My best friend in high school wrote a "fictional" story where she created a character (that was clearly supposed to be me) which she dubbed "the ugly, fat, cow woman" (I was like 105 lbs at the time - I'm short - so thought that was weird/judgmental that she kept calling me fat), then made herself and dubbed her the "beautiful Swedish ninja business woman". She also put in my at-the-time boyfriend, who was Japanese. In real life, him and I were going to a school dance together (because we were dating) - in the story, the ugly cow woman kidnapped the handsome Japanese man and forced him to attend the dance with her, while stuffing her face with donuts or something. So the ninja business woman swooped in, fought the cow woman, KILLED HER, and was able to attend the dance with the handsome Japanese man who was actually in love with her all along. She then sent this to me and was like, "Isn't my story great?" Yea, best friends can be hella toxic.
PS - I ultimately broke up with that boyfriend because he was really controlling. He then stalked me for about 1.5 years and she tried to date him that whole time, but he kept rejecting her. A whole bunch of awkward/weird/chaotic energy looking back.

I remember unconsciously comparing myself to my elder sister because she fits in the beauty standards, has amazing grades, was popular, and is extremely extroverted but I later realized that it was very wrong to do that and that I shouldn't do that to myself or my sister. I am still struggling with self-confidence but it isn't as bad now that I have stopped the toxic comparison

Yeah I was the same way for so long and always compared myself to my older sister but I realized how wrong it was to do that so I stopped myself and my sister and I have a better relationship because of it
oh boy, both me and my sister were compared our whole lives because we're fraternal twins and you cannot believe the inferiority complexes and jealousy we had with each other about almost everything from grades, looks, friends, personality, coping mechanisms, skills, etc etc. Our relationship deteriorated so bad because of it until we finally got our shit together and our relationship improved a lot.

My mom was always mean about it, too because the thing she admires most in a girl/woman is natural beauty.

In Asian most beauty standards: brighter skin is seen prettier than having dark skins. I still remember years ago that my best friend(not anymore) was ALWAYS comparing her skin with mine in front of our friends. When I was chit chatting with my friends, she randomly cut into our conversation and asked them: *"Who has brighter skin? Me or her?"* My friends and i went silent for a sec and thought what da heck is going on. Then they *awkwardly* replied *"Well, both of you have the same bright skin".* But tbh, she obviously has brighter skin than mine and prettier back then. I guess my friends just said that because they don't wanna hurt my feelings (Blessed to have them btw). I was often feeling insecure and ugly because my skin is darker than other girls. Even the guys were comparing her beauty with mine when I'm around her. It hurts, but I accept the fact that I'm ugly. But when years went by, I don't give af about this garbage beauty standards anymore. Now that I have grew up with brighter skin (idk how, puberty maybe?), but I've already seen myself pretty when my skin is still dark. I realized many girls with dark skins are beautiful. And that beauty is not all about having brighter skin or dark skin, skinny or fat, tall or short, but it's about our personality. Our inner self define our beauty. And if you found your soulmate, he will always find you the most attractive girl he ever seen. And that's because: *beauty is in the eye of the beholder,* not the beauty standards that most girls trying to become. Be different.

Tbh u can never be pretty in asian beauty standards. also, most asian countries have a herd mentality and are afraid to break the norm, so it's even harder to love yourself for being different when you're being bullied or mistreated for it. dude, I had a wayyy toxic relationship that I just dropped two days after my birthday in february. I didn't notice but it took me almost a year to notice that these bitches weren't really my friends. The main bully would always question me for using he/they pronouns as a trans person and he was cis. And on top of that, he would make me question myself and my decisions if I didn't agree with him. And the second I went silent he was like "Are you thinking about leaving? Please, you can't leave, you're my best friend and I've had so many people leave me in the past"
basically guilt tripping me into staying and the two other people that are his mutual friends would follow him around like mindless puppets. The girl in the friend group would tell us she has a mental illness and the main bully would say gatekeep that and say "You're not really [blank]" just because they had the same mental illness/mixed ethnicity. And with the other guy in the friend group, the bully would use him as a punching bag whether or not i was there. So I left the group and tried to apologize to the girl in the group a few months later, but she tried to guilt trip me into coming back and apologizing to everyone. It's a shame really since the three of them were nearing adulthood and here i am, 16, still more mature and having more self worth then all three of them combined

My toxic friend trio would always leave me out and make me cry literally every day but they were my only friends so I had no choice. One girl from the trio would screenshot ugly pictures of me from videos I took and then send them to everyone with the intention of people thinking I’m ugly. About a week ago I stopped being friends with that girl but I stayed friends with the other girl from the trio which was my “best friend “ of 9 years. Recently they hung out every day together with this other girl and I feel like I could of easily been replaced from the start. When I get back to school I’ll be completely alone and I’m so stressed about it because they were my only friends. :(
Its better to be alone than be surrounded by toxic people. If you like to read, just take a book or two with you and maybe read in a more secluded area. Trust me stay the hell away from toxic people, you might as well hang out with a crocodile, at least it has honest Intentions
