Thanks for the info, however I am still going to get an ablation. I am 46 years old and I started my menstrual cycle when I was 9 years old, and it has been extremely painful since it started. I am so tired of having a heavy painful period so that is why I am having an ablation.

I’ll gladly trade severe anemia from debilitating heavy periods for not knowing I have cancer and dying a lil earlier . You’re not scared of things like cancer and death when you have almost no quality of life from debilitating heavy periods That make you perpetually anemic and can’t take birth control because it makes you sick and iron pills make you sick and infusions drop your leptin so low that you eat like a pregnant raccoon in a dumpster gain weight and Need another one in a matter of weeks because your periods are so heavy. Yeah thanks for the public service announcement doc .

I couldn't have said it better myself. When the video was over all I said was if uterine cancer is how I go out then c'est la vie. I knew he didn't get it the moment he said "more bleeding than you'd like" sir ..... this is FAR more complicated than that! Cool stethoscope though bro you look really cool 🙄

So then whats your solution? 'bleeding more than they'd like' you make it sound like it's trivial. Some women like myself have poor quality of life, anemia, severe cramps and pain, migraines. Why say 'ask in the comments' if you dont bother to respond?

I had extremely heavy bleeding that required more than one blood transfusion over the course of several months. All I wanted was a hysterectomy. I begged for it. Nurses at the ER were even saying “why haven’t you been given a hysterectomy yet?” I just have to say as a woman I have been told all my life that i have control over my body and it’s my choice. But no…they pumped me with birth control to try and help my bleeding, two different kinds I was taking at once. Nothing changed, I was back in the hospital getting a blood transfusion. Then when my gynecologist suggested an ablation I started asking her a bunch of questions because my Mom had ovarian cancer. I said I just want it all out and over with. She got so upset at me and started talking over me and saying I had no idea what I was talking about and laughing about the fact that I thought I could catch cancer just because my Mom had it. It was then I sought a second opinion. The doctor I went to was an older gentleman and very compassionate. I remember that appointment how he asked me what I want to do and suggested a full hysterectomy based on my family history. So that is what I did and guess what? They found cancer. That doctor was dead wrong and it was my life she was playing with. Never accept something without weighing out the facts and your family history. And never let a doctor treat you like you’re stupid. Sure they have a degree and immense knowledge but did they study your individual body for 7 years? It doesn’t mean anything if you’re still suffering or end up with cancer.

@@teeforthewin my pain is there about two to three weeks out of the month, not just during what would of been my period. It has gotten to the point where it is interfering with my daily life, i still go to work but I’m holding back tears most days. I recently went to my doctor to ask her to have a hysterectomy and since I’m only 38 years old she didn’t want to do that. Instead she suggested I begin birth control to control my symptoms. I didn’t want to take the medication because this was the whole point of me getting a tubal ligation and ablation but here we are. I am desperate for relief so I started taking Loryna, a very low dosage. Since starting I have gotten major relief, I have occasional headaches with the medication but that’s really it so far. I sadly will continue to take these pills because I cannot go back to that pain.

This was one of the options given to me last week at the doctor appointment, the other option would be a hysterectomy.
    I WAS thinking,
Maybe I'd do the endometrial ablation & if that didn't work,
    Then do hysterectomy.
But, I'd have to have possible 2 surgery, then 2 recovery...
My mom & at least other family members had hysterectomy & they've been telling me to have a hysterectomy for prioky over 3 yrs now...
    I'm scared of some things.
But I've only heard good stuff about hysterectomys 🤔
So, it almost sound like a too good to he true or something lol...
    I'm very skeptical....
But, a month ago 1 woulda been signing up for a hysterectomy on the spot if I could have, cuz the very long, super heavy bleeding & bad pain is horrible!!

My Gynecologist is sending me to have endometrial ablation for endometrial hyperplasia since I have anemia. I DON’T have heavy bleeding and never have had it. The first time they saw the thickening was in 2018 during an ultrasound for a cyst on my ovary, wanted to do another one to confirm, but my insurance wouldn’t approve the cost for it so I had to wait until this year. I became severely anemic this year needing blood transfusion and iron infusions and they keep blaming it on my periods but I missed almost half of my periods last year and so far this year they have been extremely light (one pad all day for light days 2-3 days worth, two to three overnight pads a day for medium days 2-3 days and maybe one or two heavy days needing maybe four overnight pads a day per cycle). I’m 38 and I really don’t think that my anemia is being caused by my periods just because no bleeding was found in my GI tract, and everything I’m reading up on says that this procedure isn’t supposed to be used for endometrial hyperplasia. I did have a biopsy done and waiting on the results but gynecologist said usually this isn’t malignant and that’s why he wants to move forward with the procedure. Is this really a safe thing to do for me?

I’m also 31, which I know is old, but I wouldn’t really want a hysterectomy even though I went to many consultations about it before I believed it wouldn’t help me.
