    I really like PUM as a GM emulator. I’d say its my favourite. I’ve tried many including Mythic. PUM definitely guides you more but its always under your control.
    Its worth expanding on why you cannot advance the Plot Track without a modified or a random scene. Both of these approaches will change the story in exciting and unexpected ways for you. I guarantee you will like the outcome and that is why you are rewarded with progress. As per standard group play, the plot evolves outside of your own imagination and expectation. The GM has their ideas as do the other players. Its PUMs way of bringing that feeling to the game. Great stuff!

      That's a very good observation - Indeed, prompts are fun to play with when they are understood after a bit of tinkering with them :)

    Thanks for this man. Every time I see one of these videos, I get so pumped to play again. PUM/GUM have been amazing my friend, thank you again.

    Wow! That was an excellent video - clear, concise and relatable. I was put off of Solo Role Playing by Mythic years ago. I really like how you compared and contrasted PUM with Mythic allowing the viewer to reach their own conclusions about which/why to use one over the other. Wonderful tool you have created.
    Now I'm looking forward to your SUM and GUM play examples!

      Thanks so much! Indeed - I need to cover SUM and GUM properly, although spoiler alert, they can't be played on their own :) they are extensions to other GM Emulators you play with

      @@jeansenvaars Ohhhhh! I did not understand that they are supplements to _other_ GM emulators! That's a very significant insight. Thank you for clarifying, that sheds a new light on their intended purpose. That's incredibly helpful for standalone systems that I felt played a bit flat.

    Wow, this is such a brilliant video! Very good explanation, straight to the point, excellent examples. Extremely helpful for a novice solo roleplayer like myself. And fantastic job on PUM, looks like a great tool!

    This is a great Video. Since I purchased the v8 I don't regret that. For me it is working very well. I used it for Investigation, Fantasy and post apocaliptic. All with the 2D20 system.
    I also used it for a co-op game and it was running well, even my daughter prefers freeform story telling :)
    I think I have to use the interaction oracle more.

    Hey some good examples, but I wish you did it with Mythic, which is more common in the solo sphere.

      Yeah! I was planning on playing Mythic soon one day - that is true Mythic is if not the facto standard for GM emulation

    How would I set up to play a published adventure?

    • @jeansenvaars
      @jeansenvaars  Před 5 měsíci +1

      big big question :D - but spoiler alert: use Plot Nodes

    • @Compnative
      @Compnative Před 5 měsíci

      I was thinking about this too, and how I can use this when DMing for other players as well to combine both sandbox play with published adventures. For example, if you know the beginning summary details of a published adventure, or several published adventures, you can use those details as plot nodes. So if your players are wandering around a town randomly in open sandbox play with no agenda, the things they discover can point them towards published adventures. So your open sandbox and published adventure play can connect seemlessly via plot nodes. Love the videos @jeansenvaars
