Why when you press you code to unlock it you press the code then follow up with the kwikset button? Wi just press the code with no need to press kwikset and it immediately unlocks my door
@DAT-TEXAS-DUDE this is the programming process. Once it's programmed you don't have to press the kwikset button before or after anymore. Unless you want to turn on the back light, or restart your input if you put in the wrong number

The best video for the kwikset lock. Straight to the point. I finally got rid of the annoying beeping sound that kept waking my kids up. And his other lock tips are very helpful!

I have always been a Schlage person. Had them on every exit door at our old house. She moved into new house in August I put the Schlage locks on two exit doors that work with the app to lock/unlock or set codes to allow access for others if need be. Need a code lock for a closet door with valuables and bought this lock and absolutely love it. The keypad is easier to use than the Schlage I bought.

How does the interior lever work will it unlock itself if pulled down? Have a toddler and dont want them to be able to open door by themselves.
Inside is always unlocked (that's fire code)
Once you've disabled the program button ..how do you set a new lock code?
You can't disable the program button, you can only disable the master / programming code
What do ya do if it won’t let you enter a user code? Just blinks red when trying to enter
Have you put in the wrong code too many times?
1:42 you may also have user codes disabled
Is there a way to lock the door from outside by pressing the kwikset button?
I don't think so. You can either flip the auto-lock switch on the back, or wait for the auto-lock timer.
What to do when to when the code continuously beeps red and will not accept any commands or factory reset???
It may be "locked" from wrong entries. So if you can't wait you may have to factory reset it
Trying to disable all codes. I press the program button, then 4, then Kwickset. But it blinks red after?
Follow the instructions at 1:42
4 is to DELETE all user codes.
6 is to disable it
does all of this work for a Kwikset 917?
I'm not sure. I know its not the same as my other Keikset pinpad locks.
Help installed my new stepped outside left the keys inside and automatically lock what do I do I can't get back in my apartment please help
You should still have either the default code setup or be able to use the new code you set up on it

What stops intruders from sticking a pin in the reset and using their own key to break in?
You have to have the original key before it will allow you to reset it
How do I eliminate the auto lock?
Just turn the switch on the inside. I just made a #short for you on how it works.

Does this come with a key
Mine came with 2 keys.
So I was able to change my code once and now I can't do it again
You may have to factory reset it
After I deleted all the codes, now it’s not letting me add a new code

I just tried the process to delete all codes and it beeped red and the keypad went dead
Did you actually watch the video? From your previous comment, you weren't following the on-screen instructions. You may have to do a Factory reset & start over.

the factory reset doesnt work that you instructed
