Sakurai is so upset by that intro.
What do you mean by that?
@heroboygamebase2286 He cut out Surround Sound for Kirby Air Ride because the game would've taken an extra 2 seconds to boot. Check out the short GX made if you wanna know more about it.
@@heroboygamebase2286 Sakurai recently said he decided against using Dolby Surround Sound to a kirby game since it adds a second extra to the loading time of the cold boot.
@@heroboygamebase2286 sakurai said in an interview that he cut dolby music from kirby air ride because he didnt want the 2 extra obligatory seconds to show the dolby logo at the start of the game to save players' time
Why's that
i liked the original "struck first" text flare better, there was something more energetic about the individual letters shaking around
Flair, and agreed
Totally. WAY more personality. The new one looks so generic.
I feel there are a couple weird design choices.. not a fan of the partner swap wheel at all.
Still have to say that sooo many of the designs are extremely gorgeous. Look at the menu for example!
@@basti__ Luckily It is a completely optional QoL Feature you never have to use. I swear some people will never stop complaining just for the sake of complaining
My biggest gripe with the remake are the sounds.
Seriously there is no personality anymore. Not only that, but the entire sound effects are so much more quiet.
I first noticed this when I had to fight the green X enemy. When he attacks, I couldn't hear the noise it makes. And when the green protective thing comes out, there were no sounds for it.
Compare that to the original and it has very distinct sounds.
I'm sitting here thinking, did the devs forget about the sounds? They focused too much on the music it seems.
As much as I love this remake, I kinda dislike how menus themselves are slower. In battle, you could just tap A three times very fast to do your jump, but now you need to wait for some menus to finish their opening animations to interact with them
Yeah.. it doesn't bother me a lot since battle menus especially still go pretty quick, but basically every menu needs to wait a second to let you interact with it. Almost thought it was the delay of my Joy-Cons or something.
Maybe that'll get patched, I dunno. They didn't give us a Day 1 patch.
So it boots slower, but beyond that the difference is...what, a second? Second and a half at most? And it seems like the splash screens are longer in the Switch...
And there's the fact of all the higher res textures and lighting effects...Switch is loading a good chunk more than GC.
It's fine, a *bit* slower, it's not gonna hurt anyone's enjoyment at all.
Hurts mine, stop making generalizations on other people
I am pretty sure the speedrunners are figuring out which is the faster version already
@@TheDeviousLight Are you joking, right?
What really huts this game is running 30fps when the og ran at 60fps even on both game cube and wii.
@@allenrichardson9084 it does not hurt the game in the slightest. Just stop. Holy 💩 you're annoying
Maybe the frame rate's a factor, idk.
The GameCube loads off data off a mini-disk with wayyyyy
less to load. Maybe it works differently, tho
Usually disks take longer than cartridges if I'm not mistaken.
Definitely a file size thing though.
@@pixellord2370 Would also depend if the switch version in the video was physical or digital
Might also be a processing thing rather than just loading data off storage
The flash memory on the switch is orders of magnitude faster than the disc on the gamecube
In reality I don't think it would really make a difference because booting from GameCube means having to watch the GameCube intro too
Was not expecting the Nintendo Logo.
They're proud of this one.
Difference: The background is red instead of black, and the logo is white instead of red.
@@cromagprophet I feel like they're generally doing it from now on, going forward with the Switch 2
Hope they keep that up!
Like just deadass like i was like wait they put a trailer in this game? What is this luigis mansion?
(For those who don’t know, the original Luigi’s Mansion had a trailer for Pikmin 1)
The loading is still very short compared to other games on the Switch.
Booting up Dragon Quest Builders 2 and getting to the gameplay takes FOREVER. So many loading screens....
Indeed
*Looks at Princess Peach Showtime*
That's not an argument. That's just deflection from the fact that it runs slower than it did 20 years ago.
@@knuclear200x Because you're comparing a GameCube game to a Switch game. The reason the GameCube version loads slightly faster is because it's way simpler in terms of graphics. And if you're actually upset about loading being a second or two faster, then something is really wrong with you.
Inconsequential, and with how much more detailed the Switch version is, kind of to be expected.
expected maybe by nintendo. All the ps5 remasters with way more upgrades than this game received all boot faster than their original counterparts, lol
@@LilT2o00after the two hour installation time of course... Because the PS5 can't play most games of disc
@@LilT2o00make me 15 noticeable upgrades from the last of us 2 remaster
@@TheNameIsSR Always hated that. I don't have a PS5 but I remember getting Spiderman Miles Morales on PS4, getting home, and having to wait half an hour just to play it... That felt like forever.
@@papermarioparty08 yeah it's the main reason I have completely abandoned home consoles now. The whole convenience of buying, a game popping in and playing is gone. That was the one advantage of consoles over PC.
I played the remake yesterday, and there was one thing I discovered: killing the roaches in Rougeport give you coins
0:07 finally Nintendo will use a opening logo in a video game
They already did that with Pikmin 1/2 ports on the Switch.
Oh
@@KingHarlequin1999Those are remasters, therefore using the original GC source code and don’t count.
15 seconds is pretty decent for a Switch game, some third-party games take multiple minutes (Disney Dreamlight Valley takes almost 3 minutes to load from the initial Disney splash to in-game, longer if you start counting from the Switch main menu).
I have Yooka-Laylee on Switch and the obscene load times is one of the reasons why I haven’t beaten it.
@@GatorOne-in7hkhow long is the average load time
@@ElijaPin I haven’t calculated it but it’s well over a minute both to launch the game and to load into levels.
0:08: when was the last time nintendo used an opening logo?
Seems to only be remake-wise, also Nintendo technically already has their logo built-in when the Switch itself loads games.
Its just less than 5 Sec difference guys they can't hurt you. Gamers be like: LOAD ALREADY AAAAAAAAH
Dolby Pro Logic. Nostalgia alert
Just imagine what would happen if Masahito Sakura was in charge
to defend the remix. there is auto save witch the original don't
Is there really an autosave ? They really didn't make it obvious if so
Wait really? They really said to hit the block and I sometimes do it a few times just to make sure it's saved
Are you running it off the Game Card or SD Card?
The first clip should’ve kept going, hahaha.
Sakurai would never
@GameXplain This video is POINTLESS AND UNNECESSARY. PERIOD.
Was it installed to internal storage or micro SD card? The internal storage is the fastest, microSD and game card are a bit slower.
Seeing that full red Nintendo logo was the most surprising part of the video for me.
Nice to see battles load so quickly
The first strike hit is actually faster than the GameCube on. Better get first strikes if you don't wanna get slow loading of 0.300 seconds!
This is something I've definitely noticed from my playthrough thus far is that most everything feels a lot slower. The loading speed really isn't much of an issue but that compounded with many other small things that unnecessarily slow the game down feel pretty bad.
It’s not a GameCube disc so I’m not surprised
Gamecube had special discs to load games fast. Still impressive!
I guess the load times on switch could depend if the game is installed on the internal memory or a sd card.
I'm not sure if the cold boot one was a fair comparison. Should you have started from the gamecube menu and hitting start?
Thay was what they wanted with Gamecube. Using the mini disc was a way to make games load very fast. I remember that being a huge thing back when gamecube came out. It was the SSD of the time lol
Some of these, such as the battle transitions, I'd argue aren't loading sequences, but rather creative flourishes. The remake puts a greater emphasis on presentation and really asserts that "pop up book" aesthetic, so naturally they put a bit more animation on the background elements folding into place.
I'm fine with longer load times, but the additional animations for battle intro/outros is a deliberate choice that make the gaming experience needlessly slower.
Well while this is rather disappointing it’ll definitely help with content creators such as myself with editing out boring parts such as loading screens, wandering around, etc.
I don’t mind the extra low time by a small millisecond. However, it does feel like the attack menu options are not as smooth to navigate as it was in the original. Just me?
We need some clarification. Is the Switch running the physical version or the digital version? If digital, is it installed into the microSD or the internal SSD?
The physical version will always be the slowest while the SSD will always be the fastest.
Intro and move to different location is slow, but battles are much faster.
The difference is insane!
Also interesting how they used the Nintendo logo there! Probably to replicate the gc one.
Do a comparison about blocking attacks, because it looks like the "blocking window" is much forgiving in the remake.
Also noticed some of the mobs attacks are slower, so they're more easy to predict, like Spinia & koopa troopa.
granted I've seen footage of those and they are BLAZING FAST in the original. Especially with a lower framerate, they wanna make sure you can actually see them coming the first go around. Still pretty fast, much faster than any attack in Origami King.
@@squiddu Also the attacks Mario & Partners do are easier to perform...
But I suppose new players probably don't mind that.
Bro everyone is so nitpicky 😭
I wonder if the GameCube version saves time with the faster load times even though the switch version improves backtracking.
While I understand why someone may be bothered by the extra load time, I'm fine with it. For me, I've been having a blast re-experiencing the game, and a couple seconds of load here and there doesn't get in my way.
I do have some small things here and there, like how menus in general aren't as snappy, but overall, the remake has been fantastic, even if it isn't perfect. To those who have been playing TTYD, enjoy your travels!
Imagine not putting in the intro sequence on the Switch version and just get straight to the title screen
I noticed a few things look a little choppy, like the Battle Curtains
Unbelievable that I actually noticed this slight loading slowdown
The game cube was a home console the swich isn't I would expect the Game cube to load first
I more distracted by the title screen being different
The lack of 60 FPS and slower load times, plus the greatness of the GCC makes the Gamecube version still really great and relevant.
Honestly, I really wish they implemented full Gamecube controller support and 60 FPS, which is the bare minimum to expect in 2024. Still a fun game though.
Origami King is 30 FPS and no one cared. Lots of games on the Switch are 30 FPS because it's an underpowered console. It's not that big of a deal.
People have modded the game to be 60 fps, and the modded Switches fail to keep a consistent frame rate of 60. Nintendo went for the much more consistent 30 to keep the game looking as amazing as it does, and I would rather have the current graphics and 30 than the original graphics and 60 for a remake.
@@thisisaloadofbarnacles921 To you, but it is to others. And it doesn't help that the original was 60.
@@Mswordx23 Guess what, the original could barely hold 60 frames in some areas ;)
@@thisisaloadofbarnacles921 I'd prefer 60 97% of the time to 30 100% of the time
It doesn't matter for the sheer fact of pulling a GC title out of second market scalping territory. Especially for those who never got the chance to when it first released.
Gamecube was awesome, can't deny. I wish we had the same 60fps fast loading games today.
Well remember, the Remake has 20x more things to load, and it will barely make a difference in the raw gameplay
@@LleytonSPDthe hardware the remake is in is also 20x better than the gcn
@@LleytonSPD I would take 1/20th of the things to load then. It's not worth it being unoptimized in my opinion. And increased load times add up over the course of the whole game.
@@Mswordx23We have no way of knowing if they optimized stuff or not, especially since Origami King also ran at 30.
God help us. Still buying
Huh, I could have sworn the difference was larger. Still, I'm willing to accept slightly longer load times in exchange for the added visual details.
Just a tad slower by a second or two... not bad. I have gotten the impression that the game was tweaked for slightly slower experience, so I am not too mad about it. Waiting for my copy in delivery, getting on Tuesday 😎
Most likely due the bigger files in comparison to the gamecube original, it's very impressive the time difference is very small.
It doesn't look that much different, it's just a couple seconds slower, like, sure we have other old games that were remade at better quality for the switch like XCDE, but that still doesn't mean anything
So it's slower in a few areas but only by a second, in some cases 2 seconds, but somehow 2 seconds faster in other areas
Pretty sure that the load times would be faster on Switch 2 even if Switch 2 doesn't enhance the performance.
Dude there just a half a sec longer it's virtually unnoticeable
Longer loading times means that I can play the game longer than on the gcn version. 😅
Some of this is added flair, and some of this is actually loading
to be fair, you can skip the Nintendo and Intelligent Systems logos on Switch
How are the load times slower 20 years later? This game is also running at 30 FPS instead of 60 FPS like the original. Maybe they should have put more effort into optimization instead of putting all their effort into censorship.
Moan moan moan . It’s far higher graphical fidelity.
@@gizmoxx999 It doesn’t matter if everything else sucks.
I don’t like that they’re basically blackmailing people into buying this game. We’re never getting a new game like this if this doesn’t sell well.
Honestly, after playing the Switch version and finishing Chapter 2, the pacing of the game is so much slower. The battles are slower and the game pauses each time you get star points.
Im happy for this release but the original wins 100% in my book.
unbelieveable the gamceube is much better than i rembered!
Switch 2 better have fast ssd or im out. Sick of waiting 2 minutes to load into animal crossing 😥
I was waiting for the day they finally brought back their logo at the opening of each game. They finally did it!
Gee, you mean the graphically superior version takes a second or two longer to load? Whoda thunk?
Wha wha WHAT?! SLOWER LOAD?! Unplayable Game, 0/10! Well, 1/10 because I’m so nice.
WHY WOULD YOU CHANGE THE INTRO.
Dude... I wouldn't mind a 1:1 with updated graphics but dude... :( this is my favorite game of all time
The intro is still there, It just takes place after the title screen.
Oh no, the anguish of waiting a whole extra second or two. Kids today need to experience castlevania symphony of the night on an original ps1 system.
For a game thats like 5x the size of the original game and with extremely better graphics, slower loading times are to be expected. I’m ok with it. Also nothing that a patch or two could fix
I don’t mind the fact it’s a bit slower. I’m almost assuming that is a choice in Nintendo’s part for pacing, I mean the opening screen certainly is.
We shouldn’t try to justify it based on the fact the game has higher quality assets, though, even if the assets are 5 or 10 times larger. The original game ran on a mini disc, where this one runs on flash storage. The read speed of the media is about 50 to 60 times faster, at least. And if Nintendo really wanted to, they could have optimized the loading screens to be faster, but it just probably wasn’t a priority.
I’m hoping it runs better on the Switch 2
I would have wasted any time extra anyhow
Oh my god, and RPG loads slowly, whatever shall we dooooooooo?
I like if Nintendo made Mario and Luigi remake on switch
Laughs in Wii U load times
To be fair the remaster is 5GB of storage while the original was around 1GB
Weird, it loads almost instantly on my PC.
digital version will always load faster same for Switch
Loading to long because of bugs glitches or the map trying to regenerate even the save files
The description says the results are interesting. I’m not really sure that they are.
Four words (i don’t fu.king care)Nintendo took the time to re release a Banger game from one of the best consoles nintendo has ever made and ported it with better graphics I’m happy and it looks and plays better then the crap Pokémon releases nuff said
When a disk game wins against a cartridge
Except they are not loading the same game, at all
gamecube was powerful for its time switch isn’t
Did GameXplain pump out so many comparison videos before the Switch was released?
thus game is not for speedrunners confirmed
buy the digital version and it's probably not an issue
i think 30 fps made it easier for me to time the strikes
This video is inconclusive because it doesn't state what the game was being played on. Installed to internal memory is fastest, SD card is behind that, and cartridge is the slowest.
