Yup you heard that right. I took the last 6 months to actually build a sustainable cold shower habit. In this video, I share some insights on how I did this. I also share my mental framework of how I approached this terrifying cold shower habit.
    Enjoy!

I've been taking cold showers for the past 8 months and it's been transformative for me. The meditative feeling I get after it is unlike anything I get from actual meditation or yoga or anything else. If you really want to make this a habit, I think it's important to decide that you are the type of person that takes cold showers, not just taking it as an experiment. For me, I set a timer for 5 minutes and stand under the water tilll it goes off, then jump and cheer and pat myself on the back for getting through another day, then tell myself "it's just like me to take on a big obstacle and overcome it. I am the type of person who takes cold showers and gets through it everyday." This way, you make taking cold showers and tackling that fear a part of your identity, and it imprints into your subconscious. Once it's in your subconscious, you've essentially burned the ships - there's no going back because you are a person that takes cold showers. That's how I was able to overcome the desire to switch that knob to hot everyday. Great video man, glad you've been able to incorporate this into your life!

100 percent agree with you on that. Celebrating after each shower is a good tip tbh

I've learned jumping right in is just about the only sure fire way to get to get you fully underneath the shower head. My first shower which was yesterday I had to eventually just jump in in stop thinking so much, trying to come with ways to minimize the shock you can minimize it slightly by putting your arms up to your armpit in, then your head in letting the water from your head trickle down your back, in lastly putting both legs in, but that only slightly minimizes the shock in you still have to jump in so your really just putting off the inevitable I find doing those things work if ever so slightly but the quicker you jump in the less you think about jumping in, in the quicker your body can adapt in come to terms with it.

Great video. I really like the 'video essay' type format you did. The editing and storytelling style is perfect. 🙂
Keep up the amazing work. Really stellar content you are making.

While describing evolution of human's taking shower / bath, you missed an important segment i.e. concept of community baths (hamam) in Middle East, Turkey, Europe, etc.😊

mmm. Interesting experience. Do I sense a self help direction you may be going in? It's all good. I will only hop into an ice cold shower if its 100 degree heat wave with no air conditioner or if I'm in a very hot suana or steam and want to cool off. Actually, very hot and then very cold on the face or body is proven to revitalize the skin. Thanks for posting.👍

Lol I don't think I can do like ice ice icy cold showers but maybe cool showers if it's a hot day. I've always been used to warm showers like most people.
