- We are trying out a setup for TTRPG, mainly for solo, using Obsidian + Excalidraw + Espanso. For dice rolling, both Dice Roller plugin and Espanso will help me. Like the idea? let me know! Check my Blog! jvhouse.xyz

Very cool!
This is my current setup (although I haven't tried Excalidraw, but it is in my pipeline to try it). I've been fiddling with Espanso quite a lot, to integrate obsidian with a python console app to manage and create random tables automatically. I made it work so it could also accept parameters, but it seemed to me like too complicated to set it up. I have, on the other hand, used "template" plugin which comes with Obsidian by default and made it work easier, and consumes less cpu. Main difference is that you can make Espanso work in any app, while template is only for obsidian.
Fantastic!!! Yes, I also thought a lot about parameters. The most elegant way I found was using forms (to take Mythic likelihood for example), but indeed it is quite some effort. I wish I could somehow just write them down. Overall the setup is good but I feel it for those who are not tech savvies, as it is not really accessible. Obsidian+Excalidraw+Dice Roller is more than enough though, I think. One could place mythic tables in there and roll dice with manual overlook. Haven't heard of template plugin, thanks!
@@jeansenvaars I used forms too, but as mentioned, although I made it work, it was very complex. Had to adapt python code, had to modify espanso config file.... espanso is also running no the background... then I found this video: czcams.com/video/BiF0MMTKLvQ/video.html it talks both about obsidian's basic templates as well as templater. I managed to use forms like I would on espanso but much easier and integrated with obsidian :)
Splendid video and a lot of help for me as I am trying to use Obsidian for the same purpose. The sound of the music and your keyboard typing made it difficult to hear your voice, which was exceptionally soft. If I could suggest/request it would be to reduce those noises and raise the volume of your voice. Thanks!
Thanks, yes. It's a terrible video from recording point of view. I will look forward to record a new better one soon.
@@jeansenvaars Thanks. I hate giving those kinds of requests on the first video but this is a topic I am really interested in.
Hello! Obsidian is really great tool! I've been looking for something like this for a long time. :) Cause of Notepad ++ is not the most convenient program for narrative solo rpg games ;)
It would be very interesting and useful for me if you would write down a guide on using Espanso + any programming language. (But sadly I programming just js/ts etc..) It is not necessary to show tables of mythic at all. Abstract examples would be enough, as in the video about converting tables using RegExp.
P.S> Thanks for your videos, I've watched every one. And double thanks for the plugins to FVTT!
Oh wow. Much appreciated for your kudos. It is nice to have some fans here and there haha. Need to work out on my CZcams skills but certainly I can help with Espanso guide or soon share my setup
Would you be willing to share your espanso mythic customization?
Really interesting set up you have!
Thanks Julio. The script is not finished but the main issue is also that it includes proprietary tables. Will think about it perhaps I can release a bundle with the core pieces soon!
@@jeansenvaars BTW, where is the Espanso plugin for Obsidian? I am not familiar with Espanso.
@@michaelc8246 you are not mistaken :D Espanso is an independent utility. It is an errata of the video, should be in the auxiliar utility. Espanso replaces such commands everywhere in your computer, it has nothing to do with Obsidian :)
what theme do you have in this video ?
no theme, stock Obsidian by default :)
