I was never convinced that Trump, as a member of the ruling class, would ever be jailed, but I have long daydreamed of him being broken financially
Well, unfortunately (or fortunately) Trump has been broken financially more than once in his life already. But he’s a grifter and so grifts his way out of it through a gullible public. What’s happening now, ordinary poor people donating to Trump or buying shares in his empty companies or scams, is just more of the same.

My favorite is that he will probably become president but his mental decline will be fully televised. He's in the stage of dementia where he mixes up words every other sentence, it's beautiful. Yes I mean that.

If a preschooler is deeply involved in whatever activity you need them to wrap up, 5 minutes can be a very elastic unit of time until they can tell time. 15-20 years ago, getting my kids off the playground was the worst. I got tired of hearing parents yell at their kids. I started going to my kids and quietly saying “we need to leave in about five minutes” Then I could let them play for a bit longer and at some ambiguous time later of my choice I could give a 3 and 1 minute warning which was usually just eye contact and holding up fingers.

I don't own a surveillance, uh, smart phone. I often feel alone among zombies. I recognize the day will come when I try and make a purchase at a retail store, undoubtedly owned by Amazon, and not having a smart phone, I get "zapped". Life is short. I am old. I visit CZcams on a child's tablet to listen to you and other news sources of choice.
The last time I was in the Rijksmuseum I went to the cafe. The only way to access the menu, order and pay was via smartphone. The cockles of my heart were warmed though by two elderly American couples at the next table. They had met at The Night Watch having lost touch 40 years earlier, brought a tear to my my cynical European eye

I love the episodes of Offline that are just you and Max talking. Not to knock any of your guests but my brain craves conversation between people I know (or feel I know, in the case of a parasocial relationship), far more than it could ever crave conversation between someone I know and some rando. Obviously there are times when it's important to platform a particular individual, e.g., a candidate running in an upcoming election in a hotly contested district, but, the point is, this episode slaps.

For managing children with timers: we use a manual 60 minute timer with a fun ladybug design on most occasions. Baths. Time in the yard. Meals. Countdown to bed. Etcetera. Once our daughter got old enough to operate the timer correctly, she had a stake in her time management and came to enjoy the responsibility.
It helps when you stick to a landline and stay away from social media. I like my watch just fine when I go out. Only use e-mail and CZcams. This is enough to stay in touch beside the actual face to face which is the most pleasing time of all.
