Finally Kings beat their big brother. This is the King's NBA championship. They not gonna get very far but I'm definitely rooting for them.

Speaking as a Pistons fan with absolutely no dog in the race in the west, I think it's pretty absurd that a team with more wins and less losses could possibly not make the playoffs. Not trying to hate on the Lakers or Kings, but the Pelicans could not make the playoffs with a better record than the other two that do. Seems pretty ridiculous to me, especially with how strong the west is. The NBA is all but telling us that the regular season really doesn't matter.

To be clear, Zion hasn’t only played in a few meaningful big games. This was literally the first real meaningful game of his entire career. He has never played a single playoff game in his career. So props to him for having one of the best SORT of playoff debuts I’ve ever seen. The first win or game home game of his career and he went for 17/27 40 points 11 rebounds and 5 assists. The man is so over hated. He had a really great season, and he also doesn’t get enough credit for how elite he has been when he has been able to play. That doesn’t excuse the eating habits and the games he has missed etc, but it annoys me when people act as if he hasn’t been elite when he’s been on the court. Like historically elite in a lot of ways. He’s 28/7/5 per 36 on 59 % FG for his career lol. He’s never averaged under 22.5 ppg. Not a lot of NBA plahers EVER can say that.
I think Klay is done. That game was brutal to follow for him.

Two full seasons now with under performing Wiggins, Thompson, and Draymond costing the team. If there’s no change there then there will be no change in next year’s outcome. Time for the front office to make some objective business decisions with two seasons to evaluate.

Why are teams so into holding on too long? You are either competing for championships or competing to be relevant. It looks like the Warriors made the decision to just be relevant if they keep Draymond and Klay after back to back seasons.
I kind of blame Kerr a bit as well. Kerr tried to force the young guys into learning that system instead of designing an offense they could get accustomed to. Curry played in a different offense with Mark Jackson and was an All-Star.
They could run a different offensive system easier for the young players with concepts from the current system. Instead, they buried the young guys behind the idea they couldn't figure it out.

Good Analysis Colin, and I think, with the benefit of Hindsight. what frustrated a lot of Warrior fans is that we saw this coming. Klay needed to go a long time ago. Maybe no one would take that huge contract of his. Wiggins hasn't been the same, he needed to go. Trading for Paul was a mistake. Klay, Chris Paul, and Andrew Wiggins needed to go, and if that was it, just Steph and Draymond with the young guys, I think we would have all been okay. It would have been a developmental year. Instead of the mad push to the playoffs, accept a lottery pick, and go from there. But they stayed too long on these guys. Now... maybe they knew all that and just couldn't unload Wiggins and Thompson. And maybe Paul was something that had to be done to get out from under Jordan Poole's contract. I don't know. Frustrating to see it end. I guess the thing is, is this just what it is? Like inevitible? Or could some moves have been made, maybe some better coaching, to keep us in it longer? Watching Klay for the last two years, I'm not confident he was ever going to get good again.
