Better slate, than never ;)
Bad puns aside the reason I picked "The Slate Escape", is rather simple. I wanted to remake something that wasn't in trainz into trainz. I also wanted to do something recent, as the audio in max's older stuff would be a little distracting. Also I wanted to do something short but entertaining. Therefore I picked "The Slate Escape, puns and all! ;)
Making this was more difficult than it may seem. To translate shots that are possible in one medium don't work in the other. Thus I really had to add alot of my own style into the choice of shots. A big thing I had to deal with was that in the episode, the sheds are the tv series location and I could only really use the rws one. It is largely the same, although I was trying to replicate the same style and atmosphere, while also creating something visually different.
Like most “creatives” the part I did last and more recently is that part I like the most. I was quite surprised by the atmosphere I created by mainly using waterfall steam and a little bit of editing magic, to create a very similar atmosphere to that of the source material. I don’t think its quite award winning material but its the fun of taking part that counts ;)
