your videos!
I started winter sowing after watching your videos last year. Your excitement made me feel like I could do it even though I live in a completely different part of the country. It worked out so well that I did it again this year. So far I been able to plant out lettuce, cilantro, and peas now I am waiting eagerly for the flowers. My only problem is being too lazy to label. You think you will remember, but then you can not tell the difference. LOL
Love the rose rhapsody. I’ve had really good luck propagating salvia from cuttings…with yours so far along already you maybe able to get a bunch more plants that bloom this season rather than going the seed route!
Thank you so much for sharing, I have this shasta daisy growing throughout my landscape every year and always think that it is a weed and pull it every time. I know that I have planted seeds but thought that they did not take and this year I will have some.
My salvia re seeds itself everywhere when I don't deadhead them. There were 5 plants when I moved into this house and 6 yrs later they are everywhere in my garden lol
Thank you for being so real ❤ the weather in NC this spring has been so crazy like usual. The weeds exploded in my front garden and it’s a great undertaking to get it presentable again 😢
I can't believe your lambada bee balm didn't reseed! After mine bloomed and turned brown I seeded it everywhere and I'm finding it popping up in several places. My black eyed susans reseed allllll over my yard, but love em!

Anise hyssop definitely spreads! I grow mine in containers and it even spreads from container to container! But I love it so much that is okay with me. :) And Im in the same place as you with the stocks I planted last year - still waiting to see that I'm going to love it! I'm also super excited about all the perennials that I planted last year starting to bloom - hooray!

I was inspired by so many of your winter sow videos that I decided to try it out this year! I’m in Colorado and have seen several milk jugs with baby seedlings! We have a month left before our last frost date but I’ve noticed that it hasn’t been raining that much so I lightly mist my milk jugs everyday. I hope you get a lot of success this year and figure out why it’s taking longer than normal!
Love your videos ❤❤I just have one question! How are you dealing with pests? This is my first year of transforming my garden. But oh boy the pests just love my zinnias and tomatoes and everything!! 😂😂 I don’t want to use chemicals that harm the soil or my cats. Any recommendations??
Neem oil is organic and works on most pests, but look up what time to spray it as it can be harmful to bees. I usually spray it when the bees aren’t as active. BT (also organic) is good for caterpillars, budworms, and tomato hornworms. U can also do companion planting which will attract good bugs that eat the bad bugs or will work as a trap crop to attract bad bugs. Brian from Next Level Gardening YT channel wrote a book on companion planting which I have, and it’s an excellent book!
