    One of the World Cup's great matches with some rare colour footage. If Pelé hadn't been kicked out of the game, Brazil would've probably met England and history may well have been different...
    Interesting to observe that Portugal were probably the first European team to field black players.

  • @jeanlundi2141
    @jeanlundi2141 Před rokem +10

    This video is highlighting Pele getting kicked, but if you watch the whole match there were equally violent challenges from both sides. It's not as good a narrative though as saying "Brazil lost because Portugal kicked Pele".

      Pelé was already injured form the first match agains't Bulgária, he is the one hoping, this Brasil side had good talent but the confederation made terrible preparation, the narrator said that at this moment Brasil needed Pelé the most, wich means that it was possible for him to change the score if he wasn't injured, I agree with you that Brasil was also violent, but specificaly harming Pelé helped Portugal a lot

    • @sportschannel3637
      @sportschannel3637 Před 7 měsíci

      @@Luigi-hn1hu I still think that many people don't give due importance to Portugal's victory, which clearly played better, played football that pointed more towards the future. Brazil clearly played slow and predictable football, in practically all of its actions.
      Now just a few facts:
      After the 1962 World Cup, during the preparation for the 1966 World Cup, Brazil played 3 times against Portugal. One victory, one draw and one defeat (not counting the 1 x 3 in the 66 World Cup). Pelé played all 3 games and scored just one goal. In the only Brazilian victory, Eusébio was not on the field.
      Therefore, the result of the 1966 World Cup was not at all unlikely.

    This match was played at Goodison Park, Liverpool, the home of Everton FC, and was used for FA Cup Semi Finals and England internationals in the 60s and 70s. And was the final competitive match Pele played in the UK. The only other was against Bulgaria in the same world cup and also at Goodison
    match commentator is the late David Coleman from the BBC widely praised as the finest ever football commentator . The great Eusebio always said it was his favourite ground.
    One of the UKs most famous grounds that has hosted some of the worlds greatest games and players is due for demolition in a few years for a new ground near the River Mersey. RIP Pele. what a legacy you have left.

      De hecho si vemos el partido, el arquero Manga tuvo algunas atajadas que evitaron que fueran goleada.
      Lo único triste para Manga fue qué aquel duelo fue su debut y despedida de la seleccão. También fue el único encuentro mundialista que Gilmar no jugaría.

    Those dirty tackles on purpose so hgh that they destroyed Peles knees were obvious red cards, if they had done todays proper refereeing Portugal would loose because they would recieve at least 10 red cards, this was not proper futbol, it was a disgrace to futbol.
